the only way jarrod would have love uncharted 2 is if you stick the nintendo sticker on it.

instant AAA+

while we're at that, why don't you play some 10 year old ports.

And now I'm sure UE3 is starting to show it's age. When the framerate gets low enough and the scene is complicated enough, you can twist your viewpoint around and see where the terrain mesh culling lags by a frame. Time to start designing a better multithreaded renderer methinks Epic.

I gotta say. I'm not entirely sure where the amazing graphics are in this game. What, with the horribly low resolution textures on some of the objects (a certain helicopter early in the game almost looks as bad as Samus in Metroid Prime), the bare-minimum particles, the almost constant dips below 30fps... at the very least, they've bumped the value slider up on their HSV palette again, so it certainly looks brighter than the last two games. I wonder if people look back at ye olde "next gen filter" fondly these days? But hey, trust Epic to make a corridor shooter properly on their corridor shooter engine, the tunnel sections tend to not have these problems.

The squadmate AI is on the right side of retarded. Most of the time. Being revived is a hit and miss affair. I had once instance where Baird walked right up to me, danced around me a few times like some tribal witch doctor, figured his work was done and went back to shooting something on the other side of the map. The game is yet another guilty party in the "Most important combatant on the battlefield" syndrome, it'll try to spread its love around to your AI squadmates but always favours you. Certainly nowhere near as bad as a Treyarch CoD game, but it's still noticeable.

I'm about half way through act 3, and the game has been mostly enjoyable so far. Still haven't found anything in the game to match the quality of Uncharted 2's train section, but it's certainly going to be worth the $70 I paid for it in the long run.

For the most parts I agree with the visuals comments - it does look good though in a more "gears" - still kind of good looking way - but artistry wise; I think Uncharted2 does look better now that I've finished Gears 3. The only time in gears3 that I was like "wow, look at that" was in Char in chapter 4. That looked amazing.

It is kind of amusing that they developed the godray "plugin" for the engine - and admittedly; it can look amazing; but they totally overdid it in some instance AND:...

even designed the boss fight around the godray so that the boss queens bug spewed light. And it looks amazing. But then; what else is there... either keep shooting at the mouth; or get downed and then revived or hide behind a wall to avoid the light... but it added nothing to that end boss fight.

However, you got to give props to the particle fog. That was the singular most impressive UE3.5 feature on display that had functional gameplay implications... so that and godrays. I thought the motion blur was janky.

GEARS1 > 2 > 3. I do think that they kind of broke the game with 3 - way too eays. Non of the turrent/vehicular sequences were fun and this lacked the impact that gears2 monsterworm had or the big ass sinking city.

^ Way to Easy? WTF have you even tried turning the difficulty slider up to Insane?

Gears 3 is the most fun I've had in a long time, played it straight after finishing Resistance 3 which was also damn fine but haven't touched that since. Have been too busy with all the various Multiplayer Gears games.

Epic nailed it with this game a 9.5 out of 10. On pure fun and replay value alone, Graphically it's great but hey the 360 is getting towards the end of its cycle so we have much higher standards now than we did when the Original was released. Sound is top notch too. Story is excellent and all ties up nicely. At the end of the day if your playing a shooter for story, you've come to the wrong place, you'd be best heading to the library or the Art House movie theatre.

I for one will look back in 5 years and remember GoW3 as one of the 360's biggest highlights along with Alan Wake, ME etc.

you can't play insane when you start the game. the hardest you can go to is hardcore and that was relatively easy all the way through Got minorly challenging in chapter 5 but that was it.

The game is easier than 1+2.

playing uncharted 3 MP game right now and it has godrays + volumetric cloud too icon_razz.gif The sandstorm level :O
