Lol I was expecting a harder battle too. I was chopping off it's HP like crazy, it had barely any defense.

I killed Havel and got his ring so now I'm wearing heavier armor without feeling encumbered. This game just got a hell of a lot easier.

Wait till you get into the Depths and Blighttown *insert evil laugh*.

Gosh those places were so nasty to me :/

I just killed the Gaping Dragon (second try).

Wielded the Drake Sword using both hands as using a shield was unnecessary and running was more effective, just kept hacking away at his tail, then his ass. Was more of a grind really, not too hard of a boss. fk ye

So I finally managed to pry myself away from my work and play a bit more. Absolutely annihilated the Fire Demonlord in 3 hits, yay for 2.3k Crystal Soulmass.

Fought my first Faith based Phantom in Dark Souls. I was a little taken aback that they now had several attacking miracles, as she was throwing lightning spears, not unlike Soul Spear. Needless to say, I still won with a chain Greater Combustion.

Do the levers in Anor Londo do anything? There are two of them in random places and they don't seem to be working at all.

You have to kill the npc at the top of the building after all the ghosts so that you acquire the key for the locked gate. Inside the gate is a lever which drains all the water in New Londo allowing you to access other areas and use those levers you previously couldn't.

I killed the Hydra last night, very easy if you know where to stand and attack from. I later climbed up the ladder near the water fall to and area where I was being attacked by 3 tree people and from nowhere some phantom (blue) struck me from the side and I died! I was so pissed off, I rushed back there but on the way back fell into the river died again. There goes 7 humanity and a couple of k of souls.

It's was after 1am, I was tired and I went to bed. Today I will return and seek my revenge!!

Q: Was I invaded by a phantom? I have heard of people invading your game without you being alerted to it? The light blue guy had a shield and sword.

Is the CE guide getting another print run? I bought it from Zavvi last week when it was supposed to be in stock but now the page saying the release date is Nov 14th (wat?)

Might cancel it and get it from Bookdepository then. I bought the Bayonetta CE guide from thehut last year and their packaging was less than satisfactory and I couldn't return it.

As I was running at the bottom area of Blighttown, saw a message saying 'Secret Passage' behind the chest, so I swung, and yeah. Came across a bonfire and a massive swirling maze of tree going down down down. As I exited came across Ash Lake, woo yeah. Saw the Hydra Dragon thing, just kept running, and then I saw this dragon thing, thought it was a boss but I joined its convenant and got this kickass dragonhead thing and a silver trophy.

As I was heading back the Hydra killed itself(?) and I got 10k souls and 2 dragon scales LOL.

Finally got my copy of Dark Souls from Zavii yesterday (26th October my birthday icon_razz.gif), it shipped on the 5th October apparently. Not sure who's fault it is.

Should I continue Demon Souls (about 1/4 of the way), play Dark Souls, or play both at the same time?

I am having too much fun in Demon Souls to stop...

Stick with Demons Souls. There will be nuances and different mechanics that will annoy you when switching from one to the other.

Finished Lost Izalith. What sadistic artist designed this hellhole. Frame rate drops, pump the red saturation up to 500 and add a glow effect? Probably the only zone from both Demons and Dark that I actually hate.

Managed to get through the archives and now I'm outside near Crystal Caves.

I haven't proceeded much further although I had a quick glance at what might be up ahead by dashing forward then dashing right back out. All I saw was a long drop down... (I only spent about half a minute looking around though) >_>

I've started up a new character, faith build.

In 3 hours, level 37 and just took gaping dragon down. Fun!

And lol yeah, Lost Izalith is a bitch. If you get 2 ranks in Chaos though you can get through it via a shortcut.

F U Sen's Fortress, putting large boulders in places you think won't have them anymore =( what's a good early weapon for a intelligence/dex build? Drake sword is pitiful damage and takes too many souls to upgrade.

I'm cruising through. Just took down Gaping Dragon, sitting around Level 34 and I just rolled (literally) into Blight Town. There's so many things I should hate about this game, but for some reason everything comes together nicely. O_o

Revenge was taken, I killed the blue phantom which had a large two handed sword also ran into a female fighter with a bow/sword shield blue phantom and one other assassin blue phantom. They were to much to handle together and I run off to the other side of the river and took on the cat like creatures and found the talking cat.

(Where is the closest bonfire??)

Picked up the stone armor set and killed the little mushrooms, mum and dad are to hard and pack a punch!! (Felt bad about killing the little ones after seeing the parents).

There is one bonfire in Darkroot Gardens and it's hidden behind a wall just before the Crest Door on the Parish side. If you entered via the Basin, go to where Sif is, run straight through the large forest and on the other side is the door (providing you bought the key from the blacksmith to open it. Alternatively kill him for it.)

I found the Iron Golem (Giant?) from Sen's Fortress to be the easiest boss. His attacks are so telegraphed you could probably just run out of range.

I had found a bonfire which leads to the drakes.(I can't remember how to find it again) I saved last night @ the smithy bonfire near the parish need to buy arrows and restock on thing before going that way again.

The bonfire in Darkroot Gardens doesn't need the crest, as it is right before it. When you reach the door with the crest, hit one of the walls to the left of the crest door. It should disappear to reveal the bonfire.

Got this when it was released and have been so addicted, its been my procrastination game while I've been putting off uni work icon_razz.gif. Having never played Dark Souls and not reading up anything about the Characters before I started I chose a Bandit and have been enjoying it thus far. I am level 37 at the moment and have been having trouble with Blighttown. I've been around a bit but feel that I need to level up a bit before heading into Blighttown, is there any easy area for farming some souls? Or even another area i should venture through before Blightown (Having also ventured through Darkwood)

Also at the moment im just using a Drake Sword/Shield combo, should I look into any magics?

He entered via the Basin, in which you can go directly to Sif and negate the need to spend 20k souls on the crest. But if he dies, the closest bonfire is the tunnel between Darkroot Basin and Valley of the Drakes. So he has to go all the way around to the Parish again, which he has, just so he can activate the bonfire in the Darkroot Garden.

Unless you're doing a dedicated build, all physical based characters should carry around a Pyromancy Flame, due to the fact that both the scrolls and damage are not related to INT. Get enough Attunement to however many slots you need, and slap on Great Fireball/Combustion and you have yourself a backup source of fire damage. Or use Iron Flesh to greatly boost your Def.

You can go one step further by investing a little into INT for the Sorcery supports such as Magic Weapon/Shield but it's usually overkill for PVE purposes. Fantastic for PVP though.

As for Blighttown, gear such as the Thief set or anything high in Poison resistance will suffice. In addition, if you plan on exploring the swamp at the bottom of the level, the Rusted Iron Ring from returning to the Asylum will serve you well. Other than that, buy the proper moss from the female merchant in the Berg.

My bad, I interpreted that incorrectly. I met Sif by using the crest. Didn't know there was another entrance - This game is full of unusual entrances. I'll have to check it out myself some time (if I can find it).

you can make the iron golem trip over rubble on the ground and fall to death, but the problem is getting there :/ I always mess up at least one one of those blade bridges.
