My PC ran the alpha on medium settings ok once the new NVIDIA drivers were released for it. I didn't push it any higher because i was playing on American servers and didn't want to push my luck.
Hopefully with Aussie servers being provided this time i can see if it can handle ultra.

Why are they running it so late? It almost just seems like a hype-building exercise. The game is due out on Oct 25, by the time it goes gold and they start making the discs, then shipping them around the world, it doesn't seem like they'll have any time to change anything.

There will probably be day 1 patches.
It's a multiplayer beta test, for a game that requires an internet connection to play multiplayer, thus the ability to update whenever they want.
It's a combination of hearing feedback from a wider audience to make balance changes, and to give everyone something they can try, and grow to like, before resetting stats, and taking it away from them, leaving them feeling empty and full of longing.
