Anyone getting this? Been looking for a DBZ game but Raging Blast demos were meh to me. This looks pretty sweet although probably overdoes the QTE usage.

I'm glad to see that someone else has an interest in this game! After the lack of response to Raging Blast, I haven't bothered to post up anything about Ultimate Tenkaichi. I'm planning to buy it on release as it looks like a really good refinement for the series, though I agree that the QTE usage is a little high. I'm hoping that there's an option to turn them off, but if not, it's not so bad.

Ive bought every new release with the hope that it will be better than DBZ Budokai 3 on the PS2 and it never is.

Ahh, I remember when Budokai 3 came out, it was pretty much the first DBZ game released in the west with positive reviews. We played that game to death, it was so much fun. When Budokai Tenkaichi came out, it was a different kind of awesome. I actually felt like a character in the anime since you can fly around all over the place, so bloody cool.

Unfortunately I haven't felt the need to play any more DBZ games after B3 and BT, and the series seems to have dipped after BT3 anyway...

As for this game, yeah seems like there's way too much QTE. You definitely want a DBZ game to be fast-paced, and stopping the action every 20 seconds is gonna get really annoying for the players.

Tenkaichi 3 was awesome! So many playable characters, and really refined gameplay. The Raging Blast games have played like weaker versions of Tenkaichi 3, so I've enjoyed them, but not as much. Ultimate Tenkaichi looks like it's going down a slightly different path. It seems to be focusing on cinematic value, with fancy camera movements, a different look to the characters, and some quick time events. What I like best in Ultimate is what they've done to capture the feel of the anime better, with more authentic beam struggles and super attacks. The ending of the Trunks vs Android 17 video is the kind of thing that I play these games for. icon_smile.gif I really like their new approach to super attacks.

I really get a sense of 'power' and 'speed' from watching the 2 vids I posted and that's what I want from a DBZ game.

I mostly get a sense of speed, I think they've sped up the combat a bit since Raging Blast 2.

Wow. The mileage they get out of this series never ceases to amaze me. The anime finished what, 7-8 years ago? And they're still making games? With no signs of it slowing down? Incredible.

The anime finished in early 1996 (mid 2003 in the U.S). The fact that new media is still being produced is a testament to just how popular the series is. icon_smile.gif

Grr this thread has given me the urge for some DBZ style uber destruction, I might just hook up the PS2 this week and play Budokai Tenkaichi 2, which I've had since its release but barely touched. I'm expecting this to be even better than the first since this has transformations during battle =)

hey don't forget that DB Kai only finished this year =p a shame it stopped at the end of the cell saga though. I heard this games goes all the way until the end of Dragonball GT story.

It's strange that Kai ended with the Cell saga, I don't understand why they did that. icon_sad.gif

topaz: Tenkaichi 2 is a big improvement over the first one. The transformation system makes the game a lot more interesting, and there's just more to do in general. icon_smile.gif

Oh no if it comes out on the 25th then I might have to cave in and get 2 PS3 games this fortnight.I HAVE to have this but BF3 was going to be my next game and I really want both.If I just simply can't bring myself to buy 2 games this fortnight then sadly BF3 will have to wait.

I just saw some footage of the actual game now that some people have gotten their hands on it. It seems that they've worked some clips from the anime into the story mode to bridge the gap between fights and help to illustrate the plot, awesome. icon_smile.gif The game has a rather nice new anime opening video too! We haven't seen one of those since Budokai 2!
