The constant quest bugs and little annoyances are driving me nuts. I think I'll leave my brother to play this. I'll keep moding it from him, but I don't know, it has failed to capture me.

I've encountered a glitch which is stopping the main quest from continuing... Hopefully Bethesda can patch it and I'll bide my time by doing side quests... Disappointing!!!

I CBF playing this anymore. Hugely disappointed. Like to the point where medication doesn't seem to be working. I waited patiently all year, hardly able to conceal my excitement, just to not even get half-way through it, thanks to the stupid bug that caused me to delete my latest save. There are so many things I did between those last two saves, that I really just couldn't be bothered.
I don't feel like playing anything now. Fuck you Bethesda.

I had that happen. Went in and out and back in a house after it was bugged so lost my autosaves. I didn't bother doing exactly what I did in my lost save just went off in a different direction for a while.

If you wanna play Skyrim, but you're a huge arachnophobe, sign this petition to get an official mod from Bethesda for the console version: http://twitition.com/aea33/ (you need to sign in with your twitter account, and it will auto-tweet a link for your followers)
So far, there's only 2 signatures, and one of them is mine, so please take a moment and sign.

That's the most insane petition I've ever heard.
What's next, getting rid of all the outdoor areas so that agraphobics can play it in peace? Getting rid of all rivers and creeks in the game to settle the Potamophobics fears? _________________

You guys have clearly never lived with someone who has arachnophobia and gets you to play through all the 'spider bits'.

And I reiterate, if you're going to change the game to suit one phobia why are arachnophobics more important then agraphobics (fear of wide open spaces)or potamophobics (Fear of running water). I mean surely they deserve to be able to play the game too? _________________

Is the spider replacement mod in the PC version the stupidest mod you've ever heard of? When someone goes to the trouble of creating it, and it's been downloaded more than 2000 times, it can't really be that insane. As far as other phobias, according to wikipedia, arachnophobia is the most common.
| Quote: | | In Western societies as many as 55% of females and 18% of males are estimated to experience arachnophobia. |
That's 36.5% of all people within western society.

On the first day skyrim got released, there were 280 000 concurrent users playing it on steam at the same time. 2000 downloads is less then 1% of the total users playing it on PC on day 1.
If we take into account the like 3.4 million coppies it sold in like two days, then you end up with the 2000 people that thought it was an issue being like 0.006 of 1 percent of the sales.
So yes, asking a company to modify and patch a game to suit the fears of what will ammount to like, less then 1 hundredth of one percent of their user base is insane. _________________

blah blah blah... can you not read? 36.5% of western society.
The 2000+ number was from a single mod on a single website. I didn't look into other variations or sites.

I can read, but I can also do maths and if it was that big a problem then the numbers aren't adding up.
But why think for ourselves, I mean Wikipedia is always 100% accurate and there's no way that part of the 36.5 % is people missatributing a fear of spiders to a true phobia. _________________

Well, wikipedia also says less than 3% of Americans suffer from agoraphobia, so use your logic on that.

Uh 3% of Americans suffering from agoraphobia fits pretty nicely into that actually. _________________

It's unreasonable to expect a company to put in a mod to compensate for arachnophobes because there is literally no company that does that in any game ever, and arachnophobes regardless of how loud they are about spiders are still a gigantic minority.
If there's a petition I'd sign, it'd be the one that'd allow minor modding to Skyrim on consoles in general so that people can fix/alter numerous things, much like how UT3 was on the PS3. But yeah I wouldn't be signing something to do about people being afraid of spiders and in a video game of all things. _________________

No man, you were saying that the wikipedia figure of 36.5% is made up of people that are just scared of spiders, as well as people that truly have arachnophobia, so therefore it would be more accurate to say that it must be less than 36.5% (which I tend to agree with)... using that same logic on agoraphobia (fear of going outside), the actual percentage of people that have agoraphobia is even less than 3%, since a lot of them must be just to lazy to go outside or something.
You asked "if you're going to change the game to suit one phobia why are arachnophobics more important then agraphobics (fear of wide open spaces)or potamophobics (Fear of running water)".
Well, the answer is: up to 36.5% of people suffer arachnophobia, up to 3% of people suffer agoraphobia, and a phobia of rivers and creeks or whatever is even more obscure.
Just sign the petition, or don't. I don't give a fuck.
What annoys me is how you just come in, guns blazing every now and then, like some kind of retard, trying to shoot down what I'm saying without using the soft matter inside your skull.

Can irrational fears really translate into a video game? Aren't we blurring the lines of reality?

^ It's to do with how they move and bite and stuff. If you know someone who has an irrational fear of spiders, show them the spiders in Skyrim and see how they react. It sounds silly, but maybe it's something you have to see for yourself.

FUS DA SPIDERS!
Now that the arachnophobes are gone, can we go back to talking about Skyrim? _________________

Maybe there were no petitions.
I get it though. You guys are all really tough, not being scared of little spiders and stuff.
@grim-one: ummm... I'm not an arachnophobe. Was that directed at me? Because I thought the only arachnophobes here were Nikki (and iirc, pixie)...

Maybe they can replace the spiders with clowns.. Everyone loves clowns!! Right!!
Would be perfect. Anytime I need time away from the misses go find some Skyrim clowns and I'd have an empty room. _________________

Come on, really?
I get that some people are afraid of spiders, and I get that it may freak them out that there are spiders in a game. But to actively ask a company to make a mod on the console to patch out spiders for a minority is ridiculous. This game has sold close to 10 million now and the mod hasn't even crossed 100,000 downloads and that's on the PC of all things (and that is on Skyrim Nexus, which is the absolute biggest modding site for Skyrim). It's a giant minority and as much as you'd want for Bethesda to care, they're really not going to bother.
I'm not tough because I can handle spiders fine, I never even implied that, I just think it's completely unreasonable to ask this of Bethesda. Pixiegirl is absolutely an arachnophobic, but even she was able to stomach through the game with spiders regardless of her unease with them.
Pretty much if you really want it done, buy the PC version then. Otherwise it's not happening because to put it blunt no one really cares, and putting mods into console versions is a pain in the arse, particularly with Microsoft being prissy with updates. _________________

Nah. Just bored at work and the discussion seemed pretty pointless. IMHO that 36% arachnophobic figure is grossly overestimated. Unless you define 'arachnophobic' as anything from "avoids licking spiders" to "avoids buildings/trees/grass in case there are spiders". _________________
