I hope they pull this off, I really enjoyed the first two games and over time accepted that a third game wouldn't happen. The new look of Max and the more colourful setting straying away from the noir theme of the first two games has added to the doubt as to whether this game could be any good.
The fact Rockstar are working on this gives me confidence that it will, that gameplay trailer is mouthwatering. As to whether the story does Max Payne any justice, who knows until March next year.
I definitely plan on getting this day one and more than likely will get the special edition.

Can everyone that decides to complain about the setting for Max Payne 3 not being Noir enough look up what the fucking word means first
Noir does not mean cold shadowy new york city streets with a private eye smoking underneath a lone lit up street lamp anymore then sci-fi means aliens with rubber heads and space ships. _________________

^ Regardless, as i've said before it still doesn't look as we'd expect a Max Payne game to look, and thats why people are worried. It's all about atmosphere _________________

And that's a fine argument (although I don't agree with it I think the new setting looks to be amazing, and an incredibly appropriate direction for the game to go.), just stop misusing noir.
Honestly I think more things need to realise that Noir can be set anywhere and can be even more effective in bright sunny more seeming happy locations then in the steryotypical ones. It really helps sell the seediness and corruption by taking it out of it's comfort zone. _________________

It was a generic statement based on opinions/complaints I've read, not actually my personal feeling. I did a poor job of differentiating that it seems.
As far as the new setting goes, it definitely deviates from what we're used to in Max Payne games. I think it's understandable that people would have concerns over this decision, after all changes in an established series/sound/genre etc always seems to divide opinion.
I do however really like the setting of Brazil, in particular the favela slums. I'd like to see more games, particularly action/FPS games use different locations. I'm pretty bored of running and gunning in the usual places.
It looks like a prime setting for intense gunfights and ambushes to take place in. I'm really looking forward to the idea of fighting my way through a hostile environment where I could be attacked from any corner, rooftop or window. Aside from cover and environments being destructable, enemies can be hiding anywhere ready to shoot or ambush you in any of the surrounding houses. I like the idea of having the odds stacked against you, requiring you to fight for your survival.
The 'Takedown' mission in CoD: MW2 where you chased a target through the favelas was pretty intense. You had very little breathing room and were consistently getting attacked from enemies hiding all over the place.
I can't actually think of any other games that take place in this setting, dumping you into a similar situation.

Is the fat bald fat Max Pain? I don't understand, some of those shots above have the *real* Max.
I instantly hate this game because of the main character difference. I don't like that new character/skin at all. _________________ Shin J Leon.

The new official promo for it. Without giving much away, his head isn't shaved right from the get go.
'Max shaves his head at a point where he feels like circumstances are slipping out of his control and that drastic action is required. '

I can't take credit for this idea, but if you look close enough, I've credited the person who thought it up.
Max may shave his head at some point but it looks like the game takes a another major turn ... for the better? _________________

you have a warped definition of what 'fat' is.
He looks like someone with a body built to be practical for actually doing stuff rather then for show and looking strong. _________________

No bubblegum, just a free haircut.
He looks like a bikie with his head shaved. Poor Leon.

Delayed until 18 May, June 1 for PC users.
Works for me, there are already quite a few games coming out in the next two months that will eat up most of my spare time. _________________

Just watched the latest trailer for this, it looks pretty awesome. I'm definitely gonna have to play the first two that I bought not long ago, which I assume are still worth playing?
