Marathoned the season this past weekend which is why I didn't post earlier/episode.

Man, the episode where Philip goes insane and plays the race card was si hard to watch. I was literally laughing out loud both from shock and aghast. I wonder what he thinks of himself when watching this. O do agree with the sentiment that he's insane/crazy. Just flat out bonkers. All the more telling when at the finale, no one said they liked him. Pretty much universally loathed.

That said, rob being the winner made me so happy. And then of course, his defense of Philip made me think what a wonderful person he was. When everyone saw the bad, he was able to see humanity in that hot mess.

One of the best seasons yet. That finale challenge, I was besides myself in panic hoping hoping hoping that Boston rob would win final immunity. Nearly jumped outta my skin when he did.

*that Matty blindside x2 = hilarious although his nervous breakdown was kind of hard to watch

* Phillip was such a train wreck all season... Ep 12-14 I was still wondering if he was a cunning stealthy genius. Alast, he's a delusional crazy

* felt bad that rob and grant fell out big time. Episode 12, rob even apologized on the island for the blindside. I wonder if grant saw that.rob at that point really had no choice when what's her face won immunity during the fish bone challenge

And lol @ Russell hantz. He got schooled by n00bs and a true survivor strategist master.

On grant+rob

Quote:
What’s Grant’s beef with you — other than the obvious fact that you backstabbed him? Did you get to the bottom of that?
Man, I haven’t. And you know what? It’s frustrating, because I had a relationship with Grant out there and obviously I know I’m not going out there to make friends, but I did make friends with him, and of anybody out there I thought that he would be able to handle it and get that it’s just a game. We said it so many times out there. I ingrained it into my tribe’s head — ”Look, guys, this is just a game. After, everybody will be fine.” — in order to get their votes in the end because I knew I was going to have to backstab every one of them. So I tried to put it in their head that it’s just a game. And I thought he would be able to take it. I reached out to him on a number of occasions and at some point when it’s not reciprocated you just got to give the guy his space. Hopefully in time he comes around.

... the phone calls and text messages kind of stopped after the episode where it showed me taking the clue and switching it out on him. I don’t know if there was an embarrassment level, or the fact that he got played or schooled — I don’t know if his buddies were giving him a hard time and ribbing him. I don’t know. It’s unfortunate but what can you do, man?

/sigh... What a pity

This is something that bothers me, I found this season to be really boring, and I think that the fact that THEMAN liked it so much is further proof to my theory.

THEORY:
This season is either fantastic or horrible depending on how you watch it. Most of us, we hated it, because we had to wait weeks in between seeing Rob make another obvious vote-off. Whereas if you were to watch it in one big go, you'd find it awesome to see Rob so smoothly master this season. It's what I've been thinking all season is that it'd be way more fun if the flow wasn't ruined by waiting week after week. I think that I will need to watch this season again in a year or two, I think this season will get better in memory than after just watching it. That being said, I would currently rate it in probably my bottom 5 just because it was so predictable and boring and the Ometepe tribe annoyed me to all get-out. But like I said, it's only predictable if you watch it with gaps, marathoning it all at once would be one huge suspense build up to the final challenge and would be fantastic.

So who knows, I'll need to think about it. Still, Rob definitely deserved to win. And I liked Dave more and more as the season went one, as with Mike, I hope they both return at some point in the future. Matt too. But Phillip? Never again. Him along with NaOnka are 2 of my least favourite players. Ever.

Key reason as to why I disliked Russel as a a player, he was a smack in the face and eventually you get tired of someone or something which constantly smacks you int he face and you seek to fight back, it was a slightly different smacking with Rob in that it was a far more social one instead of an underhanded concept, but it doesn't make it any less predictable and thereby boring for audiences to be engaged with if they can surmise or know how it ends.

Me, I stopped watching when Matt got sent back to redemption after being a flaming retard, because it was all him and his bad instead of Robs godlike status amongst everyone who'd be carrying him whilst holding a gigantic neon sign warning them to vote him off.

I've disliked these past few seasons, it's just been... obvious.

*yawn* yep the whole game went exactly according to plan with no twists surprises or anything.. The whole redemption island twist failed like anything as well.

Was nice to see Rob finally win, and he owned the game of course, which was also nice too. It was funny that he pretty much did exactly what Russel did but without the hostility.

Ahh well, I wonder who the next 2 returning survivors will be in the next season?

How can anyone say that this season is boring. THe fact that Philip was on all the episodes making them all borderline unwatchable... well, that's good tv in a fashion.

And I still don't like him. There was something unnrerving about the way he verves off into insanity - the edit of him vs tall white nfl guy was really hard to watch and then; he walks around with the machete and it really felt like he could have just snapped and chopped up the others.

I was very uncomfortable watching him.

* as for rob, he could easily still have been voted out on the final episode. If he hadn't won that immunity; he would have gone. Its like season 7 where the amazing firefighter guy; did everything right. Should have won. Went to final immunity, lost. 1 million dollar mistake.

btw my favourite character this season was that ratty waitress who was part of Russell's alliance. As for Russell crying about the others at the reunion - about them voting him out - he's so pathetic now. You've played 2 games where you're absolutely horrible to play with; you continue to be awful and people just dislike you... of course they'd make a choice to boot you. I wasn't surprised one bit. He bloody well deserved it. I liked him in his 1st season but the subsequent ones were just too much.

+

Fuck yeah sandra giving it to both parvati/russell icon_smile.gif

Well, Since this seasons done, who do you think's coming back?... There are lots of people I'd like to come back, I'm REALLY hoping that it's 2 people who haven't had a 2nd chance yet. The 2 I would LOVE it to be are Erik Reichenbach (Survivor Micronesia and my favourite Survivor of all time. Ever.) and Stephen Fischbach (Survivor Tocantins). Although there are plenty of others I wouldn't mind any of the following:

Redemption Island: Dave, Matt, Mike, Andrea.
Nicaragua: Brenda, Fabio or Jill
Samoa: Dave Ball and Erik Cardona and The non-existant Brett.
Tocantins: Taj
Gabon: Kenny, Ace
China: Todd
Fiji: Dreamz, Michelle
Cook Islands: Yul
Panama: Shane (Who I think has a very good shot at being one of the people they bring back as he was Just cut out of Heroes Vs Villains and replaced by Russel)
Guatemala: RAFE!!!!!! He was hilarious, and awesome at challenges, he's another one I would love to return
Palau: Ian
Vanuatu: No-one
Pearl Islands: Burton
Amazon:.. I'll make a slight exception to the "no 3rd chance rule" and say Rob Cesternino, he was awesome. Seriously. Another favourite of all time.
And no one else from anything earlier. Maybe Greg from season 1, but he didn't seem the return type.

Anyway, that's my big list of cool people that haven't come back yet minus Rob who TOTALLY deserves another chance.

And of people coming back for the 3rd or more time, Ozzy, Parvati (always a pleasure), Rob Cesternino, again. Woo Rob. Kathy, Sugar, Courtney, Coach, Tyson, Yau Man (Another HvV decliney), Eliza, Richard Hatch (Another person I think is very likely to return since the only reason he wasn't in HvV was because of legal bindings) Jerri (Who I only really liked in HvV, she became awesome, and JT.

But all in All, I think that the highest probability people to return, are Matt, Mike, Richard Hatch, Yau-Man and Shane, and maybe Parvati. Any of which I would be super happy with. Although if it's someone like Parvati or Richard Hatch, they would almost certainly be voted out immediately. And I don't think Yau-man would have the chops to go at it with a bunch of people who see him as a HUGE threat jury wise and skill-based challenge wise. Anyways, here's hoping to a fantastic season of Survivor to come. They're always better near the ocean anyways icon_biggrin.gif. I hope for some water challenges, I miss those.

And now for something completely different. Some of you may enjoy this, it's a fairly well known in the Survivor community guy Mario Lanza, a fair few contestants know him and communicate with him through email etc. Anyway, he has famously made the site:

Survivor: The Funny 115 Moments.
With Seasons 1-11 - http://funny115.com/v1/version1.htm
And the currently in progress seasons 12-20 - http://www.funny115.com/v2/version2.htm

This site lists the most hilarious moments throughout Survivors history and is a great thing to read when you have a spare few minutes in the day. Hilarious. Seriously.

Anyways, that's my big-ass spiel at an end. Hope it was fun.

Yes, but you can also see Matt from RI, Candace from Tocantins, and a fair few other people. They're just action shots and have no bearing on who is actually coming back. As an example, in the Samoa preview for Heroes Vs Villains, you can see people like Ozzy and a fair few others, none of whom are in the actual cast.

SIDE NOTE!!!! This is my 777th post. Happy days! hopefully a lucky one.

For those who simply CAN'T wait for information on the newest season of survivor, I stumbled upon this (spoiler free) site with information on the 16 new castaways:
[PREPARE FOR COPY AND PASTE]

Mark Anthony Caruso is a 47 year-old retired NYPD morgue detective turned registered nurse from Forest Hills, New York. This “Santa Claus” look-a-like wants to be the father figure on his tribe.

Sophie Clarke is a 22 year-old pre-med student from Willsboro, New York. Young and accomplished, Clarke comes off as cocky, which could be her undoing the game of Survivor.

John Cochran is a 23 year-old Harvard law student from Oakton, Virginia. Cochran completed his undergraduate studies at Columbia University. This huge Survivor fan knows how to play the game and says that 99% of his strategy is based on adaptability.

Albert Destrade is a 25 year-old high school baseball coach and dating coach from Plantation, Florida. Destrade says that others will think he’s a dumb athlete, although he’s very calculating.

Whitney Duncan is a 26 year-old singer/songwriter from Nashville, Tennessee. This rising country star says that she craves adventure and is always looking to do something crazy… even though her family thinks she’s nuts.

Brandon Hantz is a 19 year-old oil tankerer from Katy, Texas. This season’s youngest competitor, he is also married with one son, and has a daughter on the way. Brandon’s last name will no doubt be familiar to Survivor fans. He is the nephew of notorious Survivor villain Russell Hantz, who previously played the game three times, finishing in the Final Three twice and then departing early on in his most recent stint.

Edna Ma is a 35 year-old anaesthesiologist from Los Angeles, California. In addition to her duties as a doctor, Ma is also an entrepreneur who created a numbing cream for women to use before getting a bikini wax. While she admits that she lacks physical strength, Ma says that she is good at earning peoples’ trust since she does it on a daily basis.

Dawn Meehan is a 40 year-old English professor from South Jordan, Utah. This Mormon wife and mother of 6 adopted children teaches at Brigham Young University and has gotten into excellent shape through her quest to compete on Survivor.

Rick Nelson is a 51 year-old cattle rancher and horseback riding guide from Aurora, Utah. Nelson won a nation-wide casting contest back in February 2011, which helped to get him onto the show. The same contest was won last year by Jimmy Tarantino of Survivor: Nicaragua.

Stacey Powell is a 44 year-old mortician from Grand Prairie, Texas. The eldest woman this season, Powell does not want to take on the role of being “mother” of her tribe, even though she has children in real life.

Jim Rice is a 34 year-old medical marijuana distributor and professional poker player from Denver, Colorado. Rice has a high opinion of himself, believing that he is the smartest member of the cast and an “excellent player.”

Christine Shields Markoski is a 39 year-old teacher from Merrick, NY. She plans to “lay low in the beginning and kick butt in the end,” but what she didn’t count on was missing her family even before the game started. How will this affect her ability to play the game?

Semhar Tadesse is a 24 year-old poet from Los Angeles, California. Originally from Washington, this Eritrean beauty previously lived in war-torn Africa for a year. Does that give her an advantage? Not according to Tadesse, who claims that she lived in the city, not in the wild.

Keith Tollefson is a 26 year-old environmental field technician from San Diego, California. Originally from Edina, Minnesota, this “nice guy” was born with a heart condition and now has a pacemaker. He worries that his condition may lead to an early exit if his tribemates feel that he’ll garner sympathy votes.

Elyse Umemoto is a 26 year-old model and go-go dancer from Las Vegas, Nevada. She was crowned Miss Washington USA 2007 and was the first Native American to win the title.

Mikayla “Miki” Wingle is a 21 year-old model, bartender, and lingerie football player from Tampa, Florida. Even though others may think of her as manipulative, Wingle says that she just knows how to get what she wants out of people.

[COPY AND PASTE ENDED]

So anyway, that's that. Also, here is the picture provided with this info of the castaways

Hope you enjoy!

Yessirry, it airs in roughly 60 hours from this point (2am Tuesday 13th).

roughly.

I'm super duper excited, LOVE Mark, he's gotta be my favourite, but there's a lot of decent castaways this season, I'd go so far as to say there's only 1 survivor I do not like, "Rick". Other than him, it's almost pure quality

That was a pretty awesome first episode!

The cast seems great. Standout players for me would have to be Elyse, Jim and Mikayla. Elyse just seems to have a great head on her shoulders (and is ridiculously hot), Jim is funny and Mikayala owned in the immunity challenge.

I actually think the returning players work this time. While Rob and Russell sought to control their alliances, Coach and Ozzy are just being useful. I loved how they both managed to integrate themselves into their tribes well, especially considering Coach was a marked man at the start and now seems to have worked himself into a solid alliance. It's probably a bit too early to tell though.

The best thing about the episode by far however, was the challenges! The first one was one of the best puzzles in forever and that immunity challenge was great too. It was so close! Hopefully the high standard of challenges continues.

I was trying keep my expectations for this season low, but if this episode is anything to go by, it should be good.

I agree with Macka for the most part, I'm loving Mikiwingle (Mikayla 'Miki' Wingle. Best surname ever), my all time favourite so far would have to be Mark 'Papa Bear' Anthony Caruso. Love him, he seems to have integrated into his tribe really well and isn't too stand-outish to be a leader despite him being older.

Another person I'm incredibly impressed with is Jim, especially how he was able to immediately acknowledge that Ozzy was trying to keep Semhar for 'a reason' and he seems to have convinced most of the tribe to go with him, I believe in terms of voting, Jim and Papa Bear will have more pull and be leaders of that alliance, whereas Ozzy will only really be there for challenges and not assume an alliance leadership position, I don't believe that Ozzy will be the mastermind behind many if any votes.

At least pre-merge icon_biggrin.gif Hopefully he gets there.

On the other hand Cochran definitely was below my expectations, and according to Dalton Ross' Survivor Recap* (and he was there on location for the first few days) the first tribal council went FOREVER! Apparently hours, and it was just Cochran talking himself in circles and digging himself deeper, and When it came down to him or Semhar, I couldn't pick it, although I'm glad it went the way it did.

One last note, the challenges!!!! Firstly, glad there was 2, and I REALLY hope that there are reward challenges this season. I pray for them.

In the Reward challenge between Coach and Ozzy, The Tower of Hanoi puzzle, I did some research and apparently the 6 layered puzzle they had (which includes the turtle) took a MINIMUM of 63 moves if done perfectly, so that, combined with pressure, combined with tribemates telling them possibly wrong moves, that could have taken hundreds of moves.

All-in-all, great episode, and I've got high hopes for the future!

shiiiii teee season. religious mumbo jumbo and annoying twats. I wasn't too unhappy with the choice of the winner as the other 2 ... well, 1 didn't get any votes (duh... all the more amusing considering all his talking heads have been - "I don't give a shit about honor/people etc el).... and the other was smug and annoying and pretended not to be.

It wasn't that bad of a season, but I wasn't entirely happy with the winner.

First and foremost, I still hate both the Redemption Island and Returning Player twists. They just suck. That being said, I still would have voted for Coach to win this season, because I believe he played a head and shoulders better game than anyone else.

The way Coach transformed himself this season was pretty fantastic. Right of the bat he was faced with a lukewarm reception from his tribe, but somehow managed to turn that around and form a five person alliance on Day 1 that remained strong until the end of the game. He lead his tribe into the merge, and was instrumental in flipping Cochran. I also think his control over his tribe is far more impressive than Boston Rob's last season. For starters, the people on the Upolu tribe are far more intelligent than those who were in Rob's alliance. Also, just because of the way Rob managed to control the game last season would have made it harder to pull off again, as the new players would be wary, but Coach managed it.

I do like Sophie though, I think she played a good, quiet game and she's far from a bad winner. I do, however, think that the Jury pretty much voted against Coach rather than for Sophie.

Ozzy winning fan favourite baffles me. I do like him, but he was an arrogant fuck this season, and made some of the dumbest moves I've seen, which is even worse considering he's played before and should have known better.

I would have been much, much happier had Coach won, finally ending his Survivor story and allowing Sophie to come back in a later All-Stars season, because I think she has the potential to play an amazing game if she was to come back.

Now it's only a matter of time before Coach returns.

Definitely wasn't a fan of this season.... Coach, Ozzy, Brandon, Cochran and RI ruined it for me (and I think that those 5, no hyperbole, had like 90% of the screen time)

RI took too much time away from the in tribe shenanigans which made the season not as good. It was like "8 minutes"/ep on RI nonsens which wasn't really that engaging.

Game was ozzys to lose - and he blew it. I thought it would have been pretty easy to match the 1st one. Pick 1 with the longer distinct petals and go for it but he dun goofed.

was fairly boring the whole season, would have been nice to Cochran make another few big moves once he originally switched...

Buy yeah, nice and standard. Was nice to see a season where there wasn't really much chaos, however I hope every other season never does this again.

He couldn't have made any more big moves, because nobody on Upolu would have gone for it. Cochran was an idiot, and it surprises me that so many people seem to like him. I'll admit that I loved him in the pre-game interviews, but he was incredibly underwhelming as a player.

As a self professed 'student of the game', he made so many mistakes it wasn't funny. Every time he opened his mouth at Tribal council it's like he was asking to be voted off, and then he made the unbelievably stupid mistake of flipping. I mean, I can understand not wanting to draw rocks, but if he had come to his tribe and asked for the idol, they would have played it for him and it would have all worked out.

It's as Jim said at the reunion, you can't stab five people in the back and expect to get their votes at the end, and for Cochran, who has supposedly 'never missed an episode' of Survivor, he should have known it has never worked for anybody in the past. Flippers don't win.

Sorry for the rant, but Cochran really disappointed me, I wanted him to do well.
