http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2011/08/01/ntsc-j-and-ntsc-u-psone-classics-confirmed-for-scee/
On one hand I'm happy about this as I'll be able to buy them on my AU account and keep everything together on my PSP Go. On the other hand I'm slightly annoyed as I just bought $100 of US PSN credit just for PS1 classics But in general I think this is pretty exciting! I wish they'd rerelease some of the games like the FFs in 60Hz but I really doubt that's going to happen, haha. Does anyone know which games wouldn't make it over due to licensing issues? Maybe there's still some use for that credit after all (if not, there's always Singstar). _________________

Hard to say, as such games wouldn't be tendered for release at all so it's hard to cite them specifically. Games with licensed material (like in-game ads or music) would probably be trickiest, or games that were developed by now-defunct developers, where the rights are either up in the air or the new owners have no interest to renew the license. I know the first Resident Evil had similar issues for a while.
All games in the system will be 60hz, but they won't confirm a 60hz re-release for older games. A very nice move, we'll just have to wait and see what comes. _________________

I'm mostly wondering what'd be worth getting on US PSN now (ie. won't come out here) and what I should wait for - unfortunately I am nowhere near informed enough about what games might have licensed music I'm curious about that 60Hz rerelease thing though, while I'm sure it's not a priority I can see them maybe doing it if the demand is high enough. _________________

I only just then looked at the lists of PSone games available on PSN and couldn't believe how many games have come out in Japan and how other regions have next to nothing in comparison.
I'm yet to buy any PSone games off PSN as I don't want 50hz versions. I'll see what happens as I was going to set up a US account and this may save the trouble. Some games I'd be keen for would be Legend of Mana & the Megaman games from the US store (along with 60hz versions of the FF games) and the Super Robot Wars games from the JP store. _________________

@Pilot: I hear you on the 60Hz thing, but you might still have to set up a US account to get FF 60Hz I think that's what I'm going to end up doing. _________________

Yeah, I think you're right. I'll wait and see what happens first, but I'm not holding my breath Sort of defeats the purpose if I just set up a US account now... but at least there'll be access to all their games straight away. _________________

There was a comment by the blog operator that 60hz re-releases are a lower priority; I read that as "never", so I'd say it's safe to grab existing games from the US store.

The Wipeout series would be a good example, though not really in context with this development. _________________

it still bypasses region coding tho the very reason i sought to buy PSN titles over PSN ... _________________

The main thing that annoys me is the difficulty of using multiple PSN accounts on one PSP, I wouldn't mind so much if I was just buying them to play on my PS3 but the reason I want them on PSN is so I can take them with me instead of being tied down to my console. I don't like the idea of having to change all the content on my PSP when I change accounts (which is why I have two PSPs and am looking into a third), and if I could get everything including that 60Hz stuff on one account I definitely would, even if I have to pay a bit more here. _________________
