@Furianshi: You're the one who had a little tantrum when people didn't like the idea of a petition to remove one aspect of many from such a huge game, you're the one who started with the personal attacks. Your reaction to that discussion is what lead to this one.

Having played for only 28 hours or so.. I am considering restarting with a warrior-spec. I know the game was meant to be flexible but after a certain point you can't simply re-spec your character or start taking a new path.. I mean.. you could.. but I think I will enjoy it just as much by starting again with a character more suited to hand-to-hand combat rather than the pure mage I have been playing so far.

I just feel the mage class in this game is a little under powered in close quarters.. when you have room to move around it is great.. sometimes easy but most of the time a real challenge and satisfying.. it's just so frustrating to find yourself in a dungeon situation where there is no where to run or get a good distance from attackers and die over and over again before giving up and having to come back later.. really ruins the continuity for me..

Mages are fucking brutal. If anyone got close to me they'd be copping a lot of elemental death because of a flame cloak, and even then I can just freeze them or cast some crazy death beam imbued with lightning that completely destroys them.

Mages are crazy overpowered.

Mages can beat anything 1 on 1 becasue of stunlock. But if your getting beat try using a companion or spawning a monster. I don't know why but nobody ever attacks me if I have something else.Also use potions.

Picked this up inthe steam sales, been playig a dark elf thats a little bit of a sneaky bitch. So I was riding around skyrim, checking out a temple burial ground and I swear I nearly lost it before when my horse appeared to do a stealth kill on a skelton.
I'm surprised by how much i'm enjoying the game, I suppose I shouldn't have been expecting anything like fallout 3.

My horse yesterday, i was fighting some dragon on top of a mountain, the dragon flew off, as they do, and i turned around just in time to witness my horse leap around 80 feet sideways off the top of the cliff at the dragon's head....and that was the last time we saw old flicka....

I did start a new sword-wielding character (Argonian) but ended up just wandering around and not caring about the story.. it will be a character I'll play around with... but then I installed the Balanced Magic mod and got back into my mage character.. much more fun now. I guess I am just not used to using all the different spells.. switching back and forth between the various wards and other stuff is just too clumsy for my liking. You can assign hotkeys but it always puts it in your left hand first.. and yer.. just clumsy..

So now my pc has died, I'm back on the skyrim train. Gave up playing my punchy orc cause... well it gets boring. Back to my thief lizard. Wich is hella fun. Going through the dark brotherhood and thief quest lines. The dark brotherhood is awesome. Also it keeps turning out everyone I want to marry is unavaialble. So that's lame.

Sup nerds I took some pictures. Not too many tweaks. Increased uGrid variables to minimise the low LOD trees in favour of nicer looking ones. Tree shadows, cleaner IQ, etc. 8xTSSAA to clean up foliage. Click for full size.

Looks nice, and I like the art, but I still hate the engine. All my hate can be directed at the lack of shadow casting on grass. What the fuck Bethesda. Everybody else is doing it jesus christ update your shit.

So the Creation Kit is coming out today/tomorrow sometime, should be great for the modding community. But there is going to be a special surprise too. Rumours say it may be a HD texture pack, which would be pretty awesome. If so, I'm glad I didn't install the unofficial HD textures.

Oh and also, 1.4 drastically improves performance. So if you were running the Acceleration Layer, or something similar, it is now completely unnecessary. 1.4 runs better than any of the performance mods did.
