Yo dawgs...
So I'm going to Europe soon, and would like to know if anyone knows anything about travel insurance, or if they could recommend any particular company. We aren't going to be doing any snow sports, but we are getting a hire car.
Also any travel advice would be great, even great things to see.

I used http://www.worldnomads.com.au/ when I travelled Europe. Cheap and stuff, didn't have to use them for anything so can't really expand on that. Check em out. _________________

If you've got a decent credit card, check if you're provided with travel insurance via that. It might only apply if you book tickets and/or accommodation using the card though. That's all I've relied on when traveling myself. _________________

I am currently on the same as theory. Never needed to use them though thankfully, but I signed up with them after hearing good things from a mate about them. _________________

Like Theory I use World Nomads. I think they only do weekly blocks though. If I need a few extra days I go for 1Cover. _________________ I'd be apathetic, but I can't be arsed.

i used 1Cover, as they were the ones who would cover glasses and hearing aids while overseas in their advertised rate.
there might be others, but a few i enquired with wouldn't, requiring an additional premium for that cover, and a few didn't reply so i've no idea, but yeah, was happy with 1cover - so far as i can judge in my capacity as a i-gave-them-money-and-nothing-happened-so-that-was-the-extent-of-the-transaction customer. _________________

I can recomend Columbus. They're a British compnay but service Aussies. When I broke a hand travelling they covered everything, no fuss.
