So I'm 5 episodes in and I'm starting to really enjoy it, a lot more than I did previously. Glad I stuck with it, and I can't wait to see the final episode everyone seems to like. Though for some reason I just read Capoeira's spoiler, damn my curiosity

So I finished it today, and I quite liked it. I've never hated a character as much as Joffrey, he actually made me angry and want to punch him in the face >_>. Episode 9 was definitely the best, but at the same time, the worst with which what happened.I still don't think it's an amazing show, but a good one, maybe a 7.5/10 overall. Definitely good enough to want to watch season 2 though, looks like it'll turn more "fantasy" and less realistic, which would be good.

Started watching. Two episodes in. Its pretty awesome. The high quality acting and general tone of the show sets it apart from other super cheesy fantasy dramas. I've had a major end-season twist spoiled to me already by some fuck on another forum who forgot to spoil tag, but meh.
Im just hoping it doesnt devolve into bad fantasy tripe with crappy CG. The whole dragon egg thing is the main concern there (no spoilers please). If shitty looking dragons show up I will be dissapoint. _________________

March/April 2012 - It's one of those 2 months, I don't remember exactly. Basically the same month season 1 started.
The link below lists 8 characters which still haven't been cast for season 2 yet, but it also includes news links for the season 2 castings currently known (the guy who played Uther in Merlin is one of them).
http://tvovermind.zap2it.com/cable/hbo/game-of-thrones/8-characters-cast-game-thrones-season-2/84575
Got book 5 yesterday with the season 1 soundtrack cd. Still have to finish book 4 though, despite having it for nearly 5 years.

5 so far. It's not one of those series that doesn't end, there is a distinct planned ending, but I don't think we know exactly how many books that will take. It might be 6 or 7 books.

Just finished watching the season, that was truly amazing. Seriously **** me man, so epic!
| Quote: | [SPOILER]
Can't believe what happened to Ned Stark, incredible but it saddened me so much. At the end of episode 9, they created that final scene masterfully. Like you knew the sword beheaded him, and just because you knew this show is so unpredictable, it was predictable in a sense that you knew that they indeed killed him.
Also along with Ned, I absolutely love Arya, Jon, Tyrrion, Osha, Syrio, Samwell and Sir Jorah.
And man, Syrio better be alive. They weren't specific about it, but he seemed too masterful to be beaten by a clumsy suited knight :O
[SPOILER] |
Oh and also, in regards to LOTR, whilst reading around on the net I found this on wikipedia about Sean Bean;
| Quote: | | Bean's well-known fear of flying caused him difficulties in mountainous New Zealand, where the trilogy was filmed. After a particularly rough ride, he vowed not to fly to a location again. In one instance, he chose to take a ski lift into the mountains and then hike the final few miles, in full costume complete with shield, armour and sword |
I believe the definition of God has been re-written.

I've just watched episode 8 and I'm loving it, though I know there is a massive twist and an even greater cliffhanger coming (typical HBO) which is going to drive me insane. _________________

^ very subtle, but still a tiny bit of a spoiler.
I love the show. The first season seems like just an intro to what is to come in future seasons. _________________

Okay. So I tried to watch this. Amazing spectacle... but the dialogue... Not even the promise of tits could get me through the first episode...
Does the script get any less drab as it progresses?

I didn't really have any problem with the dialogue, though I guess I can see why it might seem drab to some. Unless you're talking about Peter Dinklage's performance and dialogue, in which case there's no hope for you, and may God(s) have mercy on your soul. _________________

I didn't have any problems with the dialogue specifically. The first episode does jump all over the place as it tries to introduce so many characters and doesn't really give a good feel for many of them initially. Things calm down more from the second episode onwards.

Watched the whole thing over the last two nights. Talk about starting slowly and then having you completely hooked by the third or fourth episode. And then throwing in a thousand twists. Now we gotta wait till April 2012, hey? That's not cool. _________________

Or you could just pick up the books right now?
I re-read the first two over the last two weeks (well I've almost finished the second) and really enjoying them, even though it's the third time reading them now. _________________

I've read the books (still having trouble finishing A Feast for Crows), should I watch this or will it ruin the image I have of these great books? _________________ Contributor @ http://www.esperino.com/

Just finished watching the season, pretty damn awesome, can't wait for season 2! Definitely gonna pick up the books now (already bought the first one).
Regarding ep 9...
[SPOILERS]
Ned's execution...this was the one time where I had hoped for a movie/tv cliche moment where something will come along and stop the impending doom of the hero, eg
* Arya runs and climbs onto the podium and makes a stunning speech, Joffrey is moved, and changes his mind.
* Ned does some kung-fu sh**, and escapes just as the sword comes down. He knocks out the guards and grabs the sword, makes a speech about the true nature of the Lannisters. Crowd riots, Ned escapes.
* The queen yells "enough!" and slaps Joffrey, tells the guards to send Ned back to his cell, and make preparations to send him to the Wall.
* Sansa rushes out and pushes Ned out of the way at the last second (gotta be in slow mo, of course), and loses an arm in the process, whole place goes quiet. Ned makes a 'are you happy now??' speech. Joffrey is moved, and tells the Starks to go back to Winterfell and never to return.
...umm yeah...good thing they stuck to the events from the book then.
Anyway, this, and the golden crown, were easily the most memorable scenes for me from the series.

I watched ep 5 today. Seen enough not to care to watch any more. I had a major "that doesn't make any sense" moment, for the sake of drama. Not sure if it's screenplay that's off, or the writing, but ah yeah, pretty much turned it off at that point. _________________ I'd be apathetic, but I can't be arsed.
