So I started playing my punching Orc again, and realised that the quick go I had as my theif to see if the patch had fixed up the frame rate issues autosaved over my orc games when he was at like lvl 14 and had to jump back to an earlier save at level 8.
damm
Also realized he's gonna level a lot slower since he has no weapon skills to level up. I was wondernig if it was even worth continuing to play him, then I beserked mode and choke slammed a bandit king....
.... all doubts gone. _________________

As far as I can tell there are two finishing animations for unarmed.
One you grab em by the neck and repeatedly punch em in the face till they stop moving.
The other you punch em in the face then choke slam em.
Also found out if you hold down both attack buttons at once to do a focus attack you do a 1,2,3 combo. _________________

So I've started the game.. only 2 or 3 hours in to the game now, just haven't got time to play at the moment. I went with a female High-Elf character... I was going to pick an Argonian or the cat-person one but after reading the descriptions and talents, opted for high-elf instead.
I tried the sword/shield combo and while it is ok I have settled on dual-wielding magic at this stage. I find the switching between 'favourites" to be a bit clunky.. and I will definitely need to turn off the Mouse Accel/Smoothing thing.. but other than that I like it so far. Plays fine on my 5750 on "high" settings.
I've been to Riverwood and now on to Whiterun.. found a few random mobs around the landscape and a little bandit hideout etc. In my recent play of Oblivion, even with all the latest and greatest mods applied, I found that the game felt very dated with a lot of "nothing" in the landscape.. In the first 2 or 3 hours of Oblivion, just free-roaming, I came across a single bandit and a single wolf plus some mud crabs.. that's it! Whereas in the equally short time in Skyrim, I have come across about 4 or 5 times as much "stuff" to interact with.. it only gets better from here. _________________

I think that's probbably one of the biggest strengths of the game, you can't really walk more then 5-10 minutes in any direction from anywhere without finding something
When you get far enough to get dragons it just gets even crazier.
So on my Punching Orc.
I'm playing him by certain rules, basically approaching every fight as an honourable fight. No ranged attacks, no sneak attacks, never start a fight only defend myself etc.
Basically I'm playing him like Dudley from SF3 in an RPG.
This makes it really fucking hard to get a dragons attention.
Seriously does anyone have any suggestions? _________________

I didn't realise there were finishing animations when fighting dragons. It's pretty awesome, though the effect is ruined somewhat when you clip through a fellow fighter whilst the animation goes down.
Also, my character entered a first person kill animation the other night... but the animation never happened. He simply froze for about ten seconds while the bear kept swiping at him. Then, suddenly, he unfroze and the bear was dead.
Apart from that, fun game, though I need to find places where I can reliably mine moonstone, anyone know of one? _________________ My Photos

There's a shout you'll get as you progress through the main quest that will force dragons to land.
Be aware that it can also force them to glitch up and fly backwards. :/ _________________ Twitter | XBL: Tamaaya | PSN: stormo | GameCentre/Steam: StorminNorman

I love that shout, it makes you feel like such a god damned Beastlord.
Also minor update: Now have full daedric armour with mass enchants, weidling a two hander and now working on getting the 15 Daedric Artifacts.
Less than 10 achievements to go. Hnnnngg _________________

Speaking of Daedra, do the Vigilant of Stendarr have any actual quests associated with them?
Or are they just mobile curing stations? _________________ Twitter | XBL: Tamaaya | PSN: stormo | GameCentre/Steam: StorminNorman

As much as I love this game, I'm getting sick of the bugs. I've run into 2 dragons flying backwards, now. You can't attack them. It's annoying. So many other glitches, too. Still, everything else is fantastic.
Currently taking my imperial chick through the college of winterhold sidequest line.

I don't know if anyone else has had this problem, but ever since I installed the patch (ps3), I've had the game freeze a number of times. I had a few lag issues before the patch but never freezing.
And then my save gets corrupted because I've had to reset the console. Luckily there are multiple autosaves. _________________

^I follow a couple rules, make sure to delete auto saves every now and then and when manually saving always create a new file. Just go back and delete old saves if you hit the limit. This generally minimises save game bloat, which every Elder Scrolls game has suffered from. Lag is inevitable with all the info that gets added to your save file.
I noticed the recent PS3 patch significantly shortens the amount of time persistent bodies remain in game. Just think, every enemy you kill leaves a body, the game saves all information regarding their placement and equipment left on them. This causes your save file to bloat, among other things, which in turn causes your game to slowly but surely lag more and more.
Even little things like if you search an enemies body, try to take all items and always sell them. Try not to store too much shit in your house and never, ever drop stuff. Dropping or putting items back in a dungeon chest or enemy body leaves them there for aaaaages. Basic rule: if you touch it, either use it or sell it. This way the game can cycle items out properly. _________________

All horses can die in a fire.
So I'm killing the dragon at Arcwind point. I try to leave the horse somewhere safe so it won't run off on me. Horse decides to run off anyway. I go looking for it, it's run up some stairs and through a trap and has stopped just on the other side of said trap. Fair enough. Get on the horse, some mega beastlord comes out and one hits me.
I didn't save.
Load, kill the dragon again. Horse has run off once more, and to the exact same spot. Really can't be fucked killing the dragon again, so I make a new save and try to retrieve it. I am now considering standing back and making a horse roast.
EDIT: I ended up getting out of it by doing some straight up Young Guns 2 shit, jumping on the horse, gunning it, and riding down a mountain. Good times. _________________

Is there a general place I should be looking for shouts? Or just in dungeons? _________________

Also, shout in towns. Not at people but just in the sky. Eventually a guard may ask you to stop, and this usually triggers a courier a bit later on which gives you a letter from a random pedestrian that tells you the location of another shout. After completing those quests I usually shout in another town again and yeah, same thing. _________________

Awesome thanks! I haven't seen any little dragon heads, but I'll try that shouting in town technique. _________________

If you want some locations, the mountain directly south east of Riften has a temple that gives you one, there's one south of the town that is at the bottom of the greybeards mountain, along the cliff north of riften there's one, in the town at the bottom of the greybeareds mountaint there's a quest in there grave crypt thing that gives you one.
Thats a couple off the top of my head. _________________
