I saw that offer the other week. It seems pretty good but I've got a feeling it's online only. I'm too impatient to wait .
Oh and I heard that Ridge Racer flopped. _________________

For some this is probably old news but for others...

JB Hi-Fi No Longer Selling 3G Version Of The PlayStation Vita (Kotaku AU)
We’ve just gotten confirmation from JB Hi-Fi that the retailer will no longer be taking pre-orders for, or selling, the 3G version of the PlayStation Vita and is limiting its stock to the Wi-Fi version of the console only.
Consumers who had already pre-ordered through JB Hi-Fi’s online store have now received emails stating the following:
---------------------------
Hi Guys,
We have just been advised that ‘PLAYSTATION VITA CONSOLE (3G/WIFI) [PRE ORDER BONUS HEADPHONES + DLC]’ is no longer available for order through the JB Hifi Online Store.
Unfortunately, we have now been forced to cancel this item from your order, or cancel the order if it was a single item order (this may take up to 24 hours to update in your order history).
However, you can still order the Wifi Version. I have included a link below for your perusal.
http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/game/ps-vita/playstation-vita-console-wifi-pre-order-bonus-headphones-dlc/658866
Please note – We only process payment when an order has been dispatched out from our warehouse. You have not been charged for this order.
We do regret any inconvenience that this has caused you.
Kind Regards,
The JB Hi-Fi Online Team
-----------------------
Apparently the reason for JB’s change of heart has been Sony’s decision to announce Vodafone as its preferred 3G partner for the PlayStation Vita.
“As Telstra dealers we have an agreement to not stock Vodafone products in our stores,” said an official spokesperson from JB Hi-Fi.
The 3G version of the PlayStation Vita comes packaged with a Vodafone SIM card, but the console isn’t tied to one specific network. Users can just as easily use another SIM card with the PlayStation Vita.
“We’ve decided to just keep it simple,” said the JB Hi-Fi rep, when we informed him of this.”This is actually the first call we’ve had about the decision, so we don’t think it’ll make too much of an impact.”
IThe 3G version of the PlayStation Vita has already drew the ire of some consumers for being overpriced when compared to the regular Wi-fi version. JB Hifi has a lion’s share of the games market in Australia, so this may contribute to the Wi-Fi version of the PS Vita being the most popular choice when the handheld is released on February 23.

It's supposed to be released a cheaper game, and then you choose which DLC you want to buy. The only issue is that game isn't actually that much cheaper... _________________

It's pretty expensive if you add in all the required extras i.e. mem card + game. Looking at least $450+.
I think I will wait for the first price drop. If Japan is anything to go by that should be sooner rather then later. _________________ Shin J Leon.

Its still in the same price bracket as Katamari... and only $5 less than Mod Nation Racers and Wipeout 2048. I suppose if it comes free with pre-order, I can't really complain.
I'm still on board for day 1. I also read around the place the 3g component is to be used only for social networking and not gaming.. but I can't seem to find this on anything official from Sony. Can someone confirm this? _________________

Game-lane has the HK value pack for 499.95..
I placed an order this morning and will cancel my preorder. Sure its effectively not as good a value, but i want the damn thing now and losing Ridge Racer is not such a bad thing as it sounds like half a game. I'm sure we'll get an edition with the eventual DLC.
Memory card will only be 4gb but I rarely DL a demo and will buy carts so should be fine for a while. _________________

Yeah, at the moment GAME looks pretty much the best. The games are all going to be imported though. _________________

Hoping somebody could help me out.. I'm interested in grabbing the 3g model because i like the idea of having internet access everywhere i go, i don't have an Android or Iphone so this will be my first time 'paying' for this kind of thing on a small device. What i'm confused about is if ill have to sign a contract for a number of months with a provider like Optus or Telstra, or if i can buy the equivalent of pre-paid top up cards from different shops and use it on a month to month basis.
I have read that the data allowance will be 2gig, does that mean ill be able to browse the internet and visit sites like facebook and different video game blogs online like i do at home on my PC or is it only for playing games online?
Apologies if this is all common knowledge but i just want to make sure before committing to a $450 plus price.

1. Yes you can use prepaid sims and just top up as you need to.
2. 2gb to be used for everything, yes. _________________

Anyone else pre-ordered with GAME online? You pay $10 bucks deposit and then they charge the full amount when it ships.
I'm wondering if it will ship before or on release date and get here on time. Does anyone know if GAME use Aus Post?
I think $350 for a Vita, Ridge Racer and the pre-order bonus pack is pretty decent.
Gonna get a 32Gb mem card from overseas, and import Wipeout from Amazon.

That's awesome. I guess I will pre-order. But I want to reserve the right to cancel my Pre-order in case Big W or K-Mart have a decent price on launch. I'm especially hoping K-Mart do because I can get a further 5% off.

I'm also holding off on placing a pre-order until I see what the other stores are going to offer (if anything). I wish they'd hurry up though. EB don't seem to be planning anything... _________________

I'm thinking if I don't end up seeing any decent bundles with Uncharted I'll just buy it from Target with my team member discount. I'll save a touch under 18 dollars from RRP. _________________

I wouldn't expect much from half a game.
Also perhaps the big chain stores aren't really enthusiastic about the Vita since the PSP did so poorly here.
