I'd recommend playing the first game but after you are use to the cover system of the second, it might be hard going back to the clunky mechanics of the first.
I think it's worth it just to play it for the story though. And also build up all those decisions that can be carried over to ME3! _________________ Steam: Emilbus

I would love to if I could, I wish they ported it over to PS3 as well.
I get the basic idea like the Reapers/Soverign and what not.
It's just hard to make decisions like they wanted me to knowing next to nothing about the characters! But at least the decisions in ME2 are going ok so far. _________________

The universe is a bit confusing having not played ME1, the comic gave me a brief idea though.
Boy am I loving it, about 10 or so hours into it, recruited two people so far and just beat the Overlord dlc which was fantastic! It's awesome that it comes with all the DLC. |
Head over to the Mass Effect wiki and read a summary of the first game. It's pretty detailed and will give you a heads-up on all the events.
Also, dont forget your codex in the game is chock full of stuff to listen to and read. _________________

Finished up LittleBigPlanet 2's story mode, not sure why I bothered. Might mess around with the editor in the coming week to see what I can do.
Almost through my first season on NBA 2K11's My Player mode - game needs crying LeBron when you beat the Heat
Started playing Total Overdose on the original Xbox. Didn't mind it when I played the demo a few years ago. Hasn't aged well in the looks department though, but it never really looked good in the first place. Some crazy action in the game, but the mission structure is kind of crappy.
Also playing Kirby: Squeak Squad. Intro is proof that Kirby is a jerk. _________________ Retro Gaming Australia

Im playing through The Witcher: Enhanced Edition for the first time. I played the original on release and this is a massive, massive, massive improvement. Much more enjoyable this time around without the gamebreaking bug I ran into in chapter 1. _________________

I picked up Trenched. This game is so good. I was hesitant because I get bored of Tower Defence quite quickly but this game is pretty good. There's something about the feel that is spot on. The loot is pretty good to and the humor is as expected from a double fine game.
I would recommend it to anyone who like Borderlands as the multiplayer has a similar vibe to it.

White Knight Chronicles 2.... so much to do: pointless fetch quests when the character to fetch from is standing next to the errand giver, bounty hunting, loot farming for armour/weapon creation, main story, online guild questing.
why won't you drop dull metal lump, why T_____T

I did God of War/God of War 2 through the emulator a little while ago. God of War 2 looks pretty great at higher resolutions.
Recently I've been going through both Killer7 and Wind Waker in 1080p, both of which have held up obscenely well due to the cel shading. _________________

Not to rag on SotC, as it is pretty damned brilliant, but did that washed out palette drive anyone else a little batty? I can't help but think 'man this would look so much better with real colours' whenever I see it.
I originally wrote this off as the shitty TV I played it on, but going off that screeny it wasn't my TV at all. _________________

I'm totally with you Karai, it looks plain bad.

It's not just that screen, the game is one of the worst offenders of real=brown that I can think of. _________________

I loved it. I mean, I'm huge on colour and love it when a game showcases colour, but Colossus use of light and colour fit the tone of the game perfectly imo. It was appropriately toned down and desaturated.
Though with that said, you guys need to explore the world more. There are areas with greens and blues all over the place. The colour was definitely toned down instead of saturated, but yeah I felt it suited it really well. _________________

Oh yeah, look, there were cool patches of vibrance - but when I'm spending hours looking at what clearly should be a white but is actually off cream, it kind of bugs me.
Shadows of the Damned is giving me almost as much grief through it's 'THERE IS NO BLACK, ONLY GREY' treatment... but I'm still enjoying ploughing through the demons, as I enjoyed riding through those epic environments. It bugs me, but not enough to ruin the game by any means. _________________

All games should, by default, have a colour saturation slider in with the brightness and contrast settings in the options
like GTAIV

inFamous 2 - only early days yet so this is just first impressions so far - playing evil seems more viable then the first one (saving good for second playthrough as Ive heard its powers are better?) - city looks detailed and lovely - envronmental damage is nice - why the voice change? - why did the switch the shooting angles? In the first I was able to aim around a corner with the arm extended and at least the illiusion of cover, now the camera only seems effective when Im in the open, and Ive encountered two or three instances of my left arm clipping through the wall. Oh and the opening battle isnt so impressive after playing some other epic boss games (GOW I'm lookng at you) With only about an hours play I'll withold judgment for now....
On a side note, played half an hour or so of crysis 2 (PS3) ...WOW .. only stopped as wanted to have a solid block of time to invest in it before continuing... _________________

Just started playing Nier. Goodness gracious, I am sucked in. I'm only about 4 hours in but so far I'm finding the story to be quite appealing and the characters easy to sympathise with. I like that the gameplay feels open-ended. It's not a very logical comparison, but the game world reminds me of Baten Kaitos in terms of it being a mature world, and there's obviously a lot of mythos behind it that I can't wait to uncover. _________________ Check out my game, Awien Ambush

Assassins Creed Bloodlines.
After finding out that it kind of covers a massively important part of Altair's story I picked this up on the cheap at EB (20 bucks)
It's actually pretty good, the controls are kind of clunky but I think that's a lot more to do with the PSP nub then the actual game. (Though he doesn't seem to lock onto objects as well) The area's you're in are a lot smaller and pretty sparsely populated, but it kind of takes advantage of this offering a lot more structured design areas like breaking into castles that have a much more obvious ways to stealth into them. It also seems pretty obvious where they were taking AC 2 from this as a lot of the stuff seems like a half way point, it has the same optional side mission kind of things like chasing people down, assassinating people etc that serve the story but aren't necessary.
They've also changed Altair's voice actor and the new guy is a hell of a lot better, I'm hoping they keep him for revelations, he has an appropriate accent now as well as an actual personality.
It's not the best game, the clunky controlls are kind of a pain, but for someone that wants more story for Assassins Creed it's pretty rad (The story follows Altair and the female Templar from the end of AC 1, and how they end up together in the bleeding segment in AC 2) and at 20 bucks I feel it was pretty worth it.
After just finishing 1, I'm actually enjoying this more. _________________

Currently playing a few games (verrrry short attention span here...): Mass Effect, Heroes of Might and Magic 5, Terraria and Borderlands mainly, a couple of others also but mainly these ones.
Really enjoying Mass Effect, I originally had it on X360 but didn't get all the way through it. Now playing on PC, shooters are sooo much easier on PC. The story component is definitely it's strong point.
HOMM 5: not much needs to be said here, I've been a fan of the series seemingly forever and this one continues on in the same formula and is really quite good imo.
Terraria: A very different style of game to what I am used to. I could imagine spending a great deal of time on this (if I had the time...). Enjoyed it so far but I think it's the kind of game you need to invest a lot of time into to see the reward.
Borderlands: This game is amazing. I'm normally not a big shooter fan but the questing and looting elements of this game sit really well with me. This is one that I think I definitely will sink a lot of time into. Love the art style as well.
Also, I've picked up the X-Superbox of Steam (all the X1, X2, X3 space sim games), can anyone give me a recommendation on where to start? Do the older ones hold up at all or should I just go to the most recent one??? _________________ Now Playing: Borderlands, HOMM5, Mass Effect.

Currently playing slowly through a few games when I get time.
I am at the end of the homicide department in LA Noire after picking it up on launch. The game is very, very hard to play in long sittings so I am taking my sweet time with it. While I am enjoying it enough to continue with it, it is basically the Mad Men cameos that get me through it.
Also playing Super Street Fighter IV: AE. Glad I picked it up to play with Pain, Grim, Zerojyu etc. I am so bad at it though. I can't play 2d fighters well at all.
And finally, still playing T6 gdlk. God-tier game. _________________

Just started Uncharted 2 after finishing UC1 and even only afew hours in it has exceeded all my high expectation for it so far. I don't know if the shooting mechanics was improved from the first one but I'm finding it abit easier to get headshots (maybe I'm getting better at aiming with a controller:3).
