From what I've heard the Dolphin emulator runs this game in particular basically perfectly.
While I could set it up on Dolphin and connect it to my TV, I'm too far in to start over now and can't be bothered. It still looks good on the actual Wii.

When I played Goldeneye my Wii gave me artifacts in the top left part of the screen, this large cluster of white dots would appear whenever there was smoke or anything on screen (which was most of the time consider guns emit smoke). I am 20+ hours into Xenoblade and have seen no artifacts of any kind. _________________

I'm still waiting for the game to arrive, but my soundtrack arrived from CDJapan and it is 4-discs of fantastic music. I've listened to each disc about 3 or 4 times now and while some tracks are better than others, there doesn't seem to be any partiularly weak tracks either. There's also a variety of different music styles, but everything seems to go together really well.
Since I haven't played Xenoblade, I have no idea of where the different tracks feature in-game, but the soundtrack definitely requires no knowledge of the game to enjoy it. Well worth a purchase as the 12-track sampler soundtrack we're getting here definitely isn't enough to satisfy when the full soundtrack is so good. _________________

Mine finally came yesterday with the red wii mote!
I died inside Friday arve when I got home from work, sick, after getting a speeding fine and NO.......
But yes, yesterday it came AND I WAS HOME SICK!
So, clocked up the first 11 hours yesterday and last night and I AM IN LOVE. This game looks way more beautiful than any HD JRPGs, yes FF13 included, I much prefer a dynamic open worls (like this and my all time DQVIII) am in heaven, in love, buying soundtrack/posters.
Thanks Wii, best console this gen easily. Keep your damn shooters and online this is HEAVEN. _________________

Ordered mine from Zavvi a week and a half ago, hopefully it'll arrive today or tomorrow, otherwise I'll be bummed out all weekend...
I'm expecting big things, since people are calling this the best JRPG of the current gen after all. CANNOT wait! _________________

It seems pretty much every UK store has sold out of Xenoblade and copies are fetching between $100-150 on ebay. Crazy.

I managed to grab a local copy on Saturday from Game, the last left in the stores here. At this point after having played through to the end of the real 'prologue', in a word the game is 'wow'. Not sure how long I've been playing for, but I spent forever trying to build up relationships in the Colony before finishing the first bit of the story. I was trying for 3-stars, but gave up as I was asked to get something that was protected by a giant frog that was 3-4 times my party level and undefeatable. Anyway, at this stage it seems well worth paying full price for and I don't see that changing.
Having a lot of fun just running around, collecting stuff and battling, but the story has been done really well up to this (early) point and I'm looking forward to seeing how it progresses. This seems to be one of those games were the side-questing is really easy to lose yourself in. Obsessive compulsives are going to have a lot to do and I'm kinda scared of missing a few minor things here and there.
The local version doesn't have a reversable cover, but the CD is made in Australia, so is possibly unique (I think there was a sampler in Japan as well and the UK got a code for digital download). The track selection is pretty good. No substitute for the full soundtrack, but most people should be happy with the track selections. _________________

I finished this last night. Pretty good overall though I am not a fan of "You're at the door, but to open it GO BACK AND COLLECT A BUNCH OF RANDOM ITEMS!" which the game makes you do countless times in the main story. "You're at an elevator, but go find the power switch to make it work!" *wants to slap Monolithsoft*
Anyway, I hope you're all keen on quests, because if you don't do them good luck beating the game, you need to be at LEAST level 80 to win _________________

You and me both
But at least our copies are on their way. Seems like it's pretty hard to find this game in both retail or online stores. Nintendo would be wise to manufacture more copies since this is in high demand. _________________

so based on most of the comments on here, this game obviously seems to be really great. but I'm not the biggest fan of JRPG's - I think the only two I've ever tried to play were both Eternal Sonata and Lost Odyssey, both of which I ended up selling because I just didn't seem to get into it.
I guess my question is, with all this in mind, could I enjoy Xenoblade Chronicles and actually want to play the game til the end? _________________

Xenoblade has much much more exploration and freedom than Eternal Sonata and Lost Odyssey. It's a pretty mainstream JRPG too with a traditional feel, probably should rent it first as the story might not be for you. _________________

If you don't like JRPGs, there is no reason why you would like this.
As a JRPG, it is one of the best games to come out in a very long time, mainly because it does so much right using existing systems. In addition to having amazing music and a surprisingly good graphics engine (for the Wii).

Its essentially an old school traditional RPG done right. Think an evolved version of FFXII, with more modern conventions and conveniences. It also feels like a single player MMO at times. _________________

Thanks for the responses, guys. Part of the reason I asked is because I have enjoyed games with RPG elements, ie Fallout, as well as other games like Earthbound and Chrono Trigger (not sure if this one counts as a JRPG?) I guess I'll wait it out for a little bit, see if I can be persuaded by the reviews for it. _________________

I say take the plunge. Those RPGs you played and mentioned are pretty archaic (Lost Odyssey and Eternal Sonata). Xenoblade does away with a lot of the issues that repeat themselves in JRPGs (backtracking, random battles etc) and is very progressive in this sense. The story is quite awesome and Japanesey but also surprisingly dark and weird at times (is this just me?). Its good enough and different enough for me to say to you, take the plunge. _________________

So apparently for all those who got the UK version of Xenoblades if you register it with the european Nintendo Club you can download the music sampler disc that came with the Aus version. I don't know if this is true so don't quote me on it. _________________ Currently Playing : Atelier Iris 2 (PS2), Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii), Legend of Heroes : Trails of the Sky (PSP), 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors (DS) and Final Fantasy XIII (PS3)

Yeah you can. I've registered mine but the download stops after a while, resulting in a corrupted file. I haven't tried it since but it might work fine now. _________________

Finally got the game today, very happy since I've given up hope of getting it this week, so that was a pleasant surprise. This song played in my head as I was opening the parcel:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AA_dMjRSSLk
I registered with Club Nintendo UK (got the EU copy), and I can confirm that you can indeed download the special 12-song soundtrack. The offer expires at the end of this month though (30/09) so those with EU versions should get in quick.
More on the game itself after I spend more time with it _________________
