cause i'm somehow in gold despite being in bronze the last time i played. the match that got me into gold wasn't even close either, i lost pretty quickly. i mean sure, i could take that as i somehow got a lot better after not playing in months but i kinda doubt it lol. _________________

Ah right I get ya. I'm still in platinum for 1v1
I remember why I stopped playing so many 1v1s now... Feel so shattered after playing just one game. I won btw _________________

Truck yeah mother duckers, I'll finally have a reason to go to the manabar
Sure it's only the SEA invitational, but I'm hoping this means that one day they'll maybe have GLS Barcraft too.
EDIT: Just read their facebook, if the turnout is good they will do more. _________________

So, patch 1.4.0 is out today, here are the unit changes:
Balance
General
*Unit vision up ramps has been reduced by 1.
PROTOSS
Immortal
*Attack range increased from 5 to 6.
Mothership
*Acceleration increased from 0.3 to 1.375.
*The Mothership's Cloaking Field no longer cloaks all units instantaneously, but rather adds units to the cloak field over time (maximum of 25 per second). This should alleviate "Mothership Lag" issue when a Mothership comes online.
Stalker
*Blink research time increased from 110 to 140.
Warp Prism
*Shields increased from 40 to 100.
TERRAN
Barracks
*Build time increased from 60 to 65.
Hellion
*Infernal Pre-Igniter damage upgrade decreased from 10 to 5.
Raven
*Seeker missile movement speed increased from 2.5 to 2.953.
ZERG
Infestor
*Fungal Growth damage changed from 36 (+30% armored) to 30 (40 vs Armored).
*Neural Parasite range decreased from 9 to 7.
Overseer
*Morph cost decreased from 50/100 to 50/50.
*Contaminate energy cost increased from 75 to 125.
Ultralisk
*Build time decreased from 70 to 55.
Happy with the immortal range and stalker blink increase times, also the 50 gas reduction in overseer sounds good.
As for me, still playing those 1v1's. Improved dramatically with zerg and against zerg, but can't win a zVz. Rank 3 silver choosing random all season, hopefully gold isn't too far off again.
So like, uni break and christmas and all that jazz is coming up soon, meaning lots more people have a bit of free time. People's thoughts on trying to do another mini SC2 league? I had lots of fun last time and it would be a shame to never have a successful tourney on the most played RTS in existence.
There was too many matches with the old style, and personally I think a straight up elimination is too quick, so depending on how many people are keen, a 'world cup style' draw sounds perfect. Won't look into it any further until the end of October, when all the footy and uni's are wrapped up.

Ugh so bad at 1v1 these days. Played two games tonight. First I lost to a basic hellion blue flame push - he roasted ALL my drones. Second I couldn't push past a protoss turret wall so he built up a load of stalkers and sentries then just walked out an annihilated everything I had (some lings and infestors)....

Looking good. New units will be awesome. Especially if what I saw was right, and a new version of the lurker is back.

Zerg: Underground charge for ultras?
Protoss: Colossi or immortals create a barrier from rocks?
Terran There's a scene with battlecruisers and vikings, I can't pick any new stuff out of it though
OK 1up does it better
| 1up wrote: | With BlizzCon kicking off today, an onslaught of Blizzard news is on the way. The Opening Ceremony is still a short time away and already we have our first glimpse of something new in the form of several units for StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm.
As you can see in the images here, a poster devoted to each race shows off images, names, and brief details on each new multiplayer unit. A list of all eight follows below:
Zerg:
Viper: Flying unit with support abilities. It can grant detection to units, create a cloud to hinder ranged attacks and abilities, and quickly pull units to safety (friendly) or their doom (enemy).
Swarm Host: This Zerg host can gradually spawn endless waves of attackers while burrowed to overwhelm your enemy.
Terran:
Warhound: This versatile factory unit is great against mechanical ground targets and can dish out area-of-effect anti-air attacks.
Battle Hellion: New transformation mode to gain durability in exchange for slower movement. Great for fighting mixed forces using light troops combined with area-of-effect attacks.
Shredder: Mobile unit that can deploy and create a whirlwind of death around it. Safety protocols auto-disable the attack if other friendly units enter the danger zone.
Protoss:
Replicant: Microscopic robots can fuse themselves to copy a targeted non-massive unit. The replication also auto-enables any specific upgrades of the targeted unit (cloaking, etc.).
Oracle: This flying support unit can scout and disrupt the enemy economy. It can reveal what structures are making and also temporarily disrupt building production and resource harvesting.
Tempest: Powerful capital ship that can dominate the skies with massive area-of-effect attacks against light enemy flyers and a strong beam against ground targets.
Stay tuned for more coverage from BlizzCon -- keep your eyes on our hub for all the latest including any details on a new World of Warcraft expansion, a Diablo III release date, or anything else Blizzard might decide to share. |

Looks like more Terran and Protoss love then Zerg, once again.
Hopefully the swarm host is good.

| Changes from Heart of the Swarm multiplayer panel wrote: | Game Designer David Kim continued with an in-depth appraisal of all three races. Here's an outline of what's new in Heart of the Swarm multiplayer:
Terrans
Issues and weaknesses
Thor is too slow and clumsy
Race has difficulties in handling mass zealots in late game
New units and abilities
New "battle mode" for hellion - transforms like a viking
Battle mode hellion has more hit points, moves more slowly
Shorter, wider arc on flame attack, and stronger
Gives terran a beefy front-line fighter in the late game
Warhound
Smaller, more nimble version of Thor
Effective anti-mech ground weapon to help break siege tank lines
Anti-air attack with splash damage
Shredder
Robot that emits channeled, area of effect damage when immobilized
Damage automatically shuts off when an ally moves into range
Gives terran cheap zone control, but can't be used near main army
Is still very work-in-progress
Thor
Moved to late game, more hit points and damage
Can only have one, like mothership from Wings of Liberty
Zerg
Issues and weaknesses
Mid-game difficulties with siege and controlling areas
Missed opportunities with certain units like ultralisk and corruptor
New units and abilities
Ultralisk
Existing version is bulky and has difficulties engaging in battle
New burrow charge ability lets it dive underground and get into the fight easily
Viper
New caster unit with detection -- replaces overseer
Has abilities like blinding cloud to help break entrenched positions
Abduct ability allows it to pull units to itself -- pull siege tanks or colossus out of death balls
Swarm host
Zerg artillery for map control and siege
Burrows into the ground, and continuously generates small creatures to attack
Feels very zerg-y
Protoss
Issues and weaknesses
Needs more raiding options
Needs area of effect, anti-air attacks
New units and abilities
Tempest
New protoss capital ship, replaces carrier
Anti-air splash damage for mutalisks and other aircraft
Has direct air-to-ground attack as well that isn't splash
Replicant
Special unit that can clone itself into any non-massive unit
Allows protoss to also take siege tanks or infestors from enemies
Is very expensive
Still very much a work-in-progress, not-final unit
Oracle
Caster unit used for raiding and harassment
Can disable enemy structures, or prevent miningwith its abilities
Doesn't actually kill or damage anything
Mothership is cut in favor of this unit
There were some other adjustments and additions in multiplayer Heart of the Swarm. Some of the more interesting changes include the reaper gaining the ability to quickly regenerate health when out of combat, though its building attack has been removed. Battlecruisers will also get a new cooldown-based ability for a speed boost.
On the zerg side, banelings will be able to move while underground, through a late-game upgrade, while hydralisks will get a speed upgrade for off-creep movement. Corruptors will also have a new channeled ability called siphon. Siphoned buildings take damage over time, while the zerg player gains minerals as the building is being damaged.
Finally for the protoss, two new abilities have been added to the nexus. One is a mass recall, allowing protoss players to quickly return armies home, while the other is a defensive ability that temporarily gives any structure additional shield and building armor, as well as a weapon similar to a photon cannon.
Before taking questions, the StarCraft II developers reminded everyone that everything is still very much work in progress and subject to change. |
