Thankyou
I picked this up today (as seen in the newest purchases) and It's pretty good. The reviews from other forum members are spot on it's a nice casual-ish game, everyone should have a go. If only I could pick up a few more characters. _________________

So - have built my darkness dispeller and seem to be on the way to the final boss fight.
Further comments (ps3 version):
Get recharagble batteries, the portal chews through them (ps3)
Its not polished. I'm wathcing my son play Jak & Daxter on the ps2 as I finish spyro and apart from screen resolution the animations (especially lip syncing) just don't compare
Where is my JUMP abiltiy!!!!!
The shooter sections controls are too sluggish in repsonse to be any fun.... and who-ever mapped the reticle to the right stick whilst requiring button input should be taken to task.
Objectivly this game is a 6 or so, and considering I can buy a console for about the same price as collecting everything, not good value. BUT kudos to activison. Kids are going to love it and its solid enough for adults to play with as well.
Regarding the poll - this isn't spyro. Accepting it for what it is though proves to be entertaing.
Hmm that all seems negative. Pros? Each character is unique enough to distingish themselves and its harder to choose a favourite as a result (although I can split them into two groups of favourite/can do without) and its addictive. I can totally see myself comeing back to 100% each level.
I'll leave final comment till later. At this stage i'd suggest getting the the big w & target exclusives and ONE of each element you need to complete the 8 of them, Then wait for sales to pick up the rest.
Side note: can anyone tell me if the wii version used pointer control for the shooting sections as it feels like the thay have been designed for that rather then controller input. (would have liked to have seen move implementation for them if it is the case) _________________

Wow - the boss final fight - talk about a difficulty hike. Basically its a (for me) 45 minute horde mode. I don't claim to be a skilled gamer so others might do it easier but it took all of my figures to pass it (and two attempts)......... the music is odd in the final scenes too, abruptly changing like something was cut? Still - story mode done (ps3) - collection hunt can wait.. time to get stuck into the 3ds version.... _________________

For those playng at home on the web http://universe.skylanders.com/play - be advised that the 3ds portal is wired (mini usb) and maintains the portals connections much better (the ps3 one works with a usb dongle) _________________

NEW waves:
The second wave of characters for Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure is about to appear. Wrecking Ball, Dino-Rang, and Hex are the new Skylanders being introduced this time around. They're released next week on Tuesday November 15th (NA) and Friday the 18th of November (EU), you should also be able to find the Adventure Pack "Darklight Crypt" in more places.
As well as the individual packs you'll also be able to find them in two new triple character packs.
One containing: Stealth Elf, Wrecking Ball, and Sonic Boom
The other: Hex, Zap, and Dino-Rang

As suggested, I've started the 3ds vesrion (completed the "life" world). This comment pretty much sums things up so far:
An overworld opens up to reveal five worlds, each containing five levels, with five crystals available per level . The crystals function like stars in 3D Mario games, unlocking more worlds as you collect them. The levels generally alternate between two different types: linear levels with multiple objectives that you can attempt to complete all at once, or arena-based levels where you have to fend off enemies and collect items. The one thing that every level has in common is the menace of Hektore, a demon-looking fellow who will chase after you once a certain amount of the level is completed or you collect a crystal. Basically, each level begins as a pleasant stroll, and then ends as a pressure-inducing race to the finish. It works well to keep up the tempo of the game. http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/review/28064
Additional things of note is that it stores 2 characters at a time, loaded from the portal. The only time you use the portal is for this loading process. Bonus crytals are provided if you load the element of the day (which obviously changes daily)
Mario is set to claim the best platformer on the system crown, but I actually enjoy this version more than the console version, soit makes for a pretty solid runner up.... _________________

My Skylanders is at the postoffice but I can't pick up until tomorrow. I also bought one triple back Zap/Hex/Dino-Rang. Wanting to get every figurine but it seems like it might be difficult! :0 _________________

The Wall Street Journal!?! has the first details of the newly announced sequel; Skylanders Giants. Set to be released this Autumn the game will add eight new toys that are said to be more than twice the size of the original characters as well as eight more normal sized Skylanders.
Activision will debut the new game at the International Toy Fair that runs February 12th-15th, just like they did with Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure last year. http://www.darkspyro.net/
Personally, given that they can't keep current waves in stock (although plenty are on ebay @ inflated prices - hmmmmm) - I'm going to be passing I think...... _________________

Wave 3 was sigthed at GAME parramatta today. (Cynder / Ice exp 3 pack / Dble Trouble)
If you can wait (and take the risk) Cynder will also appear in a 3 pack sometime around Easter.
Still these things sell out pretty quickly at the moment.
(There are rumors that a change in production will see figures supplied more regularly from March) _________________
