Spacebreak - Why read a 3DS news article, or even click on it, to only derail it? I couldn't give a stuff about Football either, you know, but I don't feel the need to find places to post that on the internet.
You must either have a motive or be really bored? _________________

It's an internet forum. If people didn't bitch about things they weren't actually interested in half the posts would disappear. _________________

Totally necessary, and yet I kind of expect them to make it equally bad in a different way. Nintendo, why you hate UI useability so much? _________________

| Quote: | A major 3DS firmware update goes live on 4th November, according to a new report.
The announcement was apparently made at a Nintendo Europe event in Munich earlier today, Tweeted by an attending freelance journalist and then picked up by Nintendo World Report.
The update reportedly brings with it 3D video recording, a new StreetPass game and improvements to the eShop.
We're chasing Nintendo for confirmation right now, but it seems like a reasonable bet. The platform holder has scheduled a webcast for this Friday to discuss the update and other impending 3DS activity. |

I am just saying how disappointed I am with Nintendo's direction of gaming. I love Nintendo so of course I'm going to say something when they go in a direction I don't like. You'd think I'd be used to it by now after the Wii and Wii-u and all, but I'm not.
I don't like football either, but I never did, so there I have no reason to go into a football thread and talk about it.
But I wish Nintendo would go back to valuing the core experience of the games themselves, rather they are too focused on the way we play games, things that are truly unimportant. Only now are they seeming to get that people play games for the games, not for the way those games are played. So far I can say all the 3DS looks like is a DS that can do 3D...that people rarely even use. I am not surprised the 3DS is one of their most poorly performing handhelds during the launch period. I actually saw that coming ever since the thing was announced.
Edit: I mean to say, the main reason I'm annoyed is that I love Nintendo's IPs, yet I feel forced to buy technology I don't consider that great to play something I want. I actually wish Nintendo would fold and become a Sega.

Perusing new ways to interacting with computers and play games gave us a mouse to aim instead of keys, analogue sticks for greater directional precision (and a second one later down the track), tilt controls, motion recognition through cameras, and much more with even greater things to come.
I mean, you don't have to like it, but trying to downplay the importance of 'the way we play games' is really pretty silly. How we play games, and the tools and peripherals we use to play those games, define the barriers that limit gameplay and interactivity. If the be-all-end-all of gaming for all time was the modern twin stick controller I'd probably pack it in now and declare the medium creatively bankrupt. What a boring future we'd get.
On another note, and this might be the Nintendo fanboy in me talking, I cant really take claims that Nintendo doesn't value the 'core experience' of gaming seriously when they're producing gems like Super Mario Galaxy, which are based on nothing but the core experience of gaming.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go make out with my Peach plushy. _________________

I do understand that but I don't think any thing past the touch screen has added to the gameplay experience at all. Tilt functions are cool but only enjoyably useable in a little amount of games. Not only that but I think these objects have decreased the realism of games. I can't help but find myself slashing to emulate a sword on the wii...only to think that this isn't really like swinging a sword at all. Not only that, but in a 1:1 tracking game, you would feel rather limited by your own ability. However admitedly RE4 on the Wii is the definitive version, it's the one time I wish the 360 could utilise a wiimote.
I can't agree of disagree with you there but I find that additional gaming peripherals are decreasing the creativity in games this generation. I find the most creative games this round have been those of the small variety, PC indie games, XBLA games, and iPhone games. And we have so many peripherals now, I can almost laugh at the playground of toys available to the wii. This could just be what I find mostly in my local shops though so not sure if you feel the same.
Super Mario Galaxy games are gems, no doubt about it. (Still yet to play 2). I'm just saying that I don't want more hardware that pushes creative barriers. There's a point where this creativity gets in the way of functionality, and I noticed it with a lot of wii games...well the bad wii games anyway lol. I just couldn't see the wii the way Nintendo probably intended, I think I expected too much from the console. But it was kind of Nintendos fault, they overhyped it so much :<
And peach cushion, sure you don't mean peach body pillow

Actually Jarrod, the more I think about it the more I'm being overly unfair. I don't have a 3DS to judge any of these games/features first hand. I should probably at least try it before I diss it, maybe I'm overly jelly. Jelly that I sold my Wii and want to play Skyward Sword without buying a Wii again lol
I still love Nintendo but, I just think too hard about these things I guess, because I don't have infinite moneyz like I used to and have to way up taking risks with this kind of technology.
If theres one peripheral I did love to bits, its the drums/guitar for guitar hero. Those really made this generation so incredibly fun for me

I use my XL more than my 3DS really.
I do like the downloaded games on the 3DS but I wish they would release more quality stuff, not ancient sports titles... _________________ my video game collecting blog: http://keith.nallawalla.com/
