Cool. Did you accept? I'd like to put in an order for some nicer weather. _________________

like most people, when i was growing up, i had a list of bands i wanted to see live. true to the time i went to school, my list consisted of groups such as Nine Inch Nails, Rage Against the Machine, Metallica, David Bowie, Soundgarden, Marilyn Manson, The Prodigy, Tool, Fear Factory, Muse. (and probably more, but i've just woken up, so i've forgotten some...)
and, one by one, i ticked most of them off. the two from those days i missed out on were Rage Against the Machine, and Soundgarden, because both broke up before getting here.
i saw Audioslave, and thought that would be it.
then Rage reformed, and played a few US gigs, and i hoped they'd come downunder. then they did, and it was probably the best live show i'd ever seen.
then Soundgarden reformed, and played a few US gigs, and i hoped they'd come downunder.
today, they announced that intention.

Accept? I was too busy singing Kool and The Gang
I actually won't have anything to do with the weather, BoM is now responsible for the nations water information which is where I'll be working. _________________ Da Bessssss

They will still be doing the weather and maintaining the radars (I assume), thats just not the area where I'll be working.

When I was in grade 3 I had a certain book on permanent loan from the school library.
It told a story of a boy who's ant farm was eaten by a frog. It detailed how to make an ant farm and how to catch ants. It made it sound easy. I made my ant farm and in the two decades since I have come perilously close to populating it. Once letting a queen slip between my fingers because I was too busy thanking God for his provision. Its become a symbol that haunts my dreams, the formicary - the hive mind is my spirit animal. Most recently I dreamed about honey ants - handing one to my friend and watching them savour the sweet nectar then going to bite mine only for it to explode in my face. For those that can't read the language of the archetype - this was a message about me not living my destiny.
Six months ago I found inspiration and built an ant farm shaped like a skull - re-using the pieces of glass I had first paid for with my meagre allowance.
Döpp! What the fuck is this about? Get on with it!
Thursday last week I plopped myself down on the couch and burst into tears. It was the beginning of a carthesis that lasted all weekend. About a month ago I split with the girl I'd been seeing. I was mourning that, but also had been in mourning for myself, trying to grow from the experience to reasserting my being in the world. It was time to be reborn.
Against the tableaux of the Vernal Equinox much merrymaking was had. A sweet rabbit glazed with kumquat and served as our feast. I transplanted the symbol from Easter in protest of our topsy-turvey seasonal traditions.
After dinner I drew a circle in the dirt. Manning the stations of the cardinal points my brethren became elemental priests brandishing Salt of the Earth, Incense of Air, Water and Fire. I read from Jung's Seven sermons of the dead:
God lives behind the sun; the devil lives behind the night.
What god brings into birth from the light, that devil pulls into the night.
Abraxas, however, is the cosmos; its genesis and its dissolution.
To every gift of God-the-Sun, the devil adds his curse.
As the earth welcomes new life and new beginnings,
so can we be reborn.
The bird fights its way out of the egg. The egg is the world.
Who would be born must destroy a world. The bird flies to God.
That God's name is Abraxas.
That last bit is from Demian by Hermann Hesse, anime freaks may recognise it as paraphrased in Utena.
We each were reborn, throwing off robes of darkness to emerge into the light of a crackling fire. My husk of yesteryear forsaken, it's job rot and broken heart abandoned.
Saturday I faced the world anew - preparing to mow the winter's last lawn I overturned a broken shovel blade. Against the hot steel was a nest of green ants replete with larvae and eggs. It was an omen.
It made me smile.

Found out I actually came first in the test that got me my current job. I knew I was top few, didn't know it was first.
Knowing this made me really happy, all these suffering I went through just to get the degree did not go to waste. In fact, life now treated me so well, I reckon I am spoilt!. I love my job, flexible working hours and have a unique job. Hired as a developer and even though I still have to code for projects, I am allow to use company resources and learn Project Management and use the resource to set up a Linux server and maintain it, a server all to myself to play around <3
I wish I could have travel back in time, telling me of the past to stop crying every night when my study was interrupted with chronic headaches. At the time I kept considering following the neurologist's advice to take out a disability pension, stop studying and just get a job. Meh! .
And I hate to say that my bf was right but he was. He didn't like it when I called myself stupid because of my ailment affecting my study. I think I need to stop bringing myself down. _________________ "Work hard now, play even harder later"

As a result of our hot water service going out and having to get a plumber over, we had to clean out the laundry and junk around the unit. Housemate found a little cardboard box in amongst it all, pretty old looking, clearly left over from the previous occupants (old couple - pretty sure we're the first renters in the place).
Turns out that inside is an old, portable tripod - for use with cameras. It packs away into pleather zip case dealy, and has telescoping legs - at first i thought it was just a really chunky, solid mini-tripod, but it telescopes out to be pretty much full size!
Fantastic timing, as I was just heading out to take some photos. About to go and see how sturdy it is. I'm guessing not very, but it should get better reults than my shaky self would otherwise.
Thanks for the random, helpful junk old dudes =)
Edit: Well, that was short lived! Turns out it's stability rating was 'flimsy', and one of the joins buckled right near the bottom on a leg - damned well nearly caused a bad accident. Luckily it didn't, and my camera is safe. I guess perhaps there was a reason it was left stashed away in a dark corner. Oh well. _________________

Just got back from the Parramatta Westfield Nintendo Connection Tour 2011.
Skyward Sword... Really REALLY plain and simple fun!
Also I got interviewed by two of the people there and one of them said that I was their best interview and gave me a Zelda Shirt
Now I'm excited to find the video with me in it... in a few days when it's up somewhere. _________________

Found a new attempted email virus today. Called Symantec and let them know. They said it was the first time it had been reported. I said cool, can you name it after me. They said we'll see what we can do. _________________ I'd be apathetic, but I can't be arsed.
