Finished. Wrote a big ass long winded review in the other thread, but the long and short of it is though I enjoyed it, I'd probably rate it as the weakest of the three. Naughty Dog implemented a lot of changes and additions, like a bigger focus on puzzles and exploring, that I really appreciated, but I thought nearly all the combat encounters played much worse than those in Uncharted 2. They seemed weakly designed for stealth, and had some weird enemy spawns that reminded me of the kill rooms from Uncharted, with guys just flooding in boringly. I thought the game as a whole was worse paced and less interesting than Uncharted 2, but the villain was much better. I also missed the colourful banter and one liners, as the focus on Drake's personality and emotions made for a pretty drab game atmosphere.
Still enjoyed it though, if very typical Uncharted fun, but kind of felt like Naughty Dog ran out of steam I guess. _________________

Ok, so my thoughts on the game, having completed on hard and given the competitive Multiplayer a bit of a shake.
Honestly, it feels a lot like Uncharted 2, perhaps with a little extra graphical polish. I don't think they really changed much at all. The story is, in my opinion, pretty weak, It just felt like it was a rehash of the story from Uncharted 2. Seriously, the story is almost identical,
| Endgame spoilers wrote: | | even down to the fact that the final moments of the game have you trying to escape a lost city that's falling apart. Not only that, how is it that Drake and Elena keep breaking up between games, only to get back together in the next game? When you have a game that's almost just a 10 hour movie anyway, making the story so damn similar to the previous edition really seems like a lazy effort. I also would have liked the plane bit to have been longer, but can appreciate the fact that a cargo plane can only be so big. |
That being said, it's still an excellent single player experience. I guess it's hard to improve upon something as near to perfect as Uncharted 2.
The other part is about the competitive Multiplayer. It's really good! I played it for a good couple of hours, and Deathmatches can be pretty intense, Capture the Idol mode is pretty interesting. I mean, sure, it's just Capture the Flag, but making the Idol heavy so that when you carry it you're slow, and so that to throw it across the map actually means you can transport it faster... well, I can see some high level, well drilled teams having some really intense matches if it catches on.
The other mode I tried was a team based, objective-driven game. I thought this was the most interesting of the three modes I played. You basically get an objective that your team has to work together to achieve. It might be hanging on to an Idol, or defending your VIP while attempting to kill the other teams VIP. The variety of this mode was just a lot of fun.
So yeah, it's a fantastic game, but I just wish it did something a bit different. If an Uncharted 4 follows with the exact same formula again, I will be disappointed.

I really enjoy the Buddy System mode. I had a great time playing it yesterday, it was nice to be able to work well with my buddy and feel as though it was us against the world. I also managed to score an awesome double kill. The two members of one of the other buddy teams were crouched behind some cover, I snuck up behind them and threw a grenade between them, boom! Sweet double kill. _________________

I also put some time in this on hard. Its a great single player game it just hasn't cracked the barrier for the this year that other titles (dark souls/xenoblade/portal 2) have. Its not in running for GOTY for me, as it stands though its a quality piece of entertainment. More like an interactive movie than ever before, which is a good thing and a bad thing. Still, great, not mindblowing. _________________

Played a few games online last night and really enjoyed it, it's just nice and simple fun. Have to say I had more fun playing this than I have on BF3. _________________

I don't know if PAL copies of Uncharted 3 got the Starhawk BETA code included but if they did and anybody doesn't want their code, please let me know. _________________

It must be a US only thing... again.
I would of done my usual news post about it but I was lazy, anyway here it is:
| PS Blog wrote: | UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception Goes Gold, Includes Starhawk Beta
Nearly one year ago Entertainment Weekly broke the news that UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception was real and coming out in 2011. Today we have finally reached the point of breaking through that finish line tape in another marathon of game development. We’re proud to announce that the third installment in the UNCHARTED franchise has gone gold, and is on its way to being manufactured for its November 1st release. We can’t wait to see everyone’s reaction to the next chapter of Nathan Drake’s adventures as it hits store shelves and homes everywhere in just three short weeks!
And as an added bonus, all retail copies of Uncharted 3 will include a voucher code for early access to the upcoming Starhawk Public Beta, which will be coming in early 2012. Just like Uncharted 3, Starhawk promises to provide an incredible multiplayer experience that only PS3 can deliver. Here’s a glimpse of what the voucher insert looks like, and you can keep tabs on StarhawkTheGame.com for more details.
We also wanted to tell you about another very cool bonus that our tireless dev team helped produce. We’ll have four behind-the-scenes videos detailing the development and production of UNCHARTED 3 for free and available on the retail UNCHARTED 3 disc! Those of you attending our AMC Theatre events will be in for a special treat as we’ll have a teaser of some of that behind-the-scenes video content. |

Just played 5 games of team deathmatch...
Went 21/7, 22/6, 22/7, 28/10 and 24/7... I will admit I played against a few newer players, but it's still a good run.
Anyway Hunter/THEMAN I'll be online again in about an hour. _________________

might buy a T1 headset from blueant but its $80 or I order one from the UK for $35 and wait 2 weeks. Anyhow; asked my mate who never uses his ps3 to lend me his in the meantime.
:/
all this for the only online games I seem to play. But I guess the kit+tech should carry over to ps4. _________________

Since the PS3 headset can also be used as a standard bluetooth headset for mobile phones etc. You might find other uses for it. _________________
