Above average but nothing terribly special so far. They've done a great job of creating a history for the game world, but the plot feels pretty standard, typical conspiracy jargon. I've seen worse.
Unless it improves dramatically, I think it's going to be remembered more for its gameplay (which just keeps getting better). _________________

Not quite as balls-to-the-walls stupid as Deus Ex, but in the same realm. Like Cian pointed out, lots of crazy conspiracy nonsense. But thats Deus Ex vor you . _________________

Yeah Deus Ex is very conspiracy theory-ish. Kinda crazy.
You play for gameplay/art/music mostly, but the story does a good job of being engaging. _________________

They deliberately went with a prequel for HR so they could have a relatively self contained story that wouldn't alienate people who never played the original, but they've also done a really fantastic job of keeping true to the canon. There are a lot of connections to the original, and references to characters. You can see how things play out in the universe lore, as detailed by the Deus Ex bible.
But its still conspiracy lunacy at the core. I mean, its called deus ex, there has to be conspiracies. _________________

im enjoying it so far, music is awesome, game world is very blade runnerish. Graphics arnt too bad but i think the biggest weakness is some of the character models which look very bland.
did i mention the music? i did, well its so awesome that it needs to be mentioned again. _________________

Is there a way to tell other than checking every single organic body in the game if you've killed someone or not? Such as a kill counter or some stat tracking? Currently playing on the Deus Ex difficulty with a pacifist/non lethal build and I've noticed quite a few times incapacitated bodies tend to ragdoll into various hazards.
I know I've been careful and saving incrementally, but some sort of stat page would of been helpful for those trying such a run.
Anyone figured out how to disable the multitude of logos that come up when starting the game? The Borderlands ones were bad enough.

Nope. Kind of annoying, as some kind of stat keeping system would be handy for a pacifist run.
I hope you didnt kill anybody in the prologue . _________________

I checked the achievements before I started the game and made sure to be on the safe side that there were no deaths at the prologue. The prologue is the perfect training ground for stealth anyway, with multitudes of chest high walls to scamper and roll around in.
Such a jarring position to be in coming straight out of Fallout New Vegas where I tend to steal everything that isn't nailed down to this Resident Evil syndrome of discarding precious ammo. Like I care, double takedowns to cloak is too much fun.

Did anyone else follow Pritchards advice and get the chip upgrade as well? Made fighting Namir such a freaking pain. Although, it was all the more satisfying owning him despite having flickering vision and no access to the augments.
Apparently emails had certain hints to the fact that the chip was bad I didnt notice anything about it.
And I skipped the credits. FU.

i like the idea of the pacifist run, but tbh i find myself judging certain groups far harsher than others, to the point i want to kill soldiers of certain allegiances.
I doubt i would've got the pacifist run once i'd kinda got the hang of things anyway - i noticed later on that headshots from the tranq guns actually kill the enemies, which kinda went against my Metal Gear Solid training in such weapons. _________________

@Zhou: I think the game does a fairly good job of spelling out that choice as a bad idea, if you're following the lore.
I stuffed up the prologue mission, but I've still been doing a pacifist run. I have no idea why, but the personal challenge is quite satisfying (oh, thats why). Its not too hard either. Tranq gun is good fun to use, and I really enjoy using non-lethal takedowns with silent sprint/jump. Im like a ninja. _________________

FWIW, I haven't gotten it yet. (Thursday, probably.) All I want to say is: I have officially lost ALL game predicting cred now. Seriously, if you'd asked me, I'd have said this game was gonna suck for months. All the trailers made the game seem horribly generic and dull. The mechanics seems wishy-washy to me. And instead, it's apparently awesome. Who knew, huh?

Well I didn't listen to any reviews or see any trailers other than the Purity First one (which was damn good).
My decision for buying Human Revolution was based on 2 things:
1. I liked the first Deus Ex.
2.

hmmm.... i guess it's something else killing them then... i just i assumed it was the tranq dart in the eye.
i wonder if that counts as me killing them, or not?
not that it matters - i'm definitely not going for a pacifist run this run - some factions are just deserve death too much. (grats on both those btw)

honestly, i was very ready for the game to not be very good, but being a DX game, i couldn't not get it. _________________
