3G data plan prices for the US | Quote: | Apparently the Vita won't have any special prices associated with it, and it will instead use the same data plans that they've [AT&T] already been using for other 3G devices, such as the iPad's.
There are two plans at the moment:
250MB of data - $14.99/month
2GB of data - $25/month |
Meh, Wi-Fi is looking like the better choice now. _________________

I don't really see what benefit of 3G would be considering most ppl carry smart phones. They have a limit of 20 meg on 3G downloads and online gaming would be laggy as hell. _________________ Shin J Leon.

If you've got an iPhone or Android with 3G data you can probably set up the phone as a wireless access point. It's not going to be better than in-built 3G for the Vita but it'll save $15/month. _________________

Using your android phone as a wireless hotspot would only have two small disadvantages. Number one is that it chews through the battery on your phone, and two is that it'd add about an extra 1ms of latency. However considering how crappy 3G is in Australia 1ms is hardly going to make a difference. _________________

Depends though. Problem with smartphone is heavy use of them means the battery only last well under a day and unless there is a public charging station everywhere. Battery life is the main reason why I separate my music and gaming away from the smartphone but even then, I had days where browsing and gaming on a 1 hour train-trip wasn't enough for the phone to last past 7pm.
I don't have a web browsing device other than my smartphone so I can see PS Vita has the potential to fill in that void just like tablets did. _________________ "Work hard now, play even harder later"

3G isnt useless. You're going to have full GPS capability whether you have a sim in it or not. Monster radar in Japan will only play on the 3G model and Near will not work on most wifi models depending on if your wireless network at home is in the skyhooks directory.
Plus hot shots golf, hustle kings and I'm sure many other games all allow online playing 3G in the form of turn by turn play.

Japanese retailers cutting prices on Vita.
Apparently it mostly affects the 3G model, which has been cut by around 17% at some places. _________________ Twitter | XBL: Tamaaya | PSN: stormo | GameCentre/Steam: StorminNorman

I definitely wouldn't say "retailers", that's just an isolated case, I can very much assure you that the prices for the 3G price hasn't changed in the majority of the shops around here. Some of the independent stores will do deals, like package you up with a game, or some accessories or as in this case lower the price.
They're mostly coupling the 3G with internet and mobile plans so I you can pretty much get yourself a 3G Vita for as little as 100Â¥ if you sign up.
I will say this, you can pretty much get yourself a Wifi or 3G Vita pretty much any where now, it's not exactly sold out. Some of the accessories on the other hand are a little tougher to come by they haven't restocked that as much. _________________

Was pretty set on not getting a ps vita till sometime well after release, but something about it made me want it as I walked past a preorder display @ eb tonight...
If someone releases a bundle with Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 at a good price...
Well. I'm going to just have to throw money at it. _________________

Just saw the final retail box in Eb games and can confirm that if you top up with Vodafone then you get wipeout for free!

Was casually browsing the ps vita display at the local eb and picked up the box for ultimate marvel vs capcom.
Read that you could use ps vita as a controller and assign combos to the touchpad.
Bought ultimate marvel vs capcom on ps3 right there on the spot and threw down a preorder. _________________

I'm big on features like that.
But also, it may have already been answered but I couldnt find anything in the past 5-6 pages, regarding buying from Amazon (the first edition bundle) at $349 would be organising freight forwarding services (assuming they wont post it to aus), a power adapter and a way to unlock the 3g ?
http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-Vita-First-Bundle-Sony-PS/dp/B005IMVP0O/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1326005220&sr=8-3
(link for those interested) ps vita 3g + game + memory card at $349 usd..sigh.
Hopefully someone will release a day 1 bundle locally for wifi + katamari at a nice price.. else guess I'll just pick it up on eb with the preorder bonus pack. _________________

Netflix has been announced for the Vita, should be a handy feature. Hopefully we Aussies will have access to it soon. _________________

Cool, how much from them and where are they at. Game-lane looks to have the value pack with Uncharted & 4gb memory card for $499. _________________

I hope netflix is available on the consoles in Australia soon, let alone Vita. I was reading about this last night and it seems we are too small of a market to bother _________________ Shin J Leon.
