The reviewers are certainly going ga-ga over it.
The eurogamer (surprisingly) and Jostiq reviews are my two favourites so far, albeit I haven't had any hands on time myself.
Seems that the world and its inhabitants are just that whole lot more believable and captivating (and the combat satisfying) while Oblivion continually and jarringly suspended your belief every time you saw its ghastly pop-in, or a common bandit garbed in elven armour, or when the people you were talking had faces so shiny they were like something out of Twilight.
...though apparently NPCs will still treat with you while they're sleeping, which is a shame _________________

i heard they were having problems with the chickens ai, apparently they could report you for stealing.

For those playing on PC, you can change your field of view by hitting ~ and typing in FOV 90 or whatever else you prefer. I found it pretty disorientating at the default value. Hope this helps others. _________________
Not too happy with framerates though, should be getting much higher but AMD are apparently onto that with a crossfire optimisation coming in very soon. Also sadly, I can't play it in eyefinity yet as the Inventory and general User Interface gets zoomed in like a UE3 game, and makes it near impossible to navigate. WSGF are onto a fix though.
That being said, impressions are pretty decent so far. Not wow'd much yet but hopefully in the next few hours it'll kick in. Certainly a lot better than Oblivion though.
EDIT: Also PC users, couple of tweaks here for extra visual stuff. yarrr. I'm adding them in now for more visual oomph.
Double Edit: OH GOD. Just did some internal tweaks to profiles in RadeonPro. MASSIVE performance gain. Yeeeeee this is more like it. _________________
I brought this for my buddy's bday on 360, but that's in 2 weeks.
so I decided to open it, play it until then, give it to him and then get it on PC and play it again the way it's intended!!! (on ultra)
he is okay with it and lol'd.

I got an early mission in the game to join the companions. The mission was "Go teach this market person a leson, but don't kill em"
I go expecting to find some shady dude doing the dodgy in town. I find my quest. And it's this widow woman who's being constantly harassed by a lecherous bard. So I go teach the bard a lesson and beat the shit out of him in the bar, then I go back to her and realise that wasn't my quest.
I have to beat up a widow.

I'm playing as a Nord Bowman. I always wanted to play with a bow in Oblivion but it was crappy. It seems they've got it right this time. Btw, I didn't even realise you could make a choice between the two guys at the start of the game, I just followed the Imperial and hoped I didn't get eaten, lol. _________________
