haha I actually had a couple of sentences about that guy in there but realized that I couldn't really work "FEZ" into being a game based on personal truth etc.
... god I hate that guy... _________________

Probably Gabe Newell, though it's hard to pick. He still has involvement in many of Valve games and his company continually releases quality products. Also Steam as a platform has helped the PC industry in general a tremendous amount with distribution, which goes even beyond game development.
There's too many solid developers out there at the moment to pick just one. Ueda is fantastic but as a visionary and director, nothing more.
EDIT: Sid Meier! That guy has been around since '82 and still making ridiculously good games. _________________

From my understanding and the presentations at E3 this year, Cliffy's role wasn't as direct as it has been in the past... one of those situations where other guys at Epic were being given a go to finish things off, while Cliffy was being wheeled out to present it. And if we're talking game design, well, I don't consider Gears of War to be exemplary.
With all due respect, of course, Cliffy B is a fantastic guy to talk to about games. He's got a really straight-forward and passionate way of approaching things. And he likes Tim Tams |
Is Cliff a nice guy Jeremy? His Cliffy B nickname fills me with irrational hatred and makes my douchebag senses tingle, but I want to like him because he made Jazz Jackrabbit. I feel very conflicted.
Oh, yeah, forgot to say.... Miyamoto and Sid Meier. _________________

What? No love for Peter Molyneaux?
Yeah didn't think so.... I did love all the games Bullfrog put out. I guess he might not have been the driving designer back then though. _________________

As a Suda fan, I have a copy (though I haven't played it yet). _________________

I agree. As far as I know he's only the creative director in his upcoming projects. I'd like to see him go back to directing and writing like he did with the original NMH and Killer 7.

My pick would be the Houser's. Rockstar has for the last two years done very different things. Sure Rockstar North didn't make LA Noire or Red Dead but they funded them and added their own touches. GTA is one of the biggest franchises in gaming and one of the most controversial. I love that they push the medium forward in different ways. They are a developer that don't let market forces control their games and mostly create whatever they want.

That would be Jade Raymond then .
That's a good example of Ubisoft cheaply pushing sex appeal of an individual ahead of all the other hard working people making a game (which, to be fair, wasn't her call and as far as I'm aware she wasn't happy with). If any individual deserves credit for the series, its Patrice Desilets. _________________

Theme Park/Hospital, Magic Carpet, Syndicate, Dungeon Keeper, Populous... so much gold. Looking now and Molyneaux does seem to have been in charge then. I guess he got a little too aspirational after that. _________________

Call me a fanboy, but my pick would be Casey Hudson. Though he works with many talented people, his core team has been responsible for Knights of the Old Republic and the Mass Effect series, two of the best titles in gaming history.
Despite the murmurs about Mass Effect 3, I think he will deliver another solid product. Once the trilogy has concluded, I really look forward to seeing what he does next. _________________

The greatest thing to come from Peter Molyneaux legacy is the fan twitter petermolydeux, because not only at the satirical and stupid game ideas hillarious, but some of them are legitimately interesting.

Hmm... yeah he's good. While he does have the air of someone who is enjoying being regarded as he is, he'll give you his full attention and be quite honest with his answers.
Amercian McGee was a stiff...

Jesus, you just named the only other video game guy who I hate for his name alone. It seems American McGee didn't choose he's name but still, he could have some decency and have it legally changed. He did make Bad Day LA though so I'm conflicted on him also. _________________

That's the weird thing though. Back in Bullfrog they had crazy ideas but managed to pull them off. Must have worked his self-confidence up to astronomical levels. _________________
