There are no points! Skills are unlocked and become available for use as you grow in level. They also grow in power with you. |
i blame people not updating old info . but it's ok! will be able to check stuff out for myself since cleverbot tells me i'll be getting a beta code!

BETA IS LIVE!
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/blog/3542796#blog
...check your bnet account periodically, apparently some have received access but haven't received an e-mail notification.
It *may* just be press at the moment, but at least we know the invites are incoming in the very near future to the plebians _________________

Hopefully all that SC2 playing will net me an invite somehow!
Can they be forwarded on to others though? I've never participated in a beta, not sure if I really want to. I kind of imagine not being as excited when the retail version is out, having already played the beta to death.

Big arsed sad face
http://www.diablofans.com/blizz-tracker/topic/199763/%E2%80%9Csoon%E2%80%9D-was-too-soon-diablo-iii-to-arrive-in-early-2012
| Quote: | We commonly use the term “soon” when referring to Blizzard releases, because we know that no matter how hard we’re working to reach a target, we’re not going to compromise and launch a game before it’s ready. For Diablo III, we were aiming to launch by the end of 2011. As we’re announcing globally today, our new target for the game is early 2012.
While this news might not be a complete surprise, I know that many of you were hopeful that Diablo III would ship this year. We were too. However, this week we pulled together people from all of the teams involved with the game to decide whether we felt it would be ready before the end of December, and we grudgingly came to the conclusion that it would not. Ultimately, we feel that to deliver an awesome Diablo sequel that lives up to our expectations and yours as well, we should take a little more time and add further polish to a few different elements of the game.
The upside of today’s announcement is that we will be running the beta test longer than we initially planned, which will allow us to invite more of you who have opted in.
For those taking on the Diableard challenge, we salute you -- and now fear for your well-being and personal hygiene. We hereby issue an official reprieve to all Diableard participants, including Blizzard employees, if you want to trim or otherwise manage the lower half of your face. We’d still love to see your beardly achievements, and we look forward to seeing more of your efforts as we move into 2012, but not to the detriment of your workplaces and significant others.
Thank you everyone for your support and anticipation for Diablo III. We’re still moving ahead at full pace, and we’ll be keeping you fully informed of any news and developments here at Diablo3.com, including the specific release date when the time comes, so stay tuned.
-Mike Morhaime

^ Not really surprising... They announced SC2's release date 3-4 months in advance IIRC... Just give me the damn beta already! _________________

yeah can't say i'm surprised. it is blizzard after all.
on another note, they've started adding to their items list. guess these are the big sets to aim for for monk and demon hunter...wonder if i'll actually manage a full set this time around, unlike how my assassin from d2 never finished the set. _________________

An interesting beta impression, compared to others I read. It's actually a fair bit negative;
- Finally, the 'constant Internet connection required' thing even for a single-player game is a pain in the neck. The first couple of times I tried to play, I was disconnected from the server after 15 minutes of play (though not informed until several minutes after it happened). After logging back in to resume my game, it was clear that the progress I had made in the time between I was connected to the server and when I was informed the connection had been lost.
Hmmm, I don't like this one bit.
- Shortly after accepting the quest (from the captain who had an orange exclamation point over his head, sound familiar?)
Nothing major but I was hoping we could move away from this mechanic.

They wont release the game with constant disconnections, I wouldnt worry.
I can't think of the last time my PC wasn't connected to the internet so no big deal for me. _________________ XBL/PSN/Steam: BenC82

Yeah the internet connection thing is just teething issues. A bit like during the Starcraft II beta and shortly after release there were a few issues with achievement support (which you must be online for), I've not seen it have a problem since.
The weirdest thing about that article is that you don't get to pick skills anymore, you just get them all unlocking as you level up. Seems kind of... cheap... to me. I just the runestones will be where the customisation is at. _________________

I was aware of the skill/rune system, so it was no surprise to me. But yeh, it's something different. From what I've read from other beta impressions, it works quite well.

Yeah it does look nice. Still shots are not that hard to get at photographic quality though. Animation will be the key, but knowing Blizzard it will be top notch. _________________

The word around the traps is that we'll be getting a few of these stills and they'll form part of an upcoming cinematic trailer.
Typical Blizzard drip-feed (slow roast) marketing. _________________

I'd hit that just for the game + soundtrack. The music of Diablo has always been a high water mark...
...but that bloody Diablo skull is amazing! _________________

The artbooks are the things I always like the most. Apart from the games of course =)
Already had an argument with the wife about her wanting the Tyrael wings. How can I give her a set without giving up my own CE stuff (SC2 portraits and such) and not having to buy her a $150 copy as well? =\ _________________
