Worst game you bought this year?

So, we need one of these to counter all the "best game of the year" threads.

For me, Tekken Hybrid. Luckily I returned it, possibly the most insulting game release of recent years, and I'm a Tekken master. This "game" has single-handedly turned me off Namco, such an insult.

And before anyone takes me to task about the Tekken Master comment - I meant TAG 1. Just to be clear. Anyone that wants to dispute that is welcome to challenge me, I'm not a keyboard warrior.

It's like i am in a dimly lit basement with a small speaker in one corner, broken glass and barbed wire spread out on the floor in front of me.
The speaker crackles to life and a voice can be heard over it saying "Duke Nukem Lives"
I throw myself down onto the broken glass and start rolling in it, i grab the barbed wire and start lashing myself with it. After 5 minutes of this i am a bloodied pulp covered in broken glass with small pieces of wire stuck in me.
I struggle back to my feet, the speaker crackles to life again...."and yet, he still lives"
I throw myself back down onto the glass and barbed wire writhing in agony as the wire and glass again slash at my already broken body.
I crawl across the glass and discover a large knife waiting for me and plunge it deep into my own heart.
The knife has duke nukem forever emblazoned on the handle

Fuck that game.

Probably Uncharted 3, but I mean that in a good and bad way. Bad in the sense that I wasn't anywhere near as impressed with it as I was Uncharted 2, and the games as a whole felt rushed, not to mention had aiming problems / missing blur that was patched after I finished. But good in the sense that I still enjoyed it and felt it was worth my money, and for that to be the worst game I've played this year is saying something.

Wait, what? Jarrod, Jarrod, Jarrod - the worst game you've played or the worst you've bought? I could understand if you had only bought a few games this year and Uncharted 3 was, in your opinion, the worst of the lot, but to say its the worst you've played? That's amazing, you must have played only gems this year. If so, I commend you for your taste.

I think the worst game I've played is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. The worst I've actually bought is probably The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword; that is a game which doesn't respect players' time at all, and while there's a lot of amazing stuff there, the overall experience is lacklustre. Still, if that's as bad as it got for me this year, it's been a pretty good buying year.

Now the best game I've bought this year, quite ironically, is either Arkham City or Uncharted 3

I'm recalling my choice and changing it.
Firstly, I don't think it's really fair to list Eat Lead as a game I bought this year for being shit since I bought it with the full expectation it would be shit and it's like 3 years old. Secondly cause I'd completly forgotten abodu LA Noir.

Fuck LA Noir. You're a shitty horribly designed, ugly game. I mean hey sure, lets try brand new technology to give increasingly life like facial performances.... but did no one look at this and go "HOLY FUCK THEY LOOK LIKE ALIENS THAT HAVE SKINNED HUMANS AND ARE WEARING THERE SKINS AND ATTEMPTING TO EXPRESS HUMAN EMOTIONS!" wich leads me believe that everyone designing this game had their fucking eyes closed Seriously their these horrible approximations of human emotions that I'm supposed to read facial ticks and expressions on? FUCK YOU LA NOIR! I wouldn't want to touch those mother fuckers with a 10 foot pole. Let a lone try and read their god damm reactions.

But hey new technology can have teething problems and I shouldn't berate the game solely based on that, so how about the absolute fucking tedious monotony of the main character? I mean in a game that's core premises is built around the characters expressing emotion, they give you one of the single most fucking dull and uninteresting characters I've ever seen in a game. Did anyone play the game Crystal Caves back on DOS? It was plat former with a dude in a purple jump suit and a red hard hat killing monsters in a mine in space. That guy had no dialogue and was comprised of about 10 pixels and he still had more personality then the main dude in LA Noir.

So what's that left with, driving segments that have all the fun of GTA 4, wich is a game I've gone on at length about how much I hate it, a generic uninteresting city, and repetitive investigations?

It's amazing how much I just don't like this game. Everything about it is a cluster fuck of shittyness, bad design, and uncanny valley.
And what's more other games have seen this fucked up attempt at cg acting and are like "Fuck yeah that's awesome" So I got stuck with horrifying inhuman looking monsters in AC: Revelations my faviourte gaming series. So not only did it suck on it's own, but it's suck is leaking into other non sucky games.

And that's not even touching on the clusterfuck of everything that happend behind the scenes of the game.

In conclusion.
Fuck you LA Noir. You're a shitty horrible game and the entire gaming world would be better off if you'd never existed.

I didn't think it was a completely horrible, but i was sitting there wondering when it would get hard, it holds your hand through the entire fucking game...i mean shit, why even have clues that are useless if it tells you straight out that it is a useless clue....

Hyperdimension Neptunia. Actually it's probably the worst game I've played in recent memory. The music is awful and the battle system is boring. When you keep mashing the "skip" button in battle there must be something really wrong. Despite that I'm eager to get the sequel as they seem to have fixed it up a bit.

Deadly Premonition

Yep, I get how fucken weird and insane it's supposed to be and I appreciate that part of it, but I'm too time-poor to trudge through the broken gameplay and boring drives to get to the amusing parts. Camp value alone won't cut it and I really couldn't be fucked with it.

Bought it on impulse for about $7. Shit house.

I am a JRPG fan, but it's just too cutesy and effeminate for me. I'm sure the game's fine, I just can't bring myself to continue playing it. I was dropping man points by the second.

oh heck yes, I'm with Dendog on this one. BF3 was cruddy. Which is a shame cos BC2 was really good.

To be fair a lot of what I didn't like about the game was related to the fact that MP did not work for me. Constant dropouts, blackscreens, freezeing, unexplained memory errors, etc etc. Each patch seemed to fix a problem and create 2 more. Pretty much turned me off origin forever.

This would have been ok if the SP and co-op had been good, but they were bland has hell.

So certainly the biggest waste of money this year, if not the worst game as well.

@xtreme i only just got fifa 12, i have had pes for a while, both games seem to be a leap backwards really....the graphics for fifa are bloody awful, at least the dudes in pes actually look like who they are meant to be, but honestly both games are not that different when it gets down it....fifa has got a lot of options and is a good representation of football, but honestly, the gameplay in pes strikes a better balance between sim and arcade.

Britney's Dance Beat on GBA, it may be old but I only bought it this year And that's saying something since I also bought Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing this year. I summarised my thoughts on BDB here, tl;dr is it's the worst game I've ever played (and I've played some pretty crappy shovelware).

Brink.

Everything looked so good until you played it and realised that instead of fixing the issues that plagued the design of the game, Splash Damage just put quick fixes to alleviate the problems.

Oh, and it still doesn't run well on a large amount of ATI cards. Fuck 'em.
