This is a scientific fact. I know. I did tests and stuff.

Fuck that, if he doesn't call it ALIEN5 I will be disappointed.

Also I heard that Jarrod is stupid and doesn't know shit about anything and should probably just be ignored.

Yeah, I thought it was fact that Joss Whedon wrote the only truly good Alien movie.

And with that, I believe everything that can be trollfaced on the topic has.

They are completely different films and absolute classics in their own right. I personally thought Aliens was much better but you can't go past the sheer horror and suspence of the original. The thing I liked about Aliens was it's sheer onslaught feel; you never felt safe and it was just one thing after another.

They don't make movies like they used to anyway. I look at Transformers and all this other garbage coming out and I can't help but be sad.

I'm mostly trolling because I do think Aliens is an excellent film, and I love that Cameron did something different with the franchise as opposed to cloning the original.

But that being said I dislike, by comparison, all of the thematic changes Cameron made. The God complex surrounding Ripley's character is far less interesting to me than the natural flowing dialogue and realistic characters of Alien. Everyone in Aliens is a two dimensional caricature and a lot less believable than Alien. The Xenomorphs themselves reverted to hive-like ant creatures, whereas in the first film it was an unexplainable, mysterious 'perfect' killer, a truly alien creature.

Cameron's changes made for a film more akin to a summer blockbuster. Its big, loud, cheesy, full of one liners, and has huge set pieces. It also happens to be an excellent blockbuster and a sequel done right, and a good contender for Cameron's best work. I think because it hits a lot of the right notes as a blockbuster, it resonates with people more than the original.

But for me, shot for shot, I feel Alien is the superior film, especially thematically, largely because I love the slow, burning gothic horror and more realistic cast over waves of big mean ants.

I also have a stick up my arse about how Cameron seems to have become the go-to guy for any talk on for a franchise he didn't establish, and a creature he didn't create.

That might contribute to my rant.

I don't think it's even a competition when it comes to Alien vs Aliens. Alien is leagues ahead of Aliens. The attention to detail in it is crazy, and even the opening shots have been the subject of study because of its style.

That being said, they're both really amazing films, but for very different reasons.

Oh, I wasn't implying that Aliens is a better film than Alien. Obsolete teased the possibility of Cameron directing Alien 5 and that sounds good to me, although I'd be ecstatic if Ridley was to do it aswell.

I just want another good Alien movie icon_sad.gif

Prometheus tells a much bigger story and does it well, but it's missing what matters most. It's inorganic.
