I moved to Melbourne recently from overseas, so understandably everything is a little confusing at the moment.
I was wondering what are the best online retailers here? For gaming, computer hardware, books, etc.
One thing I noticed is that games are more expensive in Australia, which saddened me a little So I've heard about Play-Asia before, and I see there is a coupon thread going on here so I assume they are pretty popular, seeing as I think their games are a lot cheaper than what I've seen around here thus far.
How good are they exactly? If I take cheapest shipping option how long does it usually take for delivery? Do a lot of gamers in Australia buy their games from Play-Asia?

Are they really more expensive? Thus far I've seen all new releases sell for like $80+, and on Play-Asia they go for less than $55. Or am I mistaken? Thanks for the other names, I'll check them out
I'm from South Africa, where we play bad cricket.
EDIT: Wow, ozgameshop seems to be priced way better than any other place I've looked at.

^ That does indeed seem pretty awesome Thanks for the link.
Are all those sites safe to buy from? This is going to be a weird question but how long does shipping usually take from US/UK/Asia to Aus?

I've never understood why Play-asia is so popular. Their shipping prices just kill everything for me... _________________

if you don't mind having digital copies only, you can go g2play.net
books you can visit http://www.bookdepository.co.uk
clothes you can hit up asos.com.au
laptops and camera gear you can hit up
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/
ozbargain.com.au also is a good place to source stuff that is on sale/promotion _________________

www.booko.com.au works like gamecafe for books.
You will tend to find bookdepository mentioned by Zhou to be cheapest in most cases coz of the free shipping.
gamecafe will list mostly PAL and US games. Play-Asia is still my source for Asian games. For JP games, amiami or stick to Play-Asia. _________________ 「貧乳はステータスだ!希少価値だ!」 - 泉 こなた

I've found www.amazon.co.uk is consistently cheaper if you order over 25 GBP (AU$40) worth to get their free shipping
For game imports, I recommend ozgameshop.com, thehut.com, and zavvi.com. Shipping for all is 2 weeks, give or take a bit. Also recently ordered from www.cdwow.com.au and shipping was fast from Hong Kong, not sure if they've fixed their preorder issues yet. _________________

I highly recommened ozgameshop.com, I've bought many games from them. They're often the cheapest, and their shipping only takes around a week to arrive (for me, at least). thehut.com and zavvi.com are also very good! _________________

Play-Asia have recently raised their game and shipping prices a small amount to compensate for the global economy, but they have excellent customer service and a massive range of products so I never mind paying a bit more. They have some pretty rare items on there too, such as my Japanese Limited Edition of Ico and SotC.
Also, I always use Fedex to ship my P-A games. Two day shipping from Hong Kong to Perth is awesome, the price is well worth it for me. It still worked out far cheaper than buying from Australian retailers. (I can't really do it now though since I have a fulltime job and can't be home to sign for my packages)
For example I bought LA Noire on release along with Mortal Kombat, it cost me $120 with two day shipping. If you buy 2 or 3 games together the shipping cost isn't really an issue.
They don't stock PAL region products though.
I do buy from other online retailers but I'm usually too impatient to wait and not know what day they will arrive.

Be wary about the free shipping, especially if your items are pre-orders or not in stock. It will push back your entire order by months if you're not careful. _________________

I've used it before and the pre-order simply shipped separately? Anyway, Amazon don't charge until they ship, so cancelling would be simple. _________________

Thanks for the help guys It's been a bit overwhelming going through all the Australian online stores, and even more so since US/UK retailers also become accessible now, compared to the three trusted online retailers available in SA.
What do you guys reckon are the best physical retailers for games?
And where would you recommend I look for buying electronics, monitors/headphones specifically?

If you're going with the book depository I'd recommend using http://www.bookdepository.com/ instead of http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/, or at least comparing the prices between the two. In my experience the .com site has been frequently cheaper, and I have bought a lot of books from these guys since I discovered their site.
