After last year's rousing success, I expected to see a thread earlier. In any case, I've decided to try my hand at organising this year's Steaming Santa. Not to be confused with Vervain's PALGN Secret Santa. I'm re-using Jarrod's set of rules/guidelines from last year, since they cover pretty much everything.

Why Steam?
Prices on Steam can be quite varied, but during the holiday season many games go on sale. Every year Steam put on huge Christmas sales. That means a whole lot of games get some serious price cuts, allowing gamers to get a lot of bang for their buck. The crippled US dollar also means us Aussies can buy our games for nearly 1:1 the US price.

Why gift?
Because you dont have to do anything. No window shopping, no present wrapping, no packing, and no mailing. You can park your lazy arse in your computer/lounge chair and gift the game from the comfort of your home, and you dont need to forward your address to a stranger. Plus, it feels good to gift.

How does one gift on Steam?
During the check-out process of a normal purchase, there is an option to send your purchase as a gift. All you need to do is either enter recepient's email address, or select their Steam profile if they are added as a friend. Due to this process giftees will be able to see who was their gifter. Hence the title 'Steaming Santa'.

Okay, so what do we do and what are the rules?
A list will be created of all people who wish to participate. People who wish to keep their Steam ID private, outside of their gifter, are to PM me their Steam ID to be passed on.
People will not be told who their Steaming Santa is, even though they will know once they have been gifted. We can keep some mystery.

Create a Steam wishlist. It's not hard. Go to the store, look at games you'd like, and click "add to wishlist". The button is right there on every game. Creating a wishlist lets people know what you want but dont have. If you dont create a wishlist, dont whine if you get something you dont like.

For the love of god check what somebody owns before you buy. You'll have their Steam ID, so search the community for them and check their library. Dont gift somebody Portal if they already own Portal. I dont even know if it's possible!

You need to have 100+ posts in order to take part.

Pricing guidelines:
$20 - $30. During Christmas sales you can get quite a lot for very little money. No need to buy the latest greatest games, just whatever you think your person might like (especially something on their wishlist). Because of Andrew's secret santa taking priority, prices have been set low to attract more people.

Deadline for joining: December 25th. All gifts to be sent out by the end of the month.

Yeah uneven numbers should not be an issue.

Random would be good, but if nothing else just make a big loop:
A -> B
B -> C
C -> A
