That's a gross assumption, isn't it? Is there a precedent for thinking that?
I asked the guy I spoke to specifically about why we were receiving an extra copy, and he said it was because they hadn't been provided the CE versions, and that they were embarassed at not having it ready to ship, so they were doing this to make amends. EB know people will just trade the extra copy back to them and they'll have their trade-in stock bolstered.
Granted, if you're right, I'll be in a blind stupor with rage. _________________

Because by handing over free copies of the game they will lose absurd amounts of money?
We all know EB and most other retailers don't make much money off new games, surely they'd go bust by doing this?
Say it costs EB $60 for the standard edition, they'll lose that much by giving it away to all CE holders, plus potentially another $40 lost through trading it back. That amount lost is close to what they'd pay for a CE alone. If it costs them $110 for the CE and they've charged you $160 for it, at the end of the day EB has bought a standard edition of Batman for $50 and they've given away a batman CE in the process. I just can't see how that can work out in their favour. Unless the developer is issuing free copies of the game to all EB stores to do this.
For your and everyone elses sake though, I hope you're right, it would be freaking awesome. But I just can't see EB not taking out the game from the CE, putting it in a replacement 360 case with slip cover and putting it back on the shelf, in replace of the standard edition copies they're currently handing out.

I recieved my Jokers Edition from EB today & was stoked to see the bonus "Batman - Under the Red Hood" was a stand alone Blu-Ray.
I presumed it would be just a disc inside the game case - Now to watch & add it to the dvd rack - GOOD TIMES.

I'd love to see them explain to a Court how "as a result of the delay get your free copy of the Standard edition today" equates to, "pick up your copy in advance, and we'll give you an opened, discless Collector's edition later".
That is NOT the definition of "free" on any reading. I don't even need to be a lawyer by trade to tell you that much. _________________

It all just seems a bit too vague to me in the way it's all worded. 'Copy' can mean many different things, like we'll give you a free 'duplicate' of the game and take the original when we receive it.
I edited my post above because I had to type it out quickly at the time, but they'll just stand to lose lots of money so I just can't see how they can be doing it, that's all I'm trying to get at. It's like they're not even offering to cancel pre-orders, more so 'locking you in' by giving away this standard edition.
And anyway, the game still isn't even meant to be out until Thursday?

Don't get me wrong, I understand that side of it, and I agree with you there. But I have the advantage of knowing what they can and can't get away with, and they've painted themselves into a corner if that's their intention.
The fact that they're not offering to cancel pre-orders = consideration. They're giving us a free standard edition as consideration for us retaining our pre-orders. Maybe they figure with the amount of CE versions they've sold, it's worth their while to keep on these few but dedicated customers? _________________

How do the Catwomen missions work? Are they intergrated into the main story? If so I probably should have waited until tomorrow.... _________________

Ok now word is out about the collectors edition delay i can confirm that it is a free copy, which looks exactly like the retail copy with a different barcode.
The free copy doesn't come out of the retailers pocket, it comes from warner themselves which to them costs nothing to print/burn a disc and get cases and covers for, and also the ps3 collectors was limited anyway so they wont be giving away many free copies anyway (5000-10000 max in australia)
The only stipulation to get the free copy was that you pay for your collectors edition in full before the collectors editions come in
So if eb ends up giving you a collectors edition with no disc then they are going against warners (the distributer) wishes about this compensation

The place I ordered from (Gamehead.com.au) are sure they're shipping the collectors edition out to me tomorrow. Is there not much of a delay or are they just delusional ?
I'd really like a free copy of the game now too haha. _________________

Yes they are intergrated, if you haven't got the DLC when you start the game you'd need to start again I believe. _________________

Ok, so I haven't been following this at all, but I think I want this game. What are my options? There seems to be a bajillion different versions.
JB had a $79 and an $89 one. Judging by this thread, the $10 more gets you Robin DLC? Is it worth that extra money? Does this do anything major?
And then my EB had what appeared to be a regular edition for $99 and a steelbook one for $98. What does the steelbook one have, and why is it $1 less?
What the hell is going on? _________________

This DLC idea is the worst ever. Thankfully the 360 DLC was up yesterday so I could grab it. _________________ Shin J Leon.

You're telling me. I thought it was just four episodes you could play whenever you want. Now I gotta start again!?! Urgh. _________________

They become *unlocked* has you play through them. But I think they need to be unlocked during a story play though _________________ Shin J Leon.

You could just play through the game you are playing now and play New Game + with the catwoman content. Otherwise, yes a restart would be in order.

Don't know why it's $1 less, maybe because it's EB exclusive? It comes with Joker's Carnival challenge map DLC, 70's Batman skin DLC and the movie Batman: Under the Red Hood on DVD/Blu Ray. _________________

You don't have to restart to play Catwoman. The missions are integrated into the story, but you can play them separately from the main menu.
If you install the DLC after you have started, any Catwoman missions you have not reached will be integrated into the story, but any that you have missed can be played as stand alone missions.

Got the red mask DVD with our xbox copy of B:AC wand watched it today. Its pretty good. 8.5/10.. now just need my collectors edition to arrive (ps3) so I can play it. (I got the xbox copy as my sons birthday present and have been avoiding watching him play so I don't get too many spoilers till my copy arrives. He says the ending is awesome......) _________________

The first call doesn't start the actual side mission, just an intro which gives you the trophy. You'll have to find a second ringing phone to actually start the mission. I forget the name of the area, but I found the second ringing phone in the south western district.
Edit: Your post was 3 days ago, I imagine you've figured it out by now, haha. _________________
