Persona 4 the animation, looks like it'll be great, I wonder what social links they'll cram in there. Can't wait, also that is such a great song.

I get the feeling my Catherine won't be arriving for a while as ozgameshop is out of stock and my pre-order still says awaiting release date icon_confused.gif I guess that will teach me to pre-order the week before release.
Have fun to ya's who got it/ receiving it.

$76.50 for the standard and $109.00 for the deluxe which included a few extra things, including artbook, disc, shirt, boxers and pillowcase.

Just got my deluxe copy from Dungeon Crawl ^_^ - chibiandy I might've run into you if you picked it up not too long ago after work? I was there around 5:30 - 6:00ish getting a copy... the asian guy in a blue jacket standing at the counter waiting for his copy.

Get it Luke, you know you want to icon_wink.gif.

Alright, I got a chance to settle down and have a good go at Catherine. I thought I'd post my first impressions of the game. I have deliberately left out spoilers so feel free to read if you haven't played the game yet.

Story
I won't say much more other than it's interesting. We already know what happens to Vincent. Suffice to say that it'll be interesting to see how it turns out.

Graphics
Catherine looked uhm, very nice icon_smile.gif. Wait you mean there's other things to look at other than her? >_>

Seriously though the graphics are nice, and I like this style. They aren't your cinema mind-blowing graphics but then again that wasn't the design in the first place.

Sound
Soundtrack is good, voices are alright but sounded real soft in some places (not many). Not sure why that is the case but at times I could barely hear the characters speak. Thank goodness for subtitles.

Gameplay
The difficulty isn't as bad as I first thought. I heard how a super easy difficulty was released which made me very worried about the difficulty of this game. I'm currently playing on normal difficulty and have had difficulties in some parts. Overall I'm ok with the difficulty. They introduce new techniques here and there, which you do have to pick up somewhat quickly to get through some of the stages.

My recommendation - Look before you leap. Moving blocks without knowing what could happen could screw you over real bad causing you to die...and if you are at the appropriate difficulty, select is your best friend - i.e. select allows you to reverse an error you made, and I made quite a few...

I'm not sure whether you can use the joystick but I've only used the pad in the nightmare stages and found the controls alright, except for when you're hanging on blocks as Vincent and he's hiding behind the wall, then the controls seem to get muddled up (or maybe it's just me). Camera could probably be improved as well during these nightmare stages.

One very minor gripe - It felt a little repetitive, climbing night after night but then again I played a few hours tonight so I guess it's expected that I felt some repetition. They do add a bit of variety though to change things up with the wall climbing.

Overall
It's a very enjoyable game for me atm. All I can say to those that are eagerly waiting for Catherine... you won't be disappointed. Atlus have done a very good job with Catherine.

^what are your thoughts on the dating sim aspects of the game?

Actually, what I really wanna know is, is the emphasis of the game more on the puzzle stages or the stroy driven dating stuff?

I'd have to say the emphasis is much more on the puzzle stages based on what I've played so far. More of my time was spent climbing those nightmare stages and trying to figure out what to do next.

That's not to say there isn't a story element going on. With the story though I feel it takes a backseat (if that makes sense) - it's like you watch a show and see what unfolds. Your only real interaction with others are in the Stray Sheep Bar. The story makes you want to find out what happens to Vincent, but in terms of driving the story forward, the game does that on its own accord based on the choices you made. Some of the choices you make throughout the game affect a 'red / blue meter' which to my understanding affects how he handles certain situations in the story and the overall ending you receive. That's about it for the story element. Still, it's a story that manages to do a good job in drawing you into Vincent's world and wondering what will happen to him next.

Well looks like the Xbox 360 version is region locked icon_sad.gif

Since I own a Japanese Xbox 360, I can't play the US version. I can only play the Japanese version...

Well looks like I'm out, unless the PAL version is region free...I can never ever play it icon_sad.gif

I know how that feels. Well better time than any to get a PS3 icon_smile.gif. That title music is so good, I like to leave the game running at the title screen so I can just chill out to it. Any word on what tracks are included in the Juke Box?

A list of the jukebox songs can be found here.

Slight warning if you don't like spoilers - it does show a list of the achievements that you can get in Catherine. Each jukebox tune that you unlock is linked to a particular achievement.

Lots of Persona songs icon_smile.gif I love the music in those games. I've been listening to the soundtrack that came with my Persona 4 game heaps since I've been playing it in the last week.

Was surprised to see a review for Catherine in the back of today's Canberra Times TV guide. Was pretty positive overall and at the end said 'not for everyone, but highly recommended if you're looking for something different'.

What are your impressions of Persona 4 so far? I'm replaying it at the moment because I missed at least 50% of the social links. Only up to 05/03 at the moment. I went with the drama and basketball club this time.

Emo is okay with me. Last time I had Ayane from the music club. She was a little too young for my tastes icon_razz.gif. I'm interested in Sayoko, only got to about rank 2 or 3 because I didn't check the job board till late in the game.

Saw this on Troy Baker's facebook. Seems like they might expand it into a franchise.. I hope they don't overdo it, there's only so much milk you can get from one cow.

200,000 units sold, that's impressive for an Atlus title. It must be one of the biggest selling titles they've ever released.

As much as I like Catherine, I'd much prefer Persona 5.

Wasn't Catherine made kinda like a test demo for Persona 5 graphics wise or something?
Surely with those sales they'd get working on it asap.

I did read something a long time ago that quoted someone from the Persona team saying that Catherine was going to be used as a sort of "lead" into Persona 5. I think they'll be using the same graphics engine.

So, playing SMT: Devil Summoner 2 - Raidou Kuzunoha vs King Abaddon.
Mudo in this game takes away half your HP, and doesn't seem to miss all that often.
Sure, it's no insta-death, but still.
Someone needs to be slapped for making Mudo/Hama the dickest move that ever dicked.

Well, that's not true. Was it Asura in Strange Journey that had that move that Rage move?
All my hate.
