Code Geass and Death Note are some of the best anime around so it's kind of hard to top those.
I would recommend giving Durarara, Baccano, Cowboy Bebop, GTO and Welcome to the NHK a go though.

Trumps Code Geass? That's a fairly big ask. I'd recommend checking out Guilty Cown since it was created by the same guy who did Code Geass. Also Mirai Nikki since you seem to like more psychologically focused anime. Maybe Evangelion too. I'm surprised that you could watch 15 episodes of Steins;Gate and then say that you don't like it though. _________________

Been watching the reboot of Hunter X Hunter. It's certainly not for everyone, but as a fan of the original one, I am enjoying the reboot (which does have its flaws).
It's more of an adventure anime with mystery elements and some darker parts (which can be misleading from the direction of the first few episodes). The main characters all have their interesting elements and because they all have different goals, it is interesting to see them work together.
The first story arc revolves around the hunter exam and I found it interesting the way it all was handled.
The Anime News Network seems to rank it quite well as well.

@Coaltrain
Well you've set the bar low with those two. Death Note was just painfull and Code Geass was just full of hilarious racisim. (Serioulsy that show made me cringe)
Baccanno will basically shit on everything youve ever watched. 1940's american gangsters with super powers. so fucking good
FLCL is amazing and is only 6 episodes. Surreal and brilliant.
Samurai Mother fucking Champloo. Mugen is simply one of the coolest characters ever, great episodic show that doesn't force the story in the last two eps like Cowboy bebop does, also a soundtrack by the RZA pretty much seals the deal.
Afro Samurai: Basically Samuel L Jackson as a samurai. If that doesn't tickel your testicals then you're dead to me.
Genius Party Part 1/2: Bunch of short flims made by a bunch fo really good directors, yo'yo's in quality but when it's hot it's fucking scorching.
Gurren Lagan: Turn off your brain and enjoy some absolute insanity.
Basquash!: Basketball with giant robots and giant tits. It's like Gurren Lagann with sport.
If you want to try some movies try
Dead Leaves: Absolute bottled insanity, one of the coolest art styles put into animation.
Tekkonkinkreet: Some of the most gorgeous animation you'll ever see.
Mindgames: Done by the guy that did Tekkonkinkreet and trading in it's touching story of brotherly love for an absolute of nonsense and amazingness.
Aachi and Ssipak: Korean not Japanese but eh, a future where people get paid by the amount they shit, a porn star gets anal fucked with a dildo strapped with heaps of shit sensors so makes a fortune everytime she takes a dump. Amazing movie much better then it sounds. _________________

They seem to appeal a lot to first time anime watchers. I loved Death Note. I've only seen half of the first season of Code Geass... wasn't really my thing.
Mind Game! That movie is fucking awesome. The insane story and animation style is just brilliant. Detroit Metal City also from Studio 4C is hilarious.

saw the first couple of episodes and was pretty eh on the entire thing. From what I saw of previews and what not though the later episodes actually get Trish and shit into it instead of Dante chaparoning some little kid and shit.
The animation was my main bummer, it looks like they're trying too hard to mimic Hellsings style but they're not that good at it so it looks great in still frames but moving it all looks a bit rubish, and kind of devolves into "Dante lunging at the screen, black screen with a cut going across it" style of fight scenes instead of you know... actual coreography and animation. That shit just bugs me. _________________

My top three still remain:
Macross Frontier
Martian Successor Nadesico
Planetes
For some mecha anime suggestions:
Mobile Suit Gundam 00
The Big O
Overman King Gainer
Gravion/Gravion Zwei/(Dancougar Nova)
Eureka Seven
Gurren Lagann (The two movies are watchable if you want the cliffnotes version)

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'll give it a shot. I doubt my taste would be the same as yours though Benza, if Code Geass made you cringe
@Pagan's Mind:
I also wanted to stop watching after R1 of Geass. It really wasn't that good. But R2 picks it up incredibly. R2 is like the universe compared to R1. _________________

Mainly just the unfortunate implications of the racism in it. I'm sure it's a fine show if you can get past that but I couldn't. _________________

I thought Code Geass R1 was much better than R2. R2 is a complete and utter mess. Mind you it's a hilariously entertaining mess with a fantastic ending.
I remember watching Death Note and really enjoying it, but then I watched the compilation movies about a year ago... They actually made me never want to watch the series again. _________________

FUCKING REDLINE!
I know I'm slow on the uptake here but good god was this movie good, It's the kind of movie that I want to take out to dinner, then maybe go see a movie with, then get really drunk and fuck over the back of my couch till the neighbors complain. SO FUCKING GOOD! Animation was superb, the art style was gorgeous, the plot was fucking balls out ridiculous, the main dude was Ragna the Blooddge in a racing car, he raced a hotted up musscle car against futurisitc giant hover cars. There isn't a single thing I didn't like about this movie. _________________

I bought the Redline Blu-Ray on Saturday and I really enjoyed it. Of course it was one of the dumbest movies I'd seen in ages but it was just a hell of a lot of fun and looked gorgeous to boot. _________________

One Piece Unlimited Cruise SP is yet another February release for us.
| Quote: | The newly revealed European release date for the game: February the 10th, 2012. At the moment there’s no word on a possible North American release.
Nintendo also revealed that the first print of the game will come in a bundle with a limited edition figurine of Portgas D. Ace. Finally, they published the cover art of the game and the pack shot of the bundle. |
I think I'll be picking it up. _________________
