I just finished reading an article in Retro Gamer on the history of Killer Instinct and it reminded me how getting a new Killer Instinct is very likely my biggest wish in gaming.Hell even just remaking the first one with current/next gen graphics would make me EXTREMELY happy.
Now I've never owned a Microsoft console and though there have been numerous times I have considered getting a 360, I'm still only extremely slightly interested in ever buying a Microsoft console. But were a new Killer Instinct to be made I wouldn't for a second hesitate to buy a Microsoft console.
Back when I disliked fighting games I actually loved killer Instinct and until Tekken 3, it was the only fighting series I actually liked. _________________ Welcome to the internet. Where any joke can turn into WWIII.

No thread intro? Oh well.
Mother fucking Settlers: Heritage of Kings was the biggest disappointment for me. The old Settlers was ultra-complex with over 30 resources and you had to manage every bit of your economy in order to expand.
For example, to build a swordsman, you needed: a coal mine; an iron mine; miners; people to transport the coal and iron ore to the smelter's; a smelter; a blacksmith; people to transport the iron bar and even more coal to the blacksmith's; a barracks; someone to take the sword from the blacksmith to the barracks and finally a person that will train with the sword and become a swordsman.
Alterntively you could have the coal supplied by having a logger cut down down trees, having someone carry the logs to the sawmill, have the sawmill cut them into planks, then have these planks taken to the charcoal-maker's.
(And I believe you had to supply meat and/or gold to the workers or they would shut down. That was also a long process.)
I played enough of Heritage of Kings to realise that there were four resources that magically teleported to whatever building needed them and the series had devolved into an AoE rip-off. I cried (I was a kid) and then immediately returned the game. Never again. _________________

Dragon Age 2 was soul crushing for me. The first Bioware game I actively despised. It also makes me wonder about other Bioware franchises it was that bad.

DA2 wasn't that bad... in fact, I'd go as far to say it was decent.
I've always wanted a deep and feature-rich cricket game. Hopefully as India becomes increasingly rich there's a chance of this happening, but I'm not holding my breath.
A good AFL game is a pipe dream.

Biggest wish - Level 5 or Atlus or someone buying the rights for the Shadow Hearts franchise, get all the personnel back from feelplus and other companies, then release a fourth game in the series. I miss the SH humour (something most JRPGs lack) and the judgement ring :'(
Biggest disappointment - Square Enix's current business model. A FF game used to be an event of the upmost quality, now there are so many mediocre sequels and spinoffs it's tarnished the legacy for me... _________________

Bioshock, it was originally the only reason I wanted a 360. I just love the setting the story and the mashup of fps and some rpg elements. My wish is coming true as Infinite will be released next year and im sure it will exceed my expectations just as the original did. _________________

Disappointment - Eight days being cancelled.
It looked like it'd be quite excellent from the E3 06 (I think it was?) trailer. _________________

It was terrible compared to the original Dragon Age, though.
Not to mention they completely forgot to give the game an ending.
What I want is a Bethesda-style RPG set in a dystopian cyberpunk future. Basically Skyrim meets Neuromancer. It will be the best game ever. _________________ Twitter | XBL: Tamaaya | PSN: stormo | GameCentre/Steam: StorminNorman

Disappointment: Earthbound 64 cancelled. (I'm very much aware of Mother 3, but I really wanted *that* game)
Wish: Pokemon MMO.
EDIT: Also Wish: Localisation of the second Chocobo Tales DS game. The first one was one of my all time favourite DS games.

Disappointment - Spore
I don't think I've ever been as excited about a game as I was about Spore. Years before its release I watched Will Wright's full presentation at E3 (or was it GDC?), which went through the procedural generation mechanic and the apparently limitless scope of the world.
Then it came out several years later and, while it was an enjoyable game, it could never really live up to my expectations. It was just spread too thinly across the multiple genres it traversed. _________________ My Photos

Disappointments:
Xenogears being incomplete due to budget problems. The second disk rushed through the plot, cutting off exploration and the player was told what happened in certain areas/dungeons as opposed to being able to play them for yourself. Fans are divided on the issue, some say it ruined the game for them but not for me personally.
MGS: The Twin Snakes. Silicon Knights didn't bother scaling up the difficulty to balance out the MGS2 gameplay features implemented into the world of MGS1. It was ridiculous at times how easy/broken the game was. Plus it annoys me to google 'Silicon Knights' and read their claim of being developers of the Metal Gear Solid series and not just this game.
Wishes:
0.1% chance of it happening but I'd like to see a fully realised remake of Xenogears.
I want a *better* remake of MGS1, now would have been a great time to package it with the MGS HD Collection. I just don't think people who start off with MGS2 are going to appreciate the games as much as they would had they started with MGS1. Remakes of Metal Gear 1 and 2 would also be great seeing as the MGS games retconned them into oblivion.
FF games to regain the magic they once had. I'll still keep buying and playing the games, I manage to enjoy them despite the heaping amount of hatred shown towards the games nowadays.
Finally, I just hope that JRPGs keep getting localised. It'll be a sad day when games like 'Tales of' are no longer released here but we'll still get **** like this. Well, perhaps with the exception of Sukeban Shachou Rena. _________________

Disappointments
I am not a fan of the style of gameplay pokemon black and white is presenting me with. This might sound retarded but I didn't want fresh gameplay, just more of the same. There trying too hard to be different and everything is coming off as just plain weirdness. The motifs of the enemies are just retarded. Anyway SoulSilver/HeartGold are ****ing brilliant games so atleast I have a pokemon game I like.
Also disappointed that Nintendo seem to have abandoned the 2D portable Zelda games. They were usually much harder and much more fun than the 3D games.
Wishes
My wishes are for another Croc: Legend of the Gobbos game to be made. Make it like the first one with the simple platforming and exploring elements. Even as an arcade game/remake that will be epic for me.
I also had a wish for them to complete the supposed quintology that oddworld was supposed to be, but I think that wish is becoming a reality soon (Thankyou cyber-jesus)

Guild Wars 2
It's been almost 7 years since the original Guild Wars was released. I don't know about anyone else but to me that's a long time between drinks and if my memory serves me correct GW2 has been in development not long after the original came out. Even today there's no release date and only a dim hope of a beta mid 2012.
Games that have been in development for close to a decade generally don't turn out to well either with changing staff all the time. I can only hope this doesn't happen to Guild Wars 2.

Biggest disappointment =
Garou Mark of the Wolves 2 cancelled (during the SNK takeover) despite being mostly complete.
Wish =
That SNKP finishes the code and releases for AES and MVS (plus XBL PSN etc).
I would (without any exaggeration) happily put $1000 towards the project if it would make a difference. Humph....

Disappointment: Halo 2, going through the E3 and gameplay trailers before hand, was extremely hyped up... and we got something that didn't quite add to that excitement. I'm probably being harsh, but it's basically what's started me on a media blackout of games in terms of excessive gameplay footage.

Disappointment: Metal Gear Solid 4, and to a certain degree BioShock.

The most dissapointing games i ever play was Devil May Cry 2
After playing the original to death, DMC2 was an agonising experience.
I recently played Golden Sun: Dark Dawn which tarnished another series that i adored.
My wish is that Sly 4 turns out to be a good game.

Haha oh fuck I'd completly forgotten that.
Jesus christ that game sucked and made no fucking sense
I remember getting up to a point where you're fighting a mutant helicopter and it took for fucking ever, just hiding behind some cover then laying into it with your pistols. And it took 20 fucking minutes.
And at that point I'm just like "Nope. Fuck this" and turned it off. _________________

The biggest one for me was grand theft auto 4....i found that game to be a polished turd basically.
other memorable ones for me were dragon age 2, fifa after 10, cricket games without online co op, sport games in general with no online co op and furthermore no co op league or anything like that and finally the X series being canned from consoles. _________________ kill, kill, kill.....the white man. Yeah GTA IV really did divide the fanbase pretty harshly. I'm still not sure how I feel about it. I love playing the multiplayer with mikezilla and sometimes love just sitting around in the game when it's raining or actually driving properly and exploring stuff.
On the other hand though sometimes the game feels so lifeless. Can't explain it anymore than that :/

I ruined pokemon diamond/pearl and LittleBigPlanet by excessively watching trailers and the releases of all the new pokemon coming out. I'm glad I didn't have an xbox around the time of Halo 2 because I love that game now. Some of the final levels taking the brute chieftain out as the arbiter, hopping in a banshee...I really liked it

Biggest Wish: Nintendo Wii U has a great standard controller, loses focus on the motion control and does 1080p @ 60FPS and comes with a new NINTENDO IP.
Dissapointments: Nintendo design choices (hardware)
My biggest complaint would be the addition of motion controls. Especially Nintendos focus (for a while there) on the controller over the console. Looking back at the Wii lineup I would say every single game I liked would have played better with a controller.
Mario Galaxy
Zelda
Metroid
New Super Mario
Xenoblade (which did)
Goldeneye (which did, thank god)
Kirby
DK
I would have been happy as larry to play all of these, and Skyward Sword, on a classic controller Pro. I also wish Nintendo went HD, I know they did great with the Wii and it sold very well and all but the transition from Gamecube to Wii has been less than stellar for me, the games are still there and still the best there is IMHO, but the focus on the new controller needs to die, or be there for casual games. I hope the Wii U can use too Wii U tablets and classic controller PRO for 4 x player gameplay.
I also really hate the tiny size of the DPAD on the DS, ESPECIALLY the DSiXL (Which should have increased the size of the thing) it has rendered most of my 50+ game collection unplayable due to my hands size.
The 3DS is also too small for me, a personal complaint, but one I think is not out of bounds for NIntendo to adress in the XL iterations of their handhelds.
BIGGEST SURPRISE:
Dark Souls / Demons Souls: Bringing back GAMING to the action/adventure/rpg genre. Challenge, reward, implied story. None of the bull**** cutscenes, lengthy talky stories that suck in 95% of games, no handholding good old fashion EXPLORATION/GAMEPLAY/ADVENTURE/REWARD. And for innovating, with the online, to something new and fresh and refreshing. KUDOS FROM SOFTWARE! _________________

Pluses for this. It is almost the perfect showcase of the DS.

i was so hyped. Civilization meets sins of the solar empire meets the sims meets black and white. it was to be the only game we would ever need. Instead we got dumbed down mini-genre casualed levels. So dissapointed.
My wish: Impossible mission HD - Take the no guns, robot avoiding, furniture searching fun and put in in a #d engine. The ultimate spy game. Will never happen though. 3d puzzle/platformers without guns don't sell........ _________________

Better without waggle? Perhaps, though I really don't see what the problem everyone has with shaking their wrist a little over pushing a button , as long as it is responsive enough (yes I am aware in some cases it isn't, though most of Nintendo's efforts were fine in this regard). Still, I'll give to you that you may have at least a reasonable point there.
...But better without the pointer? Get the fuck out of here. The pointer is the best innovation in gaming since the control stick. Shooting / Flinging star bits in Metroid / Goldeneye / Galaxy feels incredibly natural and works a million times better than it would using a 'regular' controller.
