Seriously don't have iview under the TV XMB, just MUBI and PlayTV.

no offense to everyone but this gets brought up often enough that id think everyone should take note of the url and fav it in the PS3 browser as its exactly the same bar a short cut. _________________

You mean open the browser on the PS3, go to the ABC iView website and watch it from there? Cool, didn't know that worked. _________________

That's why I mentioned 'shortcut' in my original post. _________________

Like multiplayer? at the very rare time when I do play multiplayer on any platform, I can happily say I will be willing to pay if I get the quality of server I see on the PC, 360 or to a lesser extent, the Wii. I can never had a smooth match on the PS3 and is more than sad to not see PS+ can do anything to make the game server any better, or even a pay-for-a-day system and get a better experience on multiplayer for a day. Great example of games include LBP and RDR which is just unbearable to play. If it isn't me dropping/froze for a second out it's my partner that is doing it. |
Microsoft has better voice chat integration but other than I don't see any difference between the two system online wise. I don't really understand why Microsoft charges to play multiplayer when they don't host dedicated servers and everything is done via P2P. They even started locking new demo out to silver members which is beyond a joke. Of course I think PS+ is a rip off as well but at least they haven't incorporated online gaming into it.

Microsoft charge us, but keep it free for developers. Sony keep it free for us, but charge developers bandwidth.
It's one reason why the 360 has gotten more demos and exclusive downloadable titles in the past. _________________

I didn't know that. Very interesting piece of information. This could be one reasom why Sony still has so many more single player exclusives, particularly JRPG's (no bandwidth for devs to pay for), while MS exclusives are more likely to be FPS with an online component, like Halo.

Does that really explain why the single player games are not on Xbox 360? There would be no cost to the developer/publisher apart from porting and releasing it on the platform. Even from the player's point of view, those who enjoy RPGs more than shooters are not required to pay for Live. _________________

Mass Effect before the series went to PC and PS3 (the single player "exclusive" I cared about the most lately)
What Vervain said would explain why the DLC is more costly on the PS3 but then not needing to pay a sub. I haven't been paying a sub on Live for years anyway since I'm a single-player gamer.
I got the PS3 update downloaded and ABC iView was missing (well, even MUBI and Channel 7) under "TV/Video Services" until I went into "My Channel" and did a small download of the ABC iView to get the shortcut to appear. I guess this is okay since I don't use the Channel 7 one and these shortcuts can be deleted as well as reappear. _________________ "Work hard now, play even harder later"

I think it could, indirectly. If you were looking to make a game exclusive to PS3, you might go for a single player game, whereas if you were to put it on 360, you might include multiplayer. Or, if your marketing strategy involved making a game exclusive to one console or the other, reducing your costs by not paying Sony bandwidth could come into consideration. It might alter the target market for each console slightly, given time.
Or, I'm looking for stuff that isn't there, I do that sometimes.

You will need to download it through "TV/Video Services>My Channel"(as in click it and then choose which one you want to download).
Stumbled across this by accident.
Edit - use Pilot's solution if "TV/Video Services" option on the XMB is missing. _________________ "Work hard now, play even harder later"

No probs It was one suggestion I read online to solve the problem and decided to give it a try. I had to go into Home twice to make it work though. _________________

I have the TV/Video Services area, but the only thing under that menu, is PlayTV - no My Channels or anything like that.
I tried logging into Home, and after 12 updates (shows how useless i find the feature) and about half an hour waiting in the menu while it thought about sh*t, it finally let me into my stupid fake apartment, and i ran around for a little bit, logged out, and nothing.
checked the store too, in case they'd been added there, but searching for ABC, and iView, or My Channels, yielded nothing.
so i'm still without the stupid link.
i can get iView through my TV, and can obviously navigate, and bookmark it through the browser, but it always seemed smoother (and easier) through my PS3.
well done Sony, top effort.

well, to be fair on the "12 Updates" thing, that's just because i almost never use Home. if you do, i'm sure it'll be much less.
i mean, i logged in and found out i had a gift from finishing Batman Arkham Asylum, which i did pretty much a week after it released, so i really do rarely use the service.
but yeah, turned it on this afternoon, and there was My Channels.
no idea what caused it to pop up, but it did, and so i've got my links back. _________________

It's been like....5 days since I updated and I still don't have TV in the XMB any more....Is there a sure way to get it back or do I just wait it out? _________________

Anyone had a bug where their avatar doesn't show up at the top next to the time?
I've noticed this twice now since the update. _________________

Mine shows up fine there, though when I select my sprite from my friends list, the sprite is completely scrambled. How very odd. _________________

I should probably add that I noticed that whilst that worked, I ended up losing the TV icon again a few days later. I got it back permanently by loggin into Home, then going back to the XMB (TV had reappeared again) and downloading one of the channels in the TV menu.
Seems to have fixed the problem for good, thankfully. Very strange. _________________
