Ah okay, we're talking that level of game then? I haven't seen the Xbox "Indie Games", so I was just placing them all at the same level of what I've seen of more general indie games - that is pretty damn good. Most of the ones I've seen are people trying to make a living off them (or at least recoup their costs), not just weekenders. _________________

Scalia is known for having used pop culture references in the past. A lot of Australian judges have quoted the Castle in various judgments over time, including the High Court (references to the "vibe" being the most popular). _________________

R.I.P. Amy Winehouse, died at age 27 on Saturday.
Apparently this photo was taken on Friday. It says "They all die at 27! Our investigation on the curse of the Neptunians. The singer, Amy Winehouse, 27 years old, is seriously threatened."

At least 84 dead in Utoya massacre yesterday
Interviewing the killer
Kind of insane. The guy was an extreme nationalist and apparently anti-islam. Dressed up as a police officer and gathered all the teens on the island into a group, then started opening fire on them. He was armed with a shotgun, hand gun and assault rifle, and was going around executing the injured on the floor with a bullet to the head.
Also, I'm waiting on the point where regardless of the fact that he's extreme anti-islam, considers himself conservative christian and went extreme right wing in his early twenties, they will blame a video game somewhere along the line.
But nonetheless, this guy is absolute nutters _________________

The Herald Sun has already made sure to point out he was an avid player of World of Warcraft. _________________

One of my friend's girlfriend was hurt when the bomb went off in Oslo. She is in hospital and will be ok. D:
I have many friends in Norway. I was chatting with some at the time the bomb went off and then I started freaking out about my other friends and was frantically calling them to make sure they were alright. It was so crazy how the death toll went from 7 to over 90 in the time I was sleeping.
Just as I was about to fall asleep I heard about the gunman dressed as a police officer. I thought he was in the city but I didn't realise until I woke up in the morning he had travelled to Utøya island and was shooting children.
A lot of my norwegian friends don't want the death penalty because they feel that they will sink to his level. They figure if he lives his life will be more horrid then death because he will never make friends and everyone will hate him.

What irritates me about it is that he has probably watched a whole slew of violent movies, but yet they won't get a mention. He has formerly played wow, and of course that deserves to be mentioned.
Anyway, I hope they lock him in some dark hole below the Earths surface without windows, in solitary confinement.

That's not going to happen Sobriquet835. He is going to get 21 years in prison and then be detained there. Oh btw this is what prison is like over in Norway...just so you know
I don't think WoW has anything to do with it. He had really crazy right wing views that he took too far. I don't think WoW makes people right wing.
Here is a link to documents he wrote... right wing nutcase

Honestly, if he played WoW for long enough to get to level 85, I don't think this would really bother him... _________________

I think its the worst spree killing in history or at least the worst shooting related one. Scary. I can't understand how anyone can be in a mindset to do something like this, it makes me sad that people like that can exist. I hope he doesn't just get the maximum 21 year sentence they have over there (I think).
They were mostly teens too. Horrible.
What annoys a bit me though is Aus news sites firstly making it clear than no Australians were harmed in either of the attacks (phew???) and now having stories on the fact that one kiwi is missing who was in the area at the time. Really why do we think its worse somehow if one of the victims happened to be from a place closer to home. They are all people whos deaths are equally bad... I hate patriotism.

I guess it is just for people who might have someone they know (an Australian) who is over there or something? and Kiwi because there's a lot of them living in Australia?
I'm just guessing here... _________________ "Work hard now, play even harder later"

I responded too quickly because I do indeed agree with you. First news at Channel 10 was about an Australian Cyclist that might win Tour de France and it is apparently so big Victorian Gov is going to do something big, follow by the death of Amy Winehouse and then the killing of Norway (which they place emphasis on "anti-muslim", "christian fundamentalist" and "neo-nazi". Nothing about him being a gamer).
I never liked prime time Australian news, it's like world's problem only occurs sometimes and everything happens in Australia but during weekdays I get too tired reading news (luckily SBS News has some world news). _________________ "Work hard now, play even harder later"

Not worse, just more exciting. It's why the recent Toowoombah floods got more attention in our media than the floods causing more damage at around the same time in Brazil, and why right now we care more about people being killed in Norway than the ones being killed in Iraq (or any almost other place with a high amount of violence). _________________

We show more sympathy to "one of us" dying because we share a higher level of understanding and a more intimate bond with them, don't we?
The same reason why we care more about the Holocaust victims than those who died in the cultural revolution. _________________
