Oh my console is Japanese, but it's designed to work in Asian regions with 220-240v, it's still NTSC-J but they call it an "Asian" console due to the power supply difference .

So I could use a local power supply, problem is they don't sell in stores and so I'll probably have to go Ebay.

Well if you really want, I'll just send you one of my power supplies? I've got three sitting here. Just pay post, you're WWE posts more than make up for any cost I could place on it. Swing us a PM.

I'm in a similar situation. My 3rd Xbox 360 died last night after not being used for nearly 3 months. That means I have 3 white paperweights sitting here, all with 3 red lights, all out of warranty, so I'm done with 360 gaming.

Refuse to buy another one as they're bundled with kinect which I have no use for and I won't be able to use my launch 20gb hard drive on the newer consoles. Add 360 game support on Windows 8 into the mix and I see no point in buying another.

Probably against the rules., but if any PALGNer has an old 360 unit they're willing to sell barebones (just the console, no hard drives or cables) for a reasonable price, please PM me.

Yep, was aware of that. I'm more interested in fnding out if there's anywhere local to me (melbourne) that would sell them, as I'd like to pick one up tonight if possible. Otherwise, yeah, I've found places online to order from.

I have one for a friend that broke their lite and can't afford to replace it, but it doesn't have a charger. Would like to present them with it tonight, but it's a bit naff without a charger, so yeah.

Thanks though!

Might be a bit late now, but I was looking for a DSi charger last week and I saw a couple that had heads for GBA SP/DS Phat as well as DSi and DS Lite. I think EB had them.

What's the cheapest way to host a reliable 20-24-ish slot TF2 server (doesn't have to be 24/7, just on weekends and weeeknights)?

Cheap headphones anyone?

Want to spend about $20. Want long lasting, and good quality in-ears.

At least, longer than the TDK's you get from JB or the ____ available at a BigW

I used Sony ones that cost a tiny bit more than $20 but for me they last a while and apparently Sony cheap ones are decent (I think you can get Seinheisser ones but not sure if their cheap ranges is just as good, there's also Skullcandy ones but that's paying more than $20 as well). Never used TDK so I can't really compare them :S

Edit - my comment assume in-ear as in those that isn't in ear canals but earbuds since they are also "in-ear".

Do you have a 360 to PC adapter? You will need that for the wireless controller. I'm not too sure as I do find controller handy for some game that feels more like a console game (like Batman : Arkham Assylum) but most of the time I play with a keyboard/mouse because I can't imagine (if they do support it officially) playing with a controller for many RPG/FPS/Strategy/etc titles.

^Pretty much what Tina said. I only use a controller for racing games, GTA (because of the lock on), platformers and 'twin stick' style shooterish games (Like Geo Wars and Bastion).

At first keyboard will be a harder for FPS if it's not what you're used to, but I recommend learning to adapt or you'll be at a severe disadvantage in any online match.

Thanks Island_wolf and Puddingfork, going from what you guys said i'll stick to the mouse and keyboard, you're probable right i just need to get used to it, its been over a decade since i used a PC for games

Puddingfork wrote:

That is the controller im looking to get, I wont be playing any FPS games, i'll mostly be playing assassins creed, F1 and a few other racing games and mafia II style games, maybe the only shooter i'll give a go is Duke Nukem but that will just be for nostalgia sake, i cant imagine playing it from start to finish as im really bad at shooters

New Question 1:
Can anyone recommend a few good strategy games for PC similar to Pharaoh and the Caesar series, im looking to get Civilization V but is there anything else at as good or better? Back in the day i was obsessed with pharaoh that was the last PC game i played that i enjoyed

New Question 2:
I just set up a steam account, is that the best/cheapest site to get games from, i actually like this idea of having a downloaded copy of a game rather then a physical copy, does it work out better value doing it like that?

Ass Creed and racing games might be a little better with a controller (racing is a little subjective and if you really cared that much you'd get a wheel anyway).

#1: Shogun 2? Haven't tried it myself but Denny raves about it

#2: Steam is a great place to get things on sale, or for US price (if the publishers ain't pricks). I recommend saving some money up for the steam Christmas sale because there's always a heap of awesome deals then, since you're new to PC gaming you could probably buy enough games to last until next Christmas haha. Usually things are discounted from 50-80% off sometimes even up to 90% and the package deals are great value.

Other good sites are www.ozgameshop.com, www.zavvi.com, www.thehut.com and www.greenmangaming.com

Pharaoh!!!, I LOVED THAT GAME <3 . Unfortunately, nothing recent (I did enjoy Emperor but not sure if it can be played on Win 7) for the historical themed city building games. How familiar are you with Sim City? Could look out for Cities XL 2011 which is always on sale here and there. But it won't be the same icon_sad.gif

Not sure what's your preference for strategy are but there are the Total War series which is historically themed, a mix of turn-based map-based (with some city management) and real-time battles (or getting the AI to auto-battle for you). You can't go wrong with any so if you aren't fussy about graphics (like me!), you can get the older titles in the game like Rome or Napoleon/Medieval 2 etc (not Shogun 1 though if you can still get it, it's too dated).

Civilization is another turned-based map-based strategy game, similar to the Total War without the historical theme to it.

I suggest getting either Civ or Total War to play to see if you like the turn-based strategy before buying more of them.

Have you looked at Anno 1404? I found it fairly good and challenging as a city builder.

I don't think so Shadow, I think you might have a month or so to try your luck. I recall with one of my christmas jobs that I did like an interview in september and started working mostly in late october. It depends on the place though cause as you know some places might not exactly be so organised lol

Oh man, welcome to the ****storm. I was there a year or so ago, I cannot believe they make you go to that amount of trouble just to stop automatic renewal.

If it helps, tell them something like you were using someone elses credit card and are just planning to purchase the 12-month cards from the shops instead. Or you can say something like you got a new xbox and want to start up a fresh account or something XD (I gotta admit I don't like lying, but sometimes the world is just an easier place to be in if you do icon_razz.gif)

What the **** Microsoft!!!!

First this power brick business and now this!!

Do you mean to say that they can choose NOT to turn off Auto Renewal?

Woops, didn't mean to make it sound like they are tough to turn it off. Maybe if you just ask them to cancel auto-renewal they might. It's just I read around a bit online before I did and some people had trouble, like dealing with pushy sales people kind of trouble. Maybe they're not like that really, but I didn't want to find out the hard way so I just lied off the bat XD

Still, the trouble of making you call them to cancel the renewal is not really a good sign..

Hope it goes well for you icon_razz.gif

Use both. Some games are designed specifically for the Xbox 360 controller but you'll still want your standard mouse/keyboard for FPS, MMOs and strategy games.

So I'm looking at moving into a place in Brisbane. It's 102kms away by road but in a straight line is only 90kms away. Independance requires me to be 100kms away from home, would I be eligible if I moved here? Tried searching on government websites and it's not really clear.
