Thats the other issue I have. I think stuff like the MGS Collection, ZOE Collection and FFX are great if you want to play them on the go, but I'll be buying them on my PS3. For the same reasons I wont be buying MGS3DS (that and it being a half arsed port), I wont be getting these games for the Vita.
A Vita is a guarentied purchase, eventually, I'm just in no rush. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out why I bought a 3DS. People equate God of War, Killzone, Gran Turismo and Uncharted with Sony, and that is enough reason for them to buy any Sony system. I equate Mario, Zelda and Metroid with Nintendo, and that is why those systems take priority for me. _________________

Goddammit, I know I'm going to standing in line at some god forsaken hour some where in Shinjuku (haven't decided which shop to go to yet) waiting in a line just for, well I'm going to have to try and get a few now since my some of my friends here in Australia are asking me to bring them all back a Vita.
It'll also freaking December so it's going to be bloody cold.
Haven't quite decided which games to get at launch, probably looking at the very least Uncharted, Ridge Racer, Blazblue, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom, Power Smash 4, damn they don't have a mah jong game ... they usually have one around launch time. _________________

that's comparable to 3DS but the 3DS is... like 1-2 gen back from what is technically a portable ps3
computational grunt and it holds up as well. _________________

*waves at chibiandy*, oh there will no doubt be a mad rush on the amiami pre-order when that opens up, I'll have to get my cousin place a few pre-orders on my behalf, but I know shops usually have a 1 per customer limit, so I'll have to do the line up to try and get a few extra units.

Ah yeah I know about that, Shinsei Zenkoku Taisen Han but I don't think it's a launch title, actually I don't think it even has a release date yet. _________________

Sort a. You get double the battery life without 3D, which is how I tend to play the 3DS now (except for cut scenes). I normally get 5-6 hours out of a session.
3DS is still horrible though even if you get 5 hours out of the device. It's not the fault of the hardware vendors cause the battery technology is crap (smart phones all have the same problem); it's just pretty frustrating for us users.
Ah least Sony are making the battery replacable so you can 'plan' trips.
I just DS we had it like the days of the DS Lite which was awesome. _________________ Shin J Leon.

As I said, we desperately need a revolution in battery technology.
Someone go invent something awesome. Please, and thank you. _________________

That's actually a really awesome idea. Kind of like those DVD/BR double packs.

Yep, it's been confirmed by Shuhei Yoshida himself that it'll be region free _________________

Speaking of Yoshida...he doesn't recommend that you import a Japanese Vita console.
| Quote: | A few minutes ago the president of Sony Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida posted on twitter that he wouldn’t recommend importing the PS Vita from Japan.
According to Yoshida-san, there can be some minor nuisances due to playing western games on Japanese consoles, like the fact that the circle and the X buttons are inverted.
He also said that dates for the western launch will be announced soon:
Here’s the full transcript straight from the horse’s mouth:
"There are people who are interested in importing the Japanese version of PS Vita from outside Japan, but I personally do not recommend that.”
Then he promised to share a launch date for the western markets soon:
"Sorry to make you wait a bit longer. We will update the launch dates outside Japan soon.“
When asked to elaborate on the reason why he didn’t recommend it he explained:
"Sorry I’m not explaining well, but from my experience owning both US and J game consoles of everything, there tend to be minor nuisances.“
And then he clarified further:
"Like inconsistency between the use of x and o buttons between system software and games.“
He also explained why the X and Circle buttons are in a different layout on Japanese PlayStation consoles:
"It’s a legacy, but in Japan circle means “yes”, cross means “no”.” |
I actually agree that the switching of the X and O buttons annoys me, and puts me off. That, and the fact that all the games will be in Japanese. I'll be waiting for the western release.
He also talked about the lessons that Sony have learned from releasing the PSP, and mentions Nintendo a couple of times. _________________

That x and o really isn't that big of deal. All my multitude of psp hardware have been the Japanese release and I can play games from Australia fine without that whole x and o being an issue at all. Actually I never really got why you westerners saw "x" as go - "x" is cancel dammit!
Also not all games from Japan are "Japanese only" a lot of the western titles from to time to time have the English scripts still part of the game, it's just that the Japanese release doesn't advertise it. I'm just mostly basing this off my psp experiences.
But the best way to experience this, learn Japanese? It's only plain Japanese. _________________

Having played through Final Fantasy VII about 20-odd times since 1997(No, I'm not kidding) I can easily get used to the X and O swapping. However I don't really feel the need to rush to get a Vita, early next year suits me just fine. _________________

yikes. button difference is kind of a deal breaker. I'm playing dinocrisis 2 on the ps3 and triangle to cancel is kind of annoying. _________________

If triangle is to cancel then that's the mapping of the game not of the PSP's default settings.
this situation only affects the buttons x and o, the default being x cancel and o being enter for Japanese and reverse for the western world. _________________

X as go? I only know X and O being hug and kisses and there isn't many western titles that does do X=kiss and O=hugs . Why this inconsistency came about anyway? Wish I knew what were in their mind...
Thanks for being up the difference though, so many years X is the down and O is the right and that's how my brain mapped it. _________________ "Work hard now, play even harder later"

The button difference only takes a day to get used to.
What messes with me now is some games flick back my console to having X to select instead of O, but then the save I press O. (Usually PAL exclusives and effing NHL)
So probably would like a JAP / HK version -- just for some consistancies with my PS3. _________________

I don't really see the button difference a problem, then again, I play a fair bit of Japanese games so I'm used to it now, although I've noticed some of the Japanese games I play adhere to our button arrangements _________________
