Anyone other than Benno and myself pick one of these up? I've been playing around with it all arvo (mostly Angry Birds, so much better on a big screen) and I am definitely glad I went and picked it up.
WebOS, while it obviously has many teething problems, is (surprisingly to me) a great OS. The multi-tasking is brilliant, the cards system is so smooth and intuitive and it is very clean and easy on the eye. The email app is great, Skype integration works wonderfully as well. QuickOffice is as always handy.
Onto the cons... App store is pretty terrible (wasn't expecting much more). No paid apps available in Australia yet either (according to a HP rep on Twitter that should be coming later this week). Very much hoping for a Youtube app as well, at the moment the icon just links you to the desktop version of the site which is slow and clunky.
My Wi-Fi connection also seems quite slow on the device, trying to stream a 1 minute, 15mb file from my computer caused it to continually buffer to the point where I just gave up it took that long (perhaps it was just the software being used).
Other than that though it seems to have everything I need.
There is talk of an Android port being made for the system, to be honest I just hope there's an active community out there (well there should be now...) who will just continually improve WebOS because it really does have a lot of potential.
Just a quick write-up for now. If you have any questions or anything to add fire away. _________________

I've asked my parents to bring me one home from America if they can find anywhere with stock left. If those teams working on Android ports can achieve something stable then I'll be happy, if not I mainly want a couch surfing device so as long as the browser works I'll be happy for it to stay on webOS.
Shame Harvey Norman pulled it so quickly following HP's announcement last week, would have been nice to at least experience the OS to judge it first hand. _________________

I've spent pretty much the last 24 hours trying to get one from anywhere, only to have all my orders "unable to process"/cancelled/etc. Didn't know about the HN deal until it was way too late _________________

My housemate and missus got one as well, totally worth it, has been running fine and dandy. It does take a while to start up and start up apps, mine also has a problem with its vibrating thing, instead of humming when it vibrates, mine groans... At least it has a 12 month warranty! _________________

Surely HP will aim to keep the platform open to the user base somehow, otherwise many people will be pissed off I imagine.

Picked up mine last week, got preware installed and a few tweaks, now OCing it to 1.5GHz.
Unfortunately, due to work and other commitments, haven't been able to test it out as much as I would've wanted to.

At a bit of a crossroads at the moment with my Touchpad. Been playing around with it and sure, it has some cool features and everything.... but nothing that I really can't already do on my phone (Desire, which I realised before I purchased but hey, it was cheap). If I can't do something on my phone I've got a very decent/portable 13" laptop to do everything and much more.
So yeah the whole experience has me wondering why iPads are so popular among iPhone users.. but then I remember.
Not just the TouchPad I'm not sure about, it's the whole tablet phenomenon from my point of view.
The selling price on Ebay is very tempting and getting Kindles in at work has made me seriously consider going down that road as they are very nice machines and my whole family would make use of it as well.
Eh, now I feel bad for the people desperately trying to get one and feel like an ungrateful douche for considering selling it after getting it at such an awesome price. _________________

If you're interested in selling it privately, I have a friend who wanted one and couldn't get one who would probably be interested - not at eBay prices though so if you wanted profits you'd be better off there _________________

Hey, question for you people who already have your TouchPads - can you switch to the US store and buy apps from there? _________________

You have to choose your region when you start it up, after that you can't change it. I've heard choosing another region would require a credit card from that region too. _________________

Okay, cool, thanks Whirlpool thread says some apps (like Kindle) are region-restricted, looks like I'm going the US route. I can't really see potential Australia-specific apps being that useful, eg. public transport apps aren't going to be so useful if there's no 3G. _________________

TouchPad should still receive updates.
Should a version of Android be made for the device I'll be dual booting it; that is if it's a tablet version like honeycomb or preferably ice cream sandwich, not the gingerbread ones that are in development. _________________

So, I got my Touchpad yesterday and have been playing with it ever since (goodbye, productivity at work!). I've downloaded a lot of the free apps, any paid app recommendations? I grabbed the Kalemsoft media player, and I want to get Glimpse as I've heard it's super awesome but it's also gone up to $10 so I'm thinking I'll wait a bit and hope for a sale. _________________

I was planning on getting HP Touchpad originally, but when I came across with Samsung Galaxy Tab 7-inch, I fell in love with it.
