I finally got around to watching Evangelion 1.0 the other night. I enjoyed it, although it was basically the first 10~ episodes of the original series compressed into two hours, which means that they have less time for the character development that made the show so great. From the ending, it looks like there will be some changes in Evangelion 2.0 though, so I'm looking forward to that now.
Apart from that, I've also been watching quite a few series. I got myself up to date with Bleach, I had like 10 or so episodes to catch up on. The current filler is actually not too bad.
I'm also 30 episodes into Fairy Tail and 13 episodes into Dragon Ball Kai. Fairy Tail is actually pretty funny at times, and while there doesn't seem to be much of an over-arching story at this point, every episode is still entertaining. DBKai is awesome as expected, loving how quickly things progress, although I just found out that the show ends with the Cell Saga! Why didn't they go all the way to the end of the Buu saga?
The other series I'm trying to watch at the moment is Monster. The first half of the series was actually really interesting, but the latter half has been terrible. The pace is ridiculously slow, there is constant retreading over the same stuff we already know, and there and tons of new characters being introduced that have storylines outside of the main plot. It's a shame, because if they had cut out all the filler and focused on the core plot, I think it would have ended up being a fantastic show. Anyway, I have 8 episodes left, so hopefully the ending picks up.
And cheers for the Anohana recommendation! _________________

The next Gantz movie is out.
EDIT: Scratch that, it's not.
It's just the first one but "they" are showing the second movie's poster.
Sorry folks. >.< _________________

Episode 12 of Steins;Gate . Was not expecting that. I sense the story is going to shift to a more serious pace now.

If you're expecting Kaworu in 2.22, you'll be disappointed.
2.22 is much more of a departure, with more radically redesigned Angels, and a new character (Mari Illustrious) to effectively replace Asuka.
2.22 is better than 1.11, though. Definitely be sure to check it out.
(In fact, if you're going to Manifest next month, you can check it out there. ) _________________ Twitter | XBL: Tamaaya | PSN: stormo | GameCentre/Steam: StorminNorman

Watched it last night. Now your Oh snap! makes sense . Waiting a week for each episode is going to be torture now! The events in the past couple of episodes have been quite shocking. I just love the build up during the first half of the series, it made the last few episodes have such a big impact. Amazing anime so far, it's much better than Chaos;Head.

Monster has a great setting to it, but I'd agree that pacing is off later on. In the end I just wanted it to hurry up and finish.
I'm not a huge fan of Anohana. While I enjoyed shows such as Clannad, Anohana just feels like an overdone blubberfest and in the end I wasn't that satisfied with the ending. Then again, I also liked Persona Trinity (from a psychological perspective) and no one else liked that.

I think you really need to let yourself go when you watch Anohana. Maybe I was just in the right mood when I watched it. Certainly not an anime I could watch with others . I thought the ending was a tad overdone. But then it was coming off the build up and in my opinion the best scene in the anime when they launched the firework. The end of that episode just gave me goosebumps.

Shakugan no Shana is my favourite anime franchise of all time. I hope it ends well but I'm not expecting to given how much of the novel story is left out. _________________

Mardock Scramble is freaking awesome. I loved the first OVA which I had the opportunity to watch a while back, I'm really looking forward to 2nd one as the first ended on a cliff hanger.
Mardock Scramble is originally a Japanese novel and it's been translated, I haven't read the translation so I'm not sure how good it is, but it's done by Viz so I'm assuming it should be fairly good.
The OVA was originally cancelled but then it finally got finished late last year. The 2nd OVA is suppose to come out in September this year.
For those who are fans of Megumi Hayashibara she does the voice of the main female character - Rune Balot.
Official Japanese Website.
http://m-scramble.jp/
Here's the basic plot.
| Japanator.com wrote: | | It stars Rune Balot, a prostitute who after questioning her existence, is burned to death in a car explosion by Shell, a man who has been periodically having new girl friends and killing them, turning their asses into diamonds and removing his memory of ever having or killing them. From there Balot gains a new life thanks to Dr. Easter and the synthetic skin he graphed on to Balot. With this new skin, it allows her to feel technology and the world around her, even hack it with her mind. With Oeufcoque, a golden mouse with the power to turn into any object be it gun or even a suit, she tries to make Shell pay in court for not only what he did to her, but countless other women. Of course, Shell won’t sit still either, as he has a trained assassin Boiled, soulless killer with powerful gravity system in his body, who will stop at nothing to get his job done. |

-Usagi Drop
-Evangelion 2.22
-Summer Wars
-Anohana
-Mayo Chiki!
-The iDOLM@STER (Don't know why, friend asked me to give it a go)
-Steins;Gate
...and I think that was about it for now _________________

Usagi Drop, Anohana and Steins;Gate are all awesome anime. I'm watching Usagi Drop at the moment. It's a very heart warming series. Almost makes me want a daughter of my own although I'm sure it's not as easy as the shows sometimes portrays .
I've been meaning to watch Summer Wars lately. I bought a Summer Wars and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time double pack the other day. I haven't seen either of them but both seem to get raving reviews.

Started watching a bit of Ghost Hound and it seems alright so far. It focuses on traumatic events that several characters had in the past, with supernatural references. It seems to take itself a bit more seriously than Anohana, not that I'm trying to indicate that is either good or bad, rather different.

I watched Tokyo Godfathers last night. It was the only Satoshi Kon film I hadn't seen. What a great film! It's about three homeless people (a man who abandoned his family, a runaway teenager and a transvestite) who find a baby abandoned in a trash pile. They then try to find the parents as they wander around Tokyo on Christmas Eve. A really great social commentary that had a lot of funny moments. Such a shame that we won't see any more brilliant films from Satoshi Kon, RIP.
