Harp is awful. I don't know how they could think that is any good.

I never had trouble with the harp....But it's pretty pointless. Especially how you can't just play a certain song with it, you just strum when the game tells you to.

So the main theme of Skyward Sword "Ballad of the Goddess" is quite the phenomenal track:

I wonder where they get such inspiration...hey for fun, lets play Ballad of the Goddess backwards! (specifically 0:57)

Nintendo, you sneaky sneaky dog! It's Zelda's Lullaby backwards!

That's so awesome. I play Ballad of the Goddess as well though. It's the sound track of the year in a game.

I don't get why they'd do a harp. I mean I know it would be a repeat but wouldn't the conductors wand from wind waker fit kind of perfectly with the wii-mote?

ok so I found the monster under skyloft and the more I talk to the guys on the ground is making me realise.

This world is just absolutely fucked

I was actually shocked to find any sentient creatures on the ground because of the whole set up story.

What the fuck godess? The world goes to hell and you're like "Well I like the humans, I'll save them from the monsters and raise them above all the problems and shit but gorons, plant people, weird ferret people? Nah fuck you, you guys can just deal with that shit"

I mean that's just... what the fuck?

Is it any wonder Hyrule turns into a land where literally everything is trying to kill you in the first Zelda, man these races must just get fucking sick to death of being shat on while the gods play faviourtes with the humans/hylians.

ummm OK. Story doesn't really make a lot of sense yes, but it's as good as most of the other stuff out there.

I mean come on, it's Japanese.

The characters in this game are absolutely amazing though, I like Zelda towns/characters the most in any game. It's taken a leaf from OoT in that regard.

no the story makes total sense. I fucking love the Zelda stories.

That wasn't a complaint about the game more just a general musing on the world it has.

One of my faviourte things about Zelda games is (And I know as far as Nintendo is concerned there is no relevence in the story between games they just do whatever the fuck the want) but kind of working out how they all fit in together and the overall story is always a lot of fun.

I mean in Ocarina of Time you get Gannondorf taking over hyrule and turning it to shit and you think "Well he's kind of a shitty ruler" Then you play Wind waker and find out that the moblins and shit are actually sentient inteligent creatures? So then you take that info back into Ocarina and you realise well yeah Gannondorf made life shit house for the hyrulians, but the Moblins and all those other monsters and everything had life pretty sweet under him, so then he takes on this kind of fighting against the ruling class for what is essentially an under class.

Then you get skyward sword and you get the info that the humans are quiet litteraly a race of people chosen by the gods to be more important then every other race on the earth. Then you take that info onto Ocarina of Time and realise that Humans are hte only race shown to have really diversified and spread out, we have the mainland hylians, the gerudos in the desert, the sheiks who may be a seperate race or maybe just a servant class, the Kokiri kids who seem to be an off shoot of humans at some point. Where as the Gorons and Zora are still pretty insular and haven't really been able to diversify at all.

And if you look at the overall story you end up with Gannondorf as this guy that came from a weird insular society, took up the plight of these underdog unloved races that have been explictley stated that they were rejected by the gods.

I love that shit.

Also gotta second the zelda towns. I think there main strength is that they have a really good number of people. I mean a game like Skyrim for all it does right just has too many NPCs for you to really give a shit about any of them. I don't care if the random archer dude in white run gets his shit done cause he's like one of 400 people asking me to do shit for him, the Zelda games limit it to like 20 or 30 people usually and it lets you care about them a lot more because of it.

OoT time story was pretty rubbish. The god stuff and cut scenes were not needed. I don't see this as being any different.

see gotta disagree there, I loved the ocarina of time story. The cut scenes and the god stuff was half the reason why I loved it (The gameplay was obviously the other half, I wouldn't have played that game as much as I did for just the story)

Ok. lets back this train the fuck up.

So I'm up to the desert bit, and you hit crystal that revert the area into a couple hundred years past.
So what's in the past? Robots and goblins with fucking laser swords?

So what there was some massive technologically advanced society before something happened, does that mean that all zelda games are basically a post appocalypse game?

Just finished temple 6 last night, 40 hours in. Not sure how much is left now (I have read that it does kick off again when you think you're close). I have all but 1 heart container and 65 star thingies. I think I've pretty much done everything up till this point.

Game is friggin unbelievably good. The more you play the better it gets. Some of the new ideas are just fantastic and really mix up the series. They've got so much right though with the side-quests, exploration and just level design. So many times I've thought, WOW that just cool. It really is a metroid template fused with zelda. I can't stop playing it. I think his is gonna be a 10 from me and probably my game of the year.

I've been suffering from a really fucked up glitch that's stopped me from playing, in the middle of playing the game the wii-mote just completly fucks itself and locks holding it flat pointing forward to having link in some weird spatic position holding the sword behind him, then everything is based off that (Kind of like what would happen if you held the joystick in a direction on the gamecube while it was booting)

Like it works for about 20 minutes or so then just cocks up and does that. It makes it kind of impossible to play properly.

Anyone know what could be doing it?

Yeah, there's a bit more to do but you're getting close to the end. You're dangerously close to a part of the game that is bugged and potentially game breaking. When you've realised what your next mission is, post so I/anyone can make sure you avoid the bug.

What was your playtime Jarrod? I don't feel as though the game is as big as Twilight Princess at this point. More compact maybe. I had 60 hours when I finished TP.

I don't recall but it was somewhere between 40 - 50. Hours seem smaller than Twilight Princess, but I also felt I saw/did a lot more in Skyward Sword, probably due to how much actual content there is as opposed to the long treasure hunts and boring stretches of Twilight Princess. I'm also a pretty slow player, as I like to wander and take everything in.

Maybe I have pain to come towards the end but I've only gone #$#@ once over a fetch quest (water fetch). I felt that bit was over the top and unneeded.

Wait, there is a game-breaking glitch at the point where the order is up to you?
Guess I was just lucky.

I did the mines second myself, had no idea about the glitch. In fact, Volcano, mines, forest seemed to work.

The glitch isn't so much the order as a character you can speak to. You can do the mines at any point, but if speak to a certain character after finishing them and haven't left them to last it locks of whatever is left.
