Finished Catherine last night, really good game in the end. I'll start cleaning up some of the trophies and then make the call as to whether I should go for the plat... _________________

I finished Catherine last night. It was just as awesome as I expected it to be. I got Katherine's ending. I found the ending to be a lot easier than previous enemies. Well, really only Doom's Bride. I think I struggled with her more than any other one. _________________

Finished Bad Company 2 today. Finished it once or twice on the PS3, but I thought I may as well finish my 360 version. And then I decided to play MW2 from start to finish in one sitting, so I did that. Only took 4-4.5 hours, kinda short. Don't really want to go to bed now, definitely in a gaming mood for once. One thing I will say though, playing both BC2 and MW2 made me wonder how they'd play maxed on a PC, definitely looking forward to being able to do that

Portal 2 (PC)... simply amazing experience!
Probably my favourite puzzle game ever was Kurishi on PS1.
But now we have the most brilliant puzzle game ever, with an actual story, great acting, hilarious moments (Stephen Merchant is a legend!), great variety, perfect length.
It's mind blowing that a puzzle game can be such a huge experience in my list of greatest games ever, but Portal 2 is right there. _________________ My YouTube game videos!

Well I ended up getting to about 85% sync with AC: Brotherhood last night and ended up just deciding to finish the last of the story missions I had left, it was still an amazing game but after going though probably 25/30 hours of gameplay I felt I have done enough. Very awesome game, and glad I got it finished before Revelations is out. Now this means I can go through some of the other games that have been taking up my back catalogue before the influx of massive games at the end of the year. _________________

Just finished Dungeon Siege III (PS3)
An enjoyable RPG in the vein of Diablo that has been heavily catered towards console play.
Pros: The story isn’t quite the tale of good vs evil, there’s a bit of ambiguity to it. The decisions you make throughout the course of the story affect what happens at the end, and it was nice to see that my decisions carried some weight. Jeyne Kassynder, the main antagonist of the game, is a great female villain. Story reminded me of Star Wars a bit, or maybe it’s just me, since I compare everything to Star Wars.
Gameplay is definitely the highlight of the game. It isn’t just “mash X” repeatedly to get through the game, you have 9 abilities to utilize, and they’re all pretty unique and fun to use. The challenge is figuring out which abilities are the most effective in any given situation. Naturally, the boss fights are the most challenging part of the game. I played the game on Hardcore difficulty, and I died a lot during some of the boss fights. I was using Katarina, who is best at one-on-one, and the boss fights I had the most difficulty with were the ones where lesser enemies would continually respawn during the boss fight, often overwhelming the character. Once you figure out the pattern of the boss fight and get in the groove, it becomes much more manageable.
Cons: The game never really shifts gears until the end. The story was ok, but it isn’t the most exciting narrative I’ve come across. Voice acting was a bit hit and miss. Odo (the narrator) and Marten (otherwise known as Kazuhira Miller ), your Legion buddies, were ok. Lucas Montbarron was suitably British. On the other hand, Katarina tries to be Russian I think, but doesn’t quite pull it off. I was expecting a no-nonsense woman with a steely resolve, but her character doesn’t quite gel with the voice. Reinhart was a bit of a surprise as well. In place of what I thought would be an old, battle-hardened mage was someone more like an eccentric old professor. Sometimes the voice acting descended to levels of parody, but I think that’s part of the charm of the game. It doesn’t take itself too seriously.
Game is linear as hell, and what’s amusing is if you press up on the D-pad, glowing bread crumbs are laid out for you to the next quest marker. Don’t know why that was needed, the world is small enough as it is and you can’t really get lost.
But my biggest grip was with the inventory/equipment system. I don’t know if they ran out of time or couldn’t be arsed or thought a more complex system would be too complicated for the console players, but it seemed really simple and dumbed down. There are no consumable items of any kind, so no healing potions or whatever, which I thought would be a staple of games like this. Consumable items could’ve easily been mapped to the D-pad, since it’s not used for anything useful.
The equipment and weapons system follows the naming conventions of Diablo, so the longer the name, the better your equipment will be, in most cases. I would’ve liked a way to modify the equipment or make your own, since the equipment you get is really luck of the draw. Getting and sifting through loot is part of the experience of games like this, I get that. But I would’ve liked a way to cater the equipment to your character’s strength and the way you play. With 10 odd primary stats, and another 10 or so secondary stats, you can’t really max out the stats you want to without getting decent loot. And some of the stats do seem superfluous. Often, if I was at a save point that had a treasure chest or store nearby, I would quit and reload the game until I received some decent equipment.
This game doesn’t really set out to do anything new, but it was enjoyable way to pass 15-20 hours. I’d say there’s replay value with the 4 different characters, but since you’ll be doing pretty much the same quests again, in the same order, with the same scenery, it’s not something I’m gonna run through again anytime soon. If you can pick this up on the cheap, I think it’d be worth it.
6 phat loots out of 10.

Just finished Radiant Historia
If there's a jrpg on the DS anyone should play, it's this. Probably my favorite game on the DS, just beating SMT:Strange Journey.
The story involves some political intrigue between 2 nations etc and you, the main character (Stocke) travels between two timelines (think Chrono Cross) to change past events that will effect the future in order to proceed (think Chrono Trigger). Characters are fun and development is very interesting. It may sound cliche, but it's actually very well done. Story never ever actually slows down.
Game-play is a turn-based battle system which incorporates a kind of 3x3 enemy grid where you can move around your enemies into one spot and deal heavy damage with one major attack. Quite fun. Music is awesome (Yoko Shimomura composed for this game).
I just thought I'd give this little game a shout out cause it's a great game and needs to be played by more people! If it sounds like your kind of game, please to try and buy it!

Age of Zombies - PSMini (PSP)
I was surprised how much I enjoyed this little game, its the basic SmashTV style controls that seems to be emulated all over the Iphone (Which the game is also available for), however there was enough change of location and weapons to really enjoy this.
I am going away for the weekend so the idea was to have something new and small to play on the drive, well I have not left yet and I all ready finished it, should say something about the game.

Finished Black Ops on hardened. I personally think Modern Warfare 2 was more epic, and therefore more memorable, but Black Ops definitely has the best story. I don't think I've played through a CoD game to see what happens next, but this was the first. I guess it doesn't do much new, but it's definitely pretty good.

I finished Catherine a couple nights ago. Can I just say that WOW, this game is brilliant. Fantastic story (I got one of the cheater endings), brilliant puzzles that had me really thinking, and just all around brilliant game. Really loved the cutscenes, the bosses were superbly designed (and suitably freaky looking) and the game was always throwing fresh challenges at you. If there wasn't some new kind of block, there was some new box pulling pattern you not only had to learn, but master pretty quickly if you wanted to get up the tower.
I was a bit worried it would be a bit sleazy, but everything was done pretty tastefully considering the content of the story.
There is also a lot of playable content here, the game seems to be very replayable (multiple endings!). I've hardly touched "Rapunzel" and I haven't even unlocked the challenge tower yet. You need to gold one of the levels (More to unlock the higher levels of it), and I got bronze on all but one, on which I got silver.
Also, I "finished" DiRT 3, but can you ever truly finish a racing game? My definition of "finished" here is that I saw the credits roll. I've still got extra challenges and stuff to do, and to try and win the events I haven't managed to win yet (I refuse to lower the difficulty just for this purpose). Game is a decent distraction, but man, you really need to concentrate or you'll find yourself flying of the track and into a tree/sign/fence (especially with all the assists turned off, like I do). This is not one to play when you're exhausted at the end of the day.
As a side note, Gymkhana looks cool, but man, it's hard. I'm terrible at this part of the game.

Last Friday I finished.... The Witcher (PC)!
Statistics said (courtesy of Raptr) I played 56 hours and I have played it on Easy. Funny enough I only paid attention when I discovered the game on sale for $8 in EB Games and that $8 was well worth it.
I love the game. It has a solid story telling that makes me want to go buy the novels. The game plays with my mind at time. It made me curious as to the consequences of my action, especially when politics is involved and what were the outcome of my involvement. I then decided to play as I want to play it not letting the game get to me. I went Neutral, be a kind-hearted Witcher with Triss as the love interest. The game warns me from going Neutral and I'm like stuff you, I'm going Neutral!. I have weapons and armours that I am looking forward to importing into Witcher 2.
The problem with this game was I had experience crashes now and then, similar amount to playing Mass Effect 1 on the 360 so I don't have the best of luck in that department so I am quite tolerant in the crashing department. I haven't installed any patches so that could be part of the reason. This game is quite buggy and F5 key became my best friend in this game. Combat system was quite poor, at times I accidentally attacked allies. Some vital information like Alchemy should have been better covered in the tutorial of the game, since making the right potion/oils can assist in winning a difficult battle.
Even though I chose Easy for this game, it is by no means a walk in the park. I died many times with lack of preparation before a major fight or when choosing the wrong combination of swords and fighting style.
In summary, apart from cons, this is definitely amongst my favourite RPG games of all time in terms. I finished the game being satisfied and happy _________________ "Work hard now, play even harder later"

Finished* Sonic 2 from the Mega Drive Collection, asterisk required because I used save states :/ I had this game when I was a kid, got as far as Oil Ocean, so it's good to finally beat it, even if I had to reload countless times from the Metropolis Zone onwards. Games were hard back then... _________________

Finished Darksiders last night.
Easily the best $15 game i've ever purchased. It's a mix of zelda puzzles and gameplay with god of war like combat - makes for a thoroughly enjoyable game. Also i'd never though i'd say this about any game but the voice acting was a real highlight for me. The guy that does WAR's voice (the main character) is awesome and really give him a badass feel. I actually found myself watching and enjoying all the cutscenes - the story is good so this also helped.
My only gripe is that one of the trophys glitched on me preventing me from plating the game - apparently this happens a fair bit for different trophys for different people.
Otherwise i highly recommend if you haven't played it yet, plus it's bargain price everywhere.

Recently finished VVVVVV and Bulletstorm.
Loved them both but for different reasons. VVVVVV is such a simple idea executed very, very well. When I first started it I thought it would be one of those try-for-ten-minutes-and-move-on games. But for some reason I got really hooked on it. The character response is great, there are some laughs and (best of all) a suprising number and variety of levels. I highly recommend it for anyone into platformers or happy electro music.
Bulletstorm was simply excellent action. It has a story, some characters, there is a plot which develops at a good pace as your progress through the game. There is also some great design, graphics and levels. However all of that is fairly irrelevant as you'll be spending most of your time kicking mutants into cacti and shooting dudes up the butt (which gives you the acheivement "fire in the hole"). _________________ Da Bessssss

I got all of the artifacts eventually, even the Veni Vidi Vici one, but only fourteen before I 'finished' the game. You can find my complaints about it in this thread if you go back far enough. Took me many hours to beat that one =P

Last night I finished Hyperdimension Neptunia. I am so glad I picked this up. At first I didn't really want to as everyone I knew was saying it was awful. Though it was 2 for $40 so I picked it up.
I loved it. I had no problem with the combat system or the same dungeons constantly. I think the characters and the dialogue more than made up for that.
All in all, what an underrated game! _________________

I liked it, but in the end I consider it to be an inferior version of Trinity Universe. The game is pretty much Trinity Universe, but without all of the familiar characters and items. Those things are what really made TU for me, so I couldn't help but feel like something was missing when it came to playing Neptunia. _________________

Lately I've finished two games on my PC.
Back To The Future Parts 1 - 5
I just watched the trilogy for the first time in years and so I thought I'd give the game a try. I loved it, one of the best games I've played in awhile, so faithful to the original and great to see the original cast coming and making it so authentic! I liked how it was kinda tricky, but not frustrating at the same time.
I really hope they make a sequel, one where we get to go into the future maybe.
I also beat
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II
Not very good, way too short for my liking and the PC version is so glitchy. The first hour or so was cool and then it just went downhill from there. Endings were average too. I had the same impression with the first game too. The third one better be amazing or I'm probably gonna have to give it a miss. _________________

Force Unleashed series has been canned luketheman.
Just finished Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Had such a fun time with it. Not exactly the greatest thing ever, but it's certainly worth the money. Fantastic stealth mechanics and music. Jensen is a god. It has been very hard to get a lot of gaming time after moving into full time work so I'm glad this game ended up being as rewarding as it did. _________________

Finished off Shadows of the Damned
Not since Bayonetta have I had such a blast playing a modern video game. Now that I think about it, both games have quite a lot in common!
The relentless pacing, the old school hardcore shooting action, the massive boss battles, the offbeat and crude sense of humour, the dialogue delivery....everything just reeked of awesome. Game had so much style and personality, it was disgusting, hilarious, ironic and stupid...all at the same time.
Never have I not wanted a game to end, I really wanted more, but what was there...I enjoyed immensely...and I was grinning at every single moment of the game.
Absolutely fantastic.
Now on to No More Heroes Paradise! _________________
