Still waiting for my copy to arrive from crappy fishpond and this thread makes me want it more. Definitely never ordering from there again. _________________

I think a side-mission may have glitched. The only objective I have left is to read an autopsy report but I have read it but the objective doesn't get ticked off. _________________ Welcome to the internet. Where any joke can turn into WWIII.

Its early dyas (2nd mission) but i'm kind-of underwhelmed. I was expecting free-form game play and its there but limited to stealth/shoot/environment... fallout does it better. The stealth is OK but the hit and miss, and the AI is only average (and whats with AI still being unable to look up? run into a single entrence room, climb the only other exit point (ladder) and they come in and dont know where i went?!?).... MGS/splinter cell did it better. The environments are OK, but I was hopeing this would be one of the titles to make a return to the PC visually more compelling then my HD-TV..yeah its really not.....crysis did it better (and in fact I think crysis 2 did the multi-methods of play better too)
EDIT FOR CLARIFICATION (and after further play): its fun, I was hopeing for a next-next gen experience and just had too high expectations. _________________

^ In a way i was thankful for that. There was a bit where I was trying hack a panel to finish the mission for Malik but there was a security guy right behind me so it set off a fight. I ended up taking down 10+ security guys and walked out and no one was none the wiser.
So yes, in terms of having a 'real' world its hardly realistic, but it sure made my game life a lot easier.
Also has anyone found out what the 29th August news announcement was? The message has changed over to a string of numbers/letters. Some have thought maybe it represents an md5 hash and others have tried adding it to the end of the deus ex website to no avail. _________________

I felt underwhelmed at the start too but the further I got in I became hooked. I'm roughly halfway in and am totally digging this game. I find the Typhoon to be a great ice breaker with people. _________________

I've been looking around and no one seems to have cracked it yet. My first thought was base64 encoding, but it's not valid

Second line looks like some sort of substitution to me.
I expect the answer to be posted on the official forum once someone finds out what it means. _________________

I've been trying to go for the Pacifist and Foxiest of Hounds achievements. Being fully stealth without killing anyone is a great challenge. In some ways I think the stealth approach is the most appropriate way to play... need some patience though. _________________

Looks like people are completely stumped with the Deus Ex code, too busy posting wish lists rather than working the damn thing out.
I'm leaning towards a substitution too, though I'm far too stupid to work it out by myself. _________________

Bought it today. Very early thoughts: Some seriously old school design here. I don't mean it as a compliment. That said, it's way too goddamn early in the game for me to pass judgement.

Finished it while my internet was down. Serious contender for GOTY, all things considered. As an FPS, it's one of the best I've played, and as an RPG, it's sublime.
This makes my inner cyberpunk fanboy very very happy. _________________

Riddle solved? I still don't get what the announcement is though.
Anyone else getting ticked off at the hacking minigame?
It doesn't feel skill based, just pure random chance. Unlucky enough to trigger security on the first node? Too bad, wait 30 seconds or quickload. I'd much rather I have a direct effect on avoiding the trigger or trace somehow... _________________

Use nukes/worms, and fortify your nodes if you're in trouble. Keep in mind you can hack and fortify as many nodes as you want at once.
I like the blend of chance and skill. _________________

Not once did I feel challenged by the hacking minigame, though the bigger ones were annoying. Also, if you put points into fortify and stealth, it becomes even easier

What? Wow. Did not know that. That's going to make grabbing the bonus nodes slightly easier. _________________

Yeah, the tutorials do a...questionable job of explaining the ins and outs. Like Mike said, the hacking game is quite easy, especially if you dump points into lowering your detection rate. Plus, by the end of the game, you'll have built up a pretty nice stockpile of nukes/worms which just make hacking all the more easy.
Speaking of, press space to activate a stop worm instantly (if you're on PC). Also, you dont always need to capture the end node. You can actually capture the security system which, as far as I'm aware, reaps the reward of all the shop contents as well. _________________

This is one of my big problems. Video tutorials? Seriously? I know the original game was from the '90s, but you don't need to ignore all we've learned about tutorial design since then.
My other bugaboo, weirdly enough, are doors. The doors are frequently the same colour as the wall, making them very difficult to identify from a distance. That's a major issue in a stealth game, where identifying your exit point is the whole game.
My third problem is that honestly, I don't get the feeling this game will work as a shooter. It seems designed around stealth playthroughs.
That said, I'm enjoying it more after the rough start.

You are literally the first person on the entire internet I've seen who has had a problem identifying the doors. _________________

The very first thing I did when I launched the game was go into the options. There is a Gameplay option to highlight all interactable objects.
I turned this on because I wanted to steal everything that wasn't nailed down. It also helps with identifying doors.
Hacking is so pathetically easy once you have Hacking: Stealth aug maxed out. Was the first thing I got in tandem with Increased Hacking level. More XP for me.
Fought the first boss the other night, my god it took some time for me to figure out since I get shredded if I even so much poke a finger out (playing on Give Me Deus Ex difficulty). Even worse is my character is a dedicated takedown/incap type until I found out the tricks of the battle.

I turned that highlight option on too. I was wondering why nothing highlighted like in ALL the trailers and pre-release videos. Without it some items are really small and well-hidden, meaning the only way to know you can interact with them is by the "E to use" prompt which is just silly. _________________

I went straight for the social augmentation. I do not care if it's this game's swimming skill: I have a standing policy of going for the conversation buff as my first option in any RPG and I damn well don't intend to stop now. (Seriously. KOTOR? Persuade. Mass Effect? Persuade. Dragon Age? Coercion. It's a wonder I ever managed to play Jade Empire, since without a conversation buff I had no clue where to begin putting points.)
