It's likely a quest item based around something you need to discover. Thankfully quest items don't actually put more weight on your load, even if they do have weight properties. _________________

anyone know if there's a way to change the orientation of items when you're "holding" them with the e key? I'm finding it difficult to decorate my house. _________________ My Photos

To extend this question, does anyone know if console gamers (Xbox 360 and PS3) of Skyrim can pick up and hold and move items? _________________

Yes, for Xbox hold A while looking at the object.

Skyrim is the game Oblivion tried desperately to be. Plain and simple.
Just get it LeonJ _________________

Skyrim is masterful. It topples Morrowind as far as I'm concerned and is brilliant in its own right.
Oblivion was a turdbeast. This is a glorious, golden child. _________________

I'm still waiting for my OzGameshop copy but I was wondering.. should I also fork out some cash to get an XBox 360 controller for this game "on PC"? One of the big beefs I am seeing "haters" of the game going on about if the controls and UI being a clumsy port.. _________________

Just use the keyboard to navigate most of the menus rather than the mouse and you'll be fine. _________________

There's plenty of programs out there that'll let you use your PS3 controller.
But I'm with Pixie, going through the menu with the keyboard (wasd) is fine for me.

The UI is no worse than a lot of other PC RPGs I've seen. Sure it takes a little getting used to (make sure you "favourite" commonly-used items so they can be quickly accessed with the 'q' key), but I'm in no way tempted to switch to my 360 controller. The extra freedom of movement with the mouse is useful when aiming spells or in close combat. _________________ My Photos

Ok thanks.. I think there will be haters no matter what but that was the one thing both the negative and mixed reviews were saying on Metacritic. _________________

UI failure; hovering the mouse over something, selecting it but then realising the GUI doesn't mouse-over highlight items...

Mate, check out the MotionJoy software, it'll let you use your ps3 controller on the PC. It's my choice for playing Skyrim, can't stand the keyboard. _________________

Got the letter from the Dark Brotherhood. It was awesome, gave me chills. Looking forward to that advancing, I guess I just have to wait to be contacted by them.

Improvements over Oblivion:
- Dragons (each opening the way to a new ability), instead of oblivion gates.
- Noticeably better graphics - improved npc's, weather and lighting etc. More detailed and realistic looking environments - Skyrim has less of a randomly-generated feel.
- 3rd-person view no longer shows your character sliding around like they're on ice.
- Dual-wield a combination of single-handed weapons, shields or spells. It's fun to mix it up depending on the situation.
- Enemy level is mostly determined by the area in which you encounter the enemies. Certain areas and enemies are impossibly difficult for low-leveled characters. Wait 'til you come across your first bear...
- Perks make leveling up a lot more interesting.
- Armour/weapon smithing, which goes waaay beyond the simplistic 'use the hammer to repair your item' of Oblivion. With the right materials, you can forge weapons and armor. As your proficiency rises, you can upgrade your favourite stuff. Bethesda have decided to do away with gear degrading with use, so you no longer need to repair anything or worry about stuff breaking.
- Going by imdb, the voice actor roster has more than tripled since Oblivion.
Other comparisons:
- The map is now kind of like a 3d, isometric view, instead of the paper style map from Oblivion.
- Horse riding is just as useless as it was in oblivion, except now you're stuck with 3rd-person view while mounted (on console anyway).
- No pants in Skyrim. The pants have been combined with tops/armor.
There's no doubt a heap of other subtle and not so subtle changes. And Skyrim really does have a nice Morrowind feel. I attribute that mostly to the enemy leveling and the music by Jeremy Soule, which seems to be a return to the style used in Morrowind. There might even be a few tunes from Morrowind in there, a lot of it sounds very familiar to me.

Nine people instead of three people isn't really a huge jump, though.

The map actually bugs me a bit, as it doesn't give enough information about roads and paths through Skyrim. There's even bridges that it fails to show.
It's pretty to look at, but it could do with another zoom level or two to get some of the information I want from it across.
One thing that bugs me a little is that the enchanting interface gives no indication of whether or not an item is equipped. I accidentally disenchanted a robe I was wearing last night because of this. _________________ Twitter | XBL: Tamaaya | PSN: stormo | GameCentre/Steam: StorminNorman

You do realise the number 1 complaint about Skyrim is how horrible its menu system is, right?
Oblivion's menus weren't great, although there were mods (ie Beidermod) that made them a lot more usable. _________________ Twitter | XBL: Tamaaya | PSN: stormo | GameCentre/Steam: StorminNorman
