It's a bit further in to Anor Londo. Those big giants you've found so far are comparative sissies to the spell casting ones just before the boss fog.

The KKK guys also block the way to the Painted World of Ariamis. Look at the painting if you have the Peculiar Doll for soul farming justice.

Yeah I've got the doll, not come across a painting yet though. Been trying to clear the church first, but I keep pulling about 4 of the guys at once which ends badly...

Keep your shield up, let them get in close, they'll try to swipe twice, then let them have it.

And if that doesn't work, it's not terribly hard to alert one of them at a time.

Making my way through NG+; just need to clear the Catacombs and Demon Ruins. Then, with all the embers, I'll make the weapons I need for trophies and replay NG++ for the final weapons. The first game I've platinumed. Mind you, I think I'm burned out for the time being icon_smile.gif

Had some great PvP invasions though (people invading me), so I wouldn't mind keeping that up after the patches.

I know, I was just being impatient this morning. I played that bit in a half an hour spare before work icon_wink.gif

Pinwheel down in NG+, unbelievably easy. Actually, all the bosses have been a walk in the park apart from those damn 4 Kings.

Hmm... I think I agree with you OropherX. I don't know why, Dark Soul's bosses are imaginative but yeh, not as stand out as those from Demons Souls. Btw, I hated that damn Dragon God. Perhaps it is because I found the bosses in Dark Souls to be more a task of dps than strategy.

I was thinking about that the other day too. None of the bosses in Dark Souls really wowed me or were as imaginative as Demon's Souls. There were too many dragon-like bosses in Dark Souls I reckon and having to cut the tail off all the time made them sort of similar. I like boss battles like Maiden Astraea or False King Allant draining your soul level.

I also found it frustrating that a stealth backstabby type character had no place against bosses in Dark Souls icon_sad.gif It is quite a shame really.

Dark Souls is excessively biased towards shields. If you PVP, you'll notice that no one dual wields, no one bothers with pure backstab builds or parry builds with Small Shields.

Unlike Demon's Souls where the roll was enough to get you through the game as a defensive measure, Dark Souls is more about tanking the damage that enemies throw at you.

I think one of the problems is that several bosses felt like repeat fights of bosses in Demon's Souls. The first time around it's great because it's unique. The second time around though (Dark Souls) it's a case of 'been there done that'. For example - Pinwheel felt like a really dumbed down version of Fool's Idol, Belfry Gargoyles reminded me of the Maneater fight... heck Bed of Chaos reminded me of Dragon God to the extent you don't fight it directly. I'm wondering though, imagine playing Dark Souls first then going backwards and trying out Demon's Souls... you'd be in for quite a treat when you played through the Demon Souls bosses (especially Old Monk). Hopefully if From Software release another game boss fights will be as unique as they were in Demon's Souls.

Having said that though that's not to say Dark Souls was a disappointing game for me though. Far from it - I really enjoyed some of the boss fights (Ornstein & Smough and Priscilla) and I thought the mechanics of the game were done quite well. I also really enjoyed the open ended aspects of this game and how you would just wonder around, only to find out you've discovered a new location.

I'm almost nearing the end of my journey now with this game, as I head towards the final boss. I might give NG+ a shot in the future when I defeat this boss but with other games on the backlog I might wait until I complete some of the other games.

I think the problem is that all the bosses are all pattern based and not as intense as large groups of enemies, and that bosses are an obsolete mechanic that can be improved on.

I found the Demon's Souls bosses to be quite weak too and suffering from the same problem. Hell, the Dragon God was little more than "press these two switches to win" and Astraea was "talk to win" after you walked up to Garl on the cliff and noticed he'd only walk towards you so far before stopping.

I want a proper challenge, not another pattern based enemy that can be defeated by standing back and watching for a minute or two.

To the Black phantom "murderous nerd" you were lucky as I was pushed out of the bonfire while I was rearranging my spells and equipment.
I got you down to half and I got jambed up against some spikes and others enemies. The back stab was my undoing!! (I was so unprepared).

You have been indicted!!

Is the co-op and PvP in this game up to scratch? Interested in buying it alongside a good mate who wants to use the multiplayer to its full potential.

PLATINUM!!!!!!! Now I can give it a break icon_smile.gif

--Update--
First Platinum ever for me as well. I would've had it for Demons Souls but I went through x3 different PS3s playing that so was never able (due to sheer replaying willpower) to get Plat on my current PS3.

It's a little unreliable but generally it works well. Oropher and I can generally summon each other pretty quickly but sometimes it refuses to work and we never see our signs.

I heard it's because of the randomness of servers and such?

Yeah there's a lobby type system I think. So you need to hope you get placed in the same lobby as your friend. Sometimes it works instantly, other times it's taken us 30 minutes just to get a game (spamming the summon sign over and over). But it seems to work more often than not.

@grim: Yeah, levels do matters still I'm pretty sure. It also helps being in certain/same Covenants.

Gain another 25 levels or so Grim! I wanna play some co-op as well.
