I bought GT5 the other day because it was cheap and platinum. As soon as I booted it up I got a gift for the Red Bull X2010 1500BHP super car. This thing is insanely fast. I did about 460km/h on the Nurburgring straight and the turning is fantastic. You can take sharp turns at about 350km/h. It's made any competition in GT Mode a bit of a joke.

Only if your not using a wheel. If you use a wheel, the car vibrates to the point where many G25's and G27's have broken over on the GTPlanet forums. So basically for me, it's a B-Spec only car.

I use the Driving Force GT, and whilst is does vibrate a lot it isn't something that would break the wheel.

I think they're going to release an update so that anyone who's already bought the DLC will get a "family" upgrade that allows any user on the same PS3 use the DLC
Well according to this http://www.gtplanet.net/dlc-cars-to-be-purchaseable-in-game

That said, I'm relearning how to drift in this game (without the use of handbrakes)

Yeah that update could be good, but I have also read it won't apply to different regions. Will come down to whether they consider UK / AU as different regions or a PAL region.

Thankfully I had a great GT session the other night, so gotten over the disappointment of blowing my money on something which didn't work.

Gran Turismo 5 - New DLC and Update 2.02 Coming Next Week

Next week you’ll be able to download Car Pack 2 for $3.99 and add some fantastic new rides to your garage. Car Pack 2 includes the 2011 Mini Cooper S, 2010 Volkswagen Golf VI R, 2010 Volkswagen Scirocco R, and the new and improved 2012 Nissan GT-R Black edition R35.

As a special gift anyone who purchased anything from the first batch of DLC will get unlock the Gran Turismo Racing Kart 125 SP and five New Car Refresh cards in the game for free. The refresh cards will take any car back to being ā€˜as good as new’ while maintaining any modifications or paint jobs you have given your motors. To take advantage of this offer, you’ll need to install the new downloadable update hitting next week.

The 2.02 Update Includes:

-Users can now change wheels on Standard cars

-The settings sheets will include a new 'copy' feature

-In GT Auto, players will be able to see how the oil changes, aerodynamic parts, engine overhauls, and racing modifications will affect performance points and engine power, before and after their application

-Free coupons have been added that allow you to wash cars, change oil, overhaul your engine, or refresh the car body in GT Auto (10 coupons will be distributed for free to each of those who have downloaded the 2.02 update)

-Pressing the Square button in the car coupon selection screen of the Car Delivery will now allow you to exchange all car coupons at once, rather than doing one at a time

-In screens where the [Garage] and [Driver List] buttons are displayed in the A/B Spec events, Special Events, and Seasonal Events, pressing the Square button will now show the [Garage], and pressing the Triangle button will bring up the drivers list

-In My Lounge, the room settings will feature a new 'Max. number of participants' setting

-In the event selection screen of seasonal events, there are now ☆(star) marks that show the number of Gold Trophies attained in each event

-Improved racing sound effects

-Elements of the steering assist controls (used when using certain controllers on Racing Karts) have been tweaked.

You forgot to mention a free Toyota 86 for updating the game

[EDIT] The 2.02 update's out now and after playing around with the new Toyota 86/GT86, I like it, it's quite responsive. Shame turbo/turbo chargers can't be added, would have tried to tune 2 86s in 2 different directions. Ah well, a circuit based and drift based settings here I come

Gotten back into GT5 recently having bought a Logitech GTDF. Much better using a wheel with paddles / shifter than a control pad, although I still make a fair few mistakes.

Anyway, update 2.03 is on its way, along with a 3rd DLC pack. Subject to changes but this is what's expected so far (website):

Quote:
Apparent information about Gran Turismo 5′s third round of DLC has appeared here in GTPlanet’s forums. According to ā€œSpace Empireā€, GT5′s 2.03 update will be launched on January 18th, and will include a few of the following new changes and features:

  • New themes for My Home in GT Mode.
  • An option for tire wearing in Pit Strategy (B-spec).
  • Simulates regenerative braking on electric cars.
  • Chaparral 2J Race Car ’70: Fan down force option.
  • Fixed unintended pit stop error in the final lap of a B-spec race.
  • 12 new colors and 12 new wall papers for My Home theme.
Electric cars run slowly without applying acceleration.
Regenerative braking affects the cruising distance.

New downloadable content packs will, reportedly, also become available. The ā€œSpeed Test Packā€ will include the new ā€œSpecial Stage Route X Ovalā€ revealed in the recent Honda NSX Concept video, and Car Pack 3 will include the following new vehicles:

  • Nissan Leaf G 2011
  • Aston Martin V12 Vantage 2010
  • Volkswagen [Beetle] 1200 1966
  • Jaguar XJR-9 LM Racecar 1988
  • Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 2011
  • Mini Mini Cooper S Countryman (R60) 2011

It is amazing how far this game has come. If it were to be reviewed now I'm sure the critical reception would be far more positive. I really need to get the latest car dlc, would love to take a Scirocco for a spin icon_razz.gif
