Ehh, I actually thought the FF13 reviews were pretty generous, since the characters and story in 13 weren't all that great imo. I don't think 12 had great characters either, but at least they were tolerable. 13 had way too many obnoxious characters that I disliked.

13's story was pretty good. Not spectacular, but good. I only liked Lightning and Sazh though.

I was waiting for you to bring him up. Given Balthier's background, he was supposed to the cool character, but he just never got up there in the game and was flat for most of it.
FF13 was interesting for character development. Because the main storyline was traveling like a bullet, the character development had a lot of pacing problems.
Snow was easily the worst character for me. I couldn't stand the way he behaved most of the time. Sazh was really good for that one critical moment, but then was mostly irrelevant for the rest of the game. Hope wasn't all that great, but he could have been a lot worse (*cough* Snow *cough*). Vanille and Fang could have been so much better, but because of their background and story pacing, they were almost skeleton characters. Lightning was a decent character.

I like Tetsuya Nomura's character designs but he really needs to drop the Sora/Neku/Hope type characters.

I didn't mind her voice acting. I've heard worse.
The only thing that left me mentally scarred was hearing her really enjoy summoning Hecatoncheir

Fang was the one they ruined with the voice acting. Vanile sounded bad, but Fang was just hilariously bad.

I think we can all agree on one thing. Sqaure-Enix is not a premier developer anymore. Long gone of the days where they make guranteed AAA+ games.

^Which never got released here! (I loved Xenogears though, annoying when no one else around me knows about it).
For me, Square Enix lost their awesome title when I bought Unlimited Saga just for the FFX-2 (I'm a sucker of FF series!) Prologue video and played Unlimited Saga. It doesn't stop me from getting the FF series though, even though there may be better RPG titles from the East out there, I am still a slave to playing anything FF.

I thought Unlimited SaGa was pretty decent. Better than SaGa Frontier 2 at any rate. It takes a while to get over the randomness of it all, but I had fun with it. Definitely not a game I'd recommend to anyone though The SaGa games are designed with replayability in mind, which is great and separates them from most Square titles (but who has time to play RPGs through multiple times anymore?).

 Was the voice actor outback Australian or something? I had a feeling the developer wanted to make people believe that normal people lived on cocoon, and down on the infested land of Pulse..was Australians lol
