Thieves Guild questline is awesome, and the armour you get is awesome, but... Nightingale? |

Increased carry weight and you can do extra heavy attacks.
Alot of perks you can't add until your destruction/restoration etc is at a certain level anyway, but you should at least spend a perk on increasing your one-handed or destruction magic power, whatever you're choosing to specialise in. I always have a few spare points ready to throw on a perk though once I'm a high enough level.

also sprinting for longer. That extra long sprint has got me out of a lot of binds.
Also if you're going to do archery then you'll want to stack up on stamina, once you get the perk that lets you zoom in and slow down time, it eats your stamina. _________________

I love that you can still abuse the terrain to travel just about anywhere on foot in the same way you could back in Morrowind. Jump and strafe, jump and strafe... _________________

STILL waiting on my copy from OzGameshop.. *sigh*
It's extremely frustrating to see everyone having so much fun with the game and not having it yet. I knew I wouldn't have it one release day.. I was fine with that.. I knew it wouldn't be the first week. I was fine with that.. but now the second week is over and I still don't have it.. I am not fine with that. *sigh* _________________

Anyway playing Skyrim I was getting a real big desire to play Morrowind. Installed it yesterday and after dying against a bandit I thought screw it and started cheating. Turned on god mode and changed Acrobatics and Athletics to a thousand. Dam Morrowind is awesome.

I've spent nearly 120hrs on my Imperial Mage/Warrior character now. He's level 41. With the perks, I've spent most of my points on speech and smithing (got my speech up to 100 with the Riften meadery trader persuade exploit), so upgrading most stuff on the table or the grindstone will get it to Epic levels, and all my favourite stores have an extra 500 gold.
atm, best skills are:
* Speech - 100
* Smithing - 68
* Sneak - 63
* Two-handed - 61
* Illusion - 60
* Enchanting - 58
* Archery - 53
* Heavy Armor - 53
I've always got my Blades Sword, with 29 damage, that has been enchanted with Soul Trap, so I tend to trap a few souls in any empty soul gems and then enchant stuff to sell/store at my house. Most of the time though, I prefer sneaking with the bow or getting messy with two-handed weapons. Right now I've got a Dwarven Battleaxe with 44 damage (+12 fire damage if the moon is out).
The finishing move animations are a nice addition, they needed a bit more polish though. Often, if a wall or something is in the way, the camera angle gets all messed up and next thing, you might be viewing the deathblow animation from inside your character's polygonal body, or the view becomes hindered somehow. I wouldn't mind if it was only 1 out of every 10 times, but it happens roughly half of the time for me, kind of annoying. Overall though, very nice addition, adds that little bit of extra satisfaction.
I'm not sure how I feel about not being able to jump mid-sprint. It feels really restrictive after Oblivion. I guess the trade-off is that you no longer pay for jumping with stamina though.
As I mentioned in a previous post, the horse-riding aspect could be better. Apart frrom the obvious omission of the 1st-person view, just more fluid, realistic animation would have been nice. I mean, hasn't Todd Howard played the Assassin's Creed series?
I only just found out a couple of days ago that you can zoom the 3rd-person cam in and out by clicking the right stick and holding it in, while using the left stick to zoom. Pretty cool to reach the top of some peak, switch to 3rd-person and zoom it right back for a look around.
With nearly 120hrs of playtime, compared to other games anyway, I don't feel as though I've really accomplished much. 17 dungeons cleared, 7 standing stones found, 21 quests, 65 misc objectives, 3 side-quests, 7 companions/winterhold/thieves quests... I imagine there's still heaps more to it, the gameworld is almost daunting with the rate at which it throws new quests and objectives at you.
Graphically and design-wise, huge step up from Oblivion. Apart from a couple of small niggles, I'm loving just about everything about Skyrim.

I've been playing through my main character again and managed to get a lot of skills to max. Also about level 51 now. So far:
Destruction - 100
Conjuration - 100
Smithing - 100
Enchanting - 100
Next up I'll probably be leveling sneak, one handed and light armour. Also managed to double enchant a full set of Elven Gear, a ring and amulet and now cast conjuration and destruction spells for free due to stacked reduction enchants.
Enchanting is to put it blunt fucking insane with what it can do to stats. I have boots and gloves that give me 40% more efficiency with sneak AND pickpocket. _________________

How is everyone finding the kill animations? What are your favorite weapons to use, and animations to trigger?
I'm playing what I like to call a Redguard Pyro-Warrior, level 21; a heavily armoured swordsman decked in Dwarven gear with a knack for blasting away enemies with a well placed Firebolt and shout of Firebreath. I experimented with dual wielding but found that even with criticals, I never was able to trigger the bad-ass kill animations I've been seeing online. After being stingy with perks, at level 15 I heavily invested in One-Handed, specialising in swordsmanship and have been enjoying the decapitation, impaling and lunging animations and executions, which seem to be more frequent when I only use one sword and a shield.
Lydia is my companion and is also decked out in full Dwarven gear, though both of us will be soon shifting to Ebony. Is there Orcish Armour? I've only seen the weapons. Anyway, her two-handed Warhammer is awesome and she caps fools and breaks their bones in seconds, but there only seems to be that one cool animation where she smacks them to the ground, then crushes their head with a final blow. Is there any other animations with two-handed Warhammers that anyone knows about?
And what about the animations with One-Handed Weapons I haven't used, like the War-Axes and Maces? Are there any cool ones?

I still haven't figured out how to enchant just yet. A lot of it has to do with that Soul Trap spell, yes? So confusing sometimes. I ignored it in Oblivion, though I shouldn't have because I saw what my brother did with it. I guess it's because I've been focusing on Smithing, as I always play the traditional Warrior in my first playthrough and then move onto a Mage or Stealth character, who is a little more witty. _________________

I was riding along, heading to my destination, then a blood dragon pops up. I'm only level 20, so he absolutely raped me. After a few goes of trying to kill it, I eventually gave up. I thought waiting 12 hours wouldn't make it appear. Bad idea. This time 2 blood dragons pop out, so I leg like I have never legged it before.
Look back, and see they're fighting something. So I go back to see if I can take advantage of that. And I totally did. They were fighting a giant and 2 mammoths. Let them tank all the damage while I just sat back and popped arrows.

Have only really used maces all the way through. There's some nice, 'whacks' for finishing moves and a cool decapitate animation (click my youtube sig for a video of it).
At first I didn't like the finishing moves but totally change my mind now, they're great! _________________ My YouTube game videos!

Smithing and enchanting go hand in hand, so it's worth experimenting with. Don't worry about trapping souls to start with, just buy soul gems (the ones that aren't empty) from stores, and use them to experiment with on the weapons and armor that you've smithed.

Don't forget that conjuration complements Enchanting extremely well. Once you get the soul perk for conjured weaponry, every kill you get with them will give you a soul, and it will also level whatever type of weapon you're using, eg conjured bows level archery. _________________

After doing the main quest the amount of random dragons has gone way up. Just fought 4 in about as many minutes. Just had an awesome glitch where after fighting a dragon an orc was acting like he was in water so he was swimming every where flying.
Just got Master Destruction spells. Lightning storm is godly. Killed in Elder dragon quick smart just by pointing at it. Shame the master flame spell is kind of useless. Killed a mammoth and a giant in about 3 seconds with only a quarter of magika gone. Way overpowered now so awesome.

Didn't have a chance to play much of this on the weekend but I think my Companion line quests are bugged. Apparently there are quests to cure Farkas or Vilkas. I'll try doing more of their random quests, hopefully that will trigger it, but how annoying.
