And by horror, I don't mean copious amounts of blood and guts for the sake of it.
I mean honest to goodness freaky shit. Messed up, I can't sleep tonight shit.
I've been on a binge since I watched House of 1000 corpses again (God I love Dr. Satan, he's one creepy ass mofo).
Anyone got any recommendations for me? _________________

Evil Dead. Or if you want a comic slant on horror, Shaun of the Dead. Hard to find films that are genuinely scary, though. Maybe Wolf Creek?

If you can get your hands on it... The spanish film entitled [REC]. There was an american remake called Quarantine, but it's got nothing on the original. _________________ Playing: Fallout: New Vegas

I have that, and the US/Stephen King remake, on DVD, but haven't yet seen either of them. _________________

I keep hearing people whine about the US version and get put off checking it out.
The original is quite fab though. _________________

I actually decided to go looking for my DVDs. i think the originals and actually packed away at the moment, at least i can't find them, but i found the US version pretty much straight away, so giving that a go.
i think you'll be disappointed, if you're recommending it in a horror thread, as this is more comedy than anything.
i am actually enjoying it though, mostly, i think, because i don't have the context of the orginal to sway me (something i lacked when i saw The Departed, which i felt was vastly inferior to Infernal Affairs), but i actually also wonder if the only "inspiration" the US version is taking, is that of a hospital where weird sh*t happens, because there seems to be a lot of content that fits within Stephen King's meta-story - the low men, billy bumblers (i think, anyway), and so on... _________________

thailand and Japan horror flicks are the scariest s*** ever. Shutter and Last Missed Call are some reccomendations. not the gruesome stuff but the haunting that lingers. good luck there

I'd even go as far as to say ignore everything else and check that out first. |
Is that Lars von Trier's 'The Kingdom'? And 'Kingdom Hospital' is Stephen King's remake? If so, I never knew! _________________ Playing: Fallout: New Vegas

the new remake of i spit on your grave is fucked up. some mental scenes in there that will make you squirm.
insidious literally made me scared of the dark. not a fucked up movie or anything, but heaps of jump scares, which scare me more than anything else. _________________ GT: chunged

If you're a fan of shaky-cam films, I watched a good one called Home Movie a while back. Essentially it's about a man who films his family doing every day things... except his children are really quite bizarre. Lots of disturbing things in here.
Also Event Horizon. _________________ Check out my game, Awien Ambush
