It was a matter of the server that the channel was hosted on going away, not its occasional lurkers getting banned. I think you were the only one to receive that fate.
Life goes on with vent anyway |
I got banned too. Publically called ANDYBALLINA a dickhead the day before I signed up. Wondered who the hell BEES was. _________________

Ah, IRC.
truth be told, a lot of its activity depended upon a few very active social people (ie Tina, Joseph) the rest of us would then talk to, who have mostly left.
Was fun having Sin scared that there was some "irc crew" conspiring against him to control the forum and the universe,
particularly funny as we were just an unco lot of people chatting _________________

Ah, good old IRC. It certainly was a great haven for those wee hours in the morning where I was unemployed and spent most of the night typing up PALGN articles.
I haven't really gone back to IRC every since I became employed (blame the fact my sleeping patterns are "normal") but I can't deny the influence it's had on my life. I met my best friend through IRC, learnt to be myself, and I even met up with A13x a few times when he worked at a shopping centre near where I used to do volunteer work.
Oddly enough, I still have the mIRC application installed on my PC despite not visiting for nearly two years now.
A toast to IRC and all the lovely people I had the pleasure of chatting with over the years. _________________

Of course, what pony won't bring up is that I put a ban on her ISP when she was going mental at Jedi_Amara on the forums and brought that rubbish over to IRC. And, conveniently, it was also Jedi's ISP and they were the only two in IRC that used it so we didn't have to put up with that rubbish for weeks since the general opinion was that they were both acting like a pair of tards.
But hey. That's the spirit of IRC. It's a bit of a troll haven. For example: Espoch, it's time to let you in on the joke. I'm BEES. That was far too good to pass up, and we laughed for weeks about that one.
And then there was the consistent banning of ZeroX. I don't even have an issue with him, but someone else did. So I kept on banning him whenever he joined, but not just a simple ban. As an example, I asked him one day to tell me in one sentence why he shouldn't get banned. He provided two sentences. BAN.
The trick to IRC Club is to not take it seriously. Because it's not serious business. It's just a bunch of us having some fun.

Oh you've no idea how much trolling we actually did.
It wasn't just success, it was monumental levels of accomplishment. _________________

I went into #PALGNchat once.
I was all like "sup?" and then everyone was like [insert sound of crickets here] and then I left. Good times. _________________

I went into IRC once, 9 months later I bore triplets. Not one of those cowards have even come to visit the kids, either. I got myself a sweet plasma TV with the baby bonus money though, so it kind broke even. _________________

This explains babies. Raise them well, they're going to rock at Quake. _________________
