After witnessing the impressive generosity of the PALGN community when it came to getting Jahanzeb a PS3, I thought I'd see whether some people would get behind a good cause of my own.
The cause: I'm currently studying Professional Writing and Editing (PWE) this year at RMIT University in Melbourne. Every year (since 1989), the Uni has supported a student publication called Visible Ink. Each year, a commitee of PWE students volunteer to work on it to produce that year's edition. I'm part of this year's commitee. Each year the committee independently calls for submissions, selects entries, edits, typesets and proofreads the book, and manages its printing, publicity, launch, sales and distribution. We put out an Australia-wide call for submissions earlier this year, and received over 200 submissions!
Since submissions closed in July we have been carefully making our selection, contacting our authors and nerdily marking up manuscripts. Our style-checking queens have pored over every piece in our book while our design team beavers away at creative bits and bobs and our fundraising team works tirelessly to ensure we can make it all happen.
Where you come in: We're very close to publishing this year's edition, and an extra push would really help to make it happen. We currently have a project page on Pozible.com.au, which you can view here. If you could make a pledge towards our goal of $1000, no matter how small, it would really help us out! We're a non-profit publication which aims to showcase Australia's emerging writers and their work.
Thank you! _________________

While donating is noble and all, I'd be more interested in how to obtain the final product? _________________

I chose donate 30 bucks and you get a bunch of back issues. I think 50 bucks got you one of the first printings of the new issue.
Best of luck to you Ads. You know I can't refuse your big puppy dog eyes. _________________

I did that before you even owned a PS3.

A good point! We will be selling this year's edition online through our blog, which you can view here. They'll be on sale in early November.

I forgot to mention, we're currently selling previous editions of Visible Ink on the blog on the Buy It page. Most are available for just $5 (or 3 for $12), and we accept both Paypal and bank deposit. _________________

I thought I'd post a quick update. We just reached our goal of $1000 this morning, so thanks to everyone who made a pledge! This year's edition is going to be a cracker, and our launch is right on schedule for next week. We'll be selling the book online through our blog very soon. _________________

Oh, that game with a visual style that and shamelessly rips off Shadow of the Colossus. Saw my housemate playing it. Everything about it screamed average. Looks like you won't be stopping for a while, because that game isn't going anywhere near my 360 nor PS3.
Congrats on meeting your $1000 goal, admeister!

no I mean, Shadow of the collosus apart from the actual collosi had an incredibly generic looking fantasy world. There's nothing really distinctive about it other then that fucking god awful filter that kills all the contrast. _________________

How did I overlook this thread *facepalm*, congrats on reaching the goal Ads!. As an outgoing RMIT student, I'll definitely order a copy, plus some of the previous issues (For once not having a credit/debit card has backfired on me *profound sadness*). _________________
